Senator Sanders, I am a Senior Center Director. Thank you for "getting it." I deal with seniors every day who have to choose between filling a prescription or buying groceries. It's incredibly sad. Some of our seniors come to the center & won't run the air conditioning in their cars to save gas. Some attend a few days because they can't afford to come every day because of gas. We have one couple who had to divorce so that the wife could qualify for home health care! That is so wrong!
Thank you for being you Bernie. While fighting to protect Social Security could you also fight for non-profit mass transit in rural areas. Many bus & trolley & train routes have shut down across this country, because companies can't obtain the mass profits they desire. This leaves seniors even more isolated. If taxis run in these areas, they are often too expensive to use. Many seniors will die because they can't get to needed help.
50 million without healthcare... I thought we went through all that in 2009? Oh yea, no public option, no medicare-for-all. At least they resolved that in Vermont. I hope that's going well there. If so, it could serve as a model for other states.
@etzel33 California has a bill going through for single-payer but it's not looking good. It's time we elect those in who care to do the right thing for people with Healthcare rather than cater to the multi-bilion dollar health insurance industry that makes huge profits off of healthcare and denying coverage to most. It's a travesty.
Unfortunately Bernie, you're speaking to a bunch of morons that don't give a shit about seniors, poor people, disabled people or anyone that isn't a straight white Christian. It is more important to give tax breaks to the wealthy than it is to feed the poor and elderly. it is truly despicable and it makes me embarrassed for my country. Shame on the conservatives for not knowing how to prioritize and feel compassion for the most vulnerable

Everyone should keep in mind that someday you will be old. Even merely from the standpoint of self interest, you should care about the situation of the elderly.
My laptop is a old dell 2500 I saved up for 6 months it cost 25 bucks that was my present for 1 year . I have no other electronics except a 20 inch tube tv I got free . I wear coats inside so to not
run out of oil . I am lucky I can close off rooms and just keep the house warm for my family .
I am on social security and make the same as he said . I have 2 kids under 14 and a wife that must take care of me. I eat very little so my kids can eat. I got heap this year and it was 1/2 less than last year . I thank god the weather has been a lot warmer last year and this. I reach the dounut hole in 3 months and then I have no coverage as I can not afford my meds . I cut my meds in 1/4 to make them last . I can not tell my doctors or he would hospital me.
