  • In the early 70s I sang part of this song with Mary. I was the only survivor of my unit in Nam, so in the middle of this song, I broke down in tears, so Mary just held me. Shortly afterwords, I left, and never saw her until twenty years later. She was with her oldest daughter. I was surprised when she not only recognized me but remembered my name. Oddly enough, we were both on our downward struggle of health issues.

  • Giace ora con Mary...

  • Dov'è la nostra gioventù?

  • wat going the time fast

  • song of my childhood. mum sang it every day. i didn´t understand the text then.

  • Still we are asking the same questions to which there are no answers.. but it has never been put so well in music!

  • To MY Paulie...have we learned yet? Love & Miss U <3

  • We have not learned a thing, and still young men are dying for governments that just don't care.

The young men have gone to grave yards everywhere.

  • I love this song! It still brings tears to my eyes,

  • A handmade music box that played this song was what my grandfather proposed to my grandmother with. When I was 10, she gave it to me. I keep it on my nightstand to this day.

  • Mary's passing is no great tragedy; it's the cycle of life and all that. But boy, what a legacy!

  • I saw them live in Atlanta in 02. The house was half full because of the war mongering republicans in this state. It was a shame on Americans that they have not ever learned. Now the full circle thing: an unending conflict with so many young men being affected, this recent atomic incident. We need protests and sit ins like those cats did it then! They used their voice, and not on IPods either. They used them where it mattered.

  • I always end up in tears when listening to this song... It is clear that most of the humans do not want what ever the politicians are driving them to do, and that there is hope for love and peace... It is only a matter of awareness...

  • Rocky Radio......they will never Learn!!

  • every time i hear this i cry. wil we ever learn?

  • I left on a Jet Plane in 1969; thank God I made it Back.

Bring all of our children Home Right now and Defend our Sovereign United States Borders and at Sea, without a Congressional Declaration of WAR, since 1942.

  • McGlaurung - I have the live album with Paultalk on it.

  • i wish i could find Paultalk in at least one of my searches

  • I'm gonna start finger picking exercises :)

  • Oh, when will they ever learn that wars are the greatest evil in this world...

  • They never will because war equals money and our country is GREEDY!

  • @sawilliams0803 War means money, and People are greedy. We as a people and specie are doomed to this mistake, always have been since the first recorded war in 2700 BC to the present. We have not yet learned, nor will we learn until we all leave the face of this scarred planet

  • I like it - I lived it.

  • I remember playing simple guitar tunes to this song with my daughter, she had tears in her eyes towards the end!

  • This song reminded me a lot of good memories during my younger age. It touches my HEART and my SOUL every time I heard this song.

  • This song reminded me when I was a little kid. It makes me cry every time i heard it. It touches my Heart and my Soul.

  • Fantastic song, its power reaches out across the generations, across continents. thank you for posting this timeless jewel.

  • Dad, rest just as sweetly as you sang all Peter Paul and Mary songs to me. Miss you so. I love you my sweet daddy.

  • simply touching. great singers

  • love this song

  • Gosh, I wish there were groups like this today. Their harmonies, their guitar playing, their songs simply touch the heart....

  • Really love this song, where had this gone....

  • great song, great singers

  • I was in the millitary. I will allways be a soldier. I just hope I am never needed. Peace be to all.

  • I woke up today with that song in my head started singing it which i haven't heard since a young girl.

  • Thanks Mr SpiritCoach. Your words inspired me, in conjunction with the music of Peter, Paul and Mary. Nice to know folks like you still exist.

  • Their voices even got better in their old age.

The youngs of today should have listened to this and know what they have missed.

  • Mary's got a voice like an angel. Course I've never heard an angel but I bet they couldn't do much better.

  • In our hearts everywhere...

  • Lets hope that everyone understands and learns from these lyrics. Mary rest in peace you had the voice of an angel hopefuly they now know how lucky they are

  • Very few groups can make me both smile and shed a tear...PP&M always could do that to me. RIP Mary; I'll miss you.

  • The three part harmony of Peter, Paul and Mary, combined with their search for social justice in the songs resonated with the American public. They marched with Martin Luther King Jr and sang in Washington when he gave his "I have a Dream" speach. They were fierce opponents of the Vietnam War and the conflict in El Salvador and more. They won five Grammy Awards, for songs like, Puff the Magic Dragon, (no, not a song about pot!),. Oh, and so many, many more..We will miss her much.

  • Godammit. Why do all the good people die!

I met all 3 personally. Had a Heineken with Mary, she said, "Shit it's hot our there" after the concert, just me, her and my younger sister. Paul told me to buy a nylon string guitar instead of steel string and I did.

I am 38, do you know how hard it is to watch everyone who changed our world die this year? If not, YOU WILL. Enjoy it them while you have them, those people who affect your life.

  • Everybody dies, good and bad people everywhere. It's our job to keep their memories real and true. Maybe, just maybe, that technology like YouTube will help keep the good alive everywhere. Where have all the flowers gone? They're still here, in our hearts, everywhere.

  • You're absolutely right. One icon after another died this year. My world changed when Mary died.

  • Look, we all have to go when our time comes. That's life. Obviously it was her time.

  • to John

where are all the people who can remember?

  • It's just soooo BEAUTIFUL, tkss for sharing..

  • Rest in Peace Mary Travers

  • I note the sad constriction of Mary's range. But she has made up for by her marvelous phrasing and articulation of the lyrics. Aloha Mary

  • GET A LIFE.

  • I love this song. My parents raised me on this music and I still love it.

  • RIP Mary !!!!! Music like this will never be made again !!

  • I will never forget the Christmas concert where Mary introduced and sang to the Granddaughter she shared with another Grandmother.

  • We love you ALL...and for all you did and do for humanity......we'll miss you Mary.

  • RIP, Mary. Your voice will never die.

  • your music is universal, R.I.P.

  • RIP Mary, you will be missed, but one day we will all be together again. Your music has inspired so many people to do so many great things for peace, thank you for being a shining star on our earth.

  • You will be missed, Mary! I'm afraid we won't ever hear this type of music ever again!! It was a simple time. Sure, it was a tough time with the Vietnam war and all but it was a beautiful time as well with the wonderful music!

    Rest in peace, Mary!

  • Much Loved and sadly missed, thank you for your music, God speed, Rest in peace

    Luke

    Annmari from From Sweden

  • I feel like I've lost a personal friend -PPM was one of the strongest and best influences in my musical and social conscience of my youth. It won't be the same, but it will carry on.

  • Rest In Peace Mary. You made a difference and we will never forget you, your voice, and your message.

  • beautiful memories, tears in my eyes.

  • RIP from Canada

  • Mary RIP From The USA

  • マリーさん、天国でも歌って下さい・・。

  • thank you for the music and the memories..they will never be forgotten...rest in peace mary...

  • RIP Mary ...... Pakistan

  • Rest well Mary, you will not be forgotten.

  • Mary has brought us so much to remember and rejoice. We have all been touched by this trio. Thanks for the music Mary

  • Another great performer has gone to rock and roll heaven. I know they have one hell of a band.

  • Peace for Mary, and have loved PP&M since a child. Now as an adult i have felt anger toward war and people and when i now hear this song again sung with true emotion to seek peace and understanding i feel peaceful somehow.

  • I wish you a sweet and easy journey home Mary.

It was nice to share this time with you.

  • Shed a tear for Mary ... hope she's sitting someplace with Karen Carpenter and Cass Elliott and John Denver - the people who taught me how to harmonize.

  • Rest in peace dear Mary. Thank you for making us dream for a better world.

  • I came here after hearing about the passing of Mary Travers (RIP)... and I remember singing this with a group of Japanese English teachers in the back yard of a professor's house in Minnesota... As I watch this video and recall the past... and think of the present... tears flow down. May the world come to know this music once again, and strive to do better because of it.

  • Mary Travers had such a beautiful voice. May she rest in peace...

  • RIP Mary

  • one of the greatest songs ever recorded

  • Thank you Pete Seeger for blessing our world with such a beautiful song.

  • To all who can watch this deeply moving song and only think to leave nasty comments about politics...when will they ever learn? I honestly feel sorry for you.

  • Does anyone remember when the redid this to "Where have all the children gone" for the gun campaign commercials? let me know if you know where I can find it

  • This song says it all! We will never learn that there is no such answer as WAR. Bush got us in to Iraq and we still have not learned anything other than to be smart enough to get rid of Bush!

  • Their messages surpass any language barriers. And Yes I served in the S Army but suported all of their endeavers..George Bush WAS DEAD WRONG ON IRAQ!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this song is so hauntingly beautiful!

  • I'm impressed at how well the whole audience could sing along. I don't think I could sing along to a Japanese song that well. (I've tried. It's tricky even with subtitles!)

  • After all this time this is still a very touching and moving song.

  • Unfortunately you have the wrong ideas about the last one guy in your list. The invasion of Iraq was never about helping the Iraqi people. I was about energy and geographical control based on military presence.

  • Nice song

  • Classic! Peter Paul and Mary are legendary.

  • Bonitas armonías vocales para una melodía bellísima. Seguiremos cometiendo errores, pero aprenderemos. Gracias por el video

  • They will never learn

  • Thanks for sharing this great song I remember it from years gone bye 5***** G.G.

  • Thank you for wonderful comment.
