  • THIS SONG SCREAMS FOR A FREAKIN' BADASS SHRED SOLO!!!!

  • 0:27 = The thinking man's riff. Not in terms of Meshuggah's style of music, but just listen to it. You just start to think.

  • So is the snare on the beat when the drums come in or is it off the beat?

These guys have such an interesting effect on me - at first I only liked a few songs on this album, now I like the whole album. This is my least favorite song on this album, but it's still purty dang awesome. They're just like that.

  • @holygroove2 Interesting. Bleed and this song are my fav's, and the only songs I particularly like. I prefer their older material to this album in general though- Rational Gaze and Future Breed Machine are my top two older tracks.

  • This. Is. M E T A L.

    HEADBANG MOTHERFUCKERS! lml

  • It kind of sucks that all of the Djent bands are terrible compared to Meshuggah. Because Meshuggah is great.

  • @Bassbait check out RXYZYXR, they're really good IMO, they are comparable to Meshuggah themselves...

  • @vanishy0urself As soon as the clean vocals came in I have to disagree. Meshuggah keeps their consistency and is always heavy. The problem with Djent occurred right when it became a prog genre - Meshuggah is more Groove than Prog, they're more like Pantera than Dream Theater, for example. But people like the guitar tone and mathiness of Meshuggah and ruined it by trying to add TOO MANY Prog influences. The Prog influences are what kills it for me.

  • @Bassbait OK, then, I misunderstood you. My apologies. Though you still may want to check out "Orgazmic Ceiling" which is from before RXYZYXR had a vocalist. It's a pretty kickass instrumental.

  • Tomas Haake is the Kraken in disguise.

  • @queerduck321 damn... that makes a lot of sense... it explains everything... =P cheers

  • wow... @Drummerz24 @AdeptHuman bigest spam ever bros

  • you can't be serious? This is Meshuggah, not a documentary on the war.

  • Cool song, wait, what, an arguement about the America/Japanese war?! WTF

  • Sorry. I mistyped. It was named project "x ray"

  • I spill mah drink !

    ...

    Thank you Meshuggah !

  • I think i fractured a few vertebrae to this shit lol.

  • i think its safe to say the bass guitar owned this song

  • I don't feel safe when I listen to this album.

  • Amaaaaazing song...makes me wanna get up and thrash around! fucking awesome!

  • @AhNggakTau

    THIS ACTUALLY WORKS!

step 1: hold youre breath for 5m.

    step 2: die.

  • @gothikgamer

    me + stick = die

  • @gothikgamer No it doesnt, if you hold ur breath for 5 min u will pass out and once passed out you start breathing again...

  • @zoomdude44 I know, but the guy I replied to, doesn't xD

  • @gothikgamer Not to be a killjoy but it doesn't because you pass out and you start breathing again in your subconcious state

  • @surfthecentre dude, I know that, its just a fucking joke.

  • nothing like killing 1000's apon 1000's of zombies on dead rising to this band

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • MY DESK IS SHAKING!!!!!

  • my ears are bleeding

  • The Japs are lucky we didn't drop this shit on Hiroshima instead.

  • @666CthulhuIsMyBitch

    Best quote I ever read.

  • @666CthulhuIsMyBitch Ahahaha too fucking right

  • @666CthulhuIsMyBitch

I didn't know Meshuggah was an invention by the U.S. military?

  • @666CthulhuIsMyBitch This would make much more sense if Meshuggah were American, but this is still a beasty comment.

  • @666CthulhuIsMyBitch - how can such an uncool comment be so cool...?

  • @666CthulhuIsMyBitch The japs? seriously? This isn't 1944 anymore bro. While Meshuggah does freakin' rule, how you came up with the comparison of an atomic bomb that killed thousands of innocent people to a modern metal band is beyond me....the saddest part is it's the top rated comment.

  • @Drummerz24 Yeah it is. You don't like it? Get your sleeping bag and go cry about it on wallstreet with the other liberal tramps and beggars.

  • @AdeptHuman Then why are you crying about my comment? To top it off, you tell me to go complain about something totally unrelated. What an awesome comeback.

  • @Drummerz24 >implying I was crying

You were the one crying, and you don't even know the fat man was dropped in 1945 not 1944.

  • @AdeptHuman Already knew that...1944 was when the racist term "jap" was most widely used. It was no reference to when the bombs were dropped. In addition to the two atomic bombs, America firebombed over 60 japanese cities and non military targets, killing more than 100,000. There was even a plan that used bats w/ small incendiary devices housed in a bomb casing to be dropped to cause fires. It was a failure and was never used, called "project x". I'll school your ass in this history everytime

  • @Drummerz24 Oh yeah you sure did school me. Schooled me in something I essentially already knew.

But do you know why these decisions were made? The leadership of Japan was insane. There were plans, were Americans to ever land on mainland Japan, for a forced suicide charge by the women of Tokyo. They had been issued spears for this purpose. There were also plans uncovered for a last stand in Hokkado. The Japs were gonna fight to the end. Maybe even millions more lives would have been lost.

  • @AdeptHuman Yea, there was propaganda on both sides. They were told if the americans invaded, they would be tortured and killed. However, not all japanese believed this. My wife's grandfather, an 11th generation sword smith, refused to be taken to tokyo to make swords for japanese officers, even when threatened at gunpoint. Even though he was labeled a traitor, he told me (many years later when I first met him in 2003) that he never regretted his decision. He managed to convince the village

  • @Drummerz24 Japanese people have a strong sense of shame and code of honour in their culture. It's so embedded in the national psyche it's even causing problems with suicide in some areas of the country.

A double edged sword maybe (and no pun intended) but an amiable quality nevertheless.

  • @AdeptHuman that japanese leaders had started this war, and he wanted no part of making swords he knew would be used to kill. The town ended up refusing to provide any goods or services for the war. Even though this was only a small town of a few thousand, it proves not all japanese blindly believed what they were told. As a testament to his character, more than 3000 showed up to his funeral, which I attended. I used to think the way you do until I met this man, and I am better for it.

  • @Drummerz24 Hay, I don't hate the Japanese at all. The opposite. I just made the assumption you were another vaguely anti-white brainwashed fool who cries racist at everyone and everything.

You may see from my channel I'm quite fiercely Eurocentric and right wing. Japans strict immigration makes me jealous :)

  • Yea, I made assumptions about you too, and I got defensive and said things I shouldn't have. For that, I apologize. I served 8 years and did 2 tours in the middle east, which I didn't want to be a part of, but it was either that, or go to jail. ( I joined pre 9/11) After I got out, my wife and I moved to japan. It was difficult at first being a foreigner living here, but it's really peaceful here which I really enjoy. No country is perfect, but at least i don't have to fight someone else's war.

  • @Drummerz24 Nice. Where are you, which island I mean?

Apparently the Japanese people are very friendly. And the country is about 98.6% Japanese which is great.

When I went to London not long ago the place was like Somalia. Nobody spoke English. Lots of fat black people walking about with ethnic clothing. So many countries have been ruined...

Good luck in Japan though bro.

  • @AdeptHuman Thank you guys for your argument that turned into a very interesting history lesson. I actually learned quite a bit hahahaha.

Where did you guys find/learn all this information?

  • @chesternaire242 History books. The internet. Talking with the right people who wouldn't lie to you.

    Mostly history books.

  • @AdeptHuman The terms 'Eurocentric' and 'right wing' are euphemisms for an arse wipe!

  • @shariotoflove Erm got any proof to back up that ad hominem bro? Have you not even got anything witty to say?

You brainwashed fucks will all die on your knees.

  • @AdeptHuman my proof is in your comment. lol cheers.

  • @shariotoflove Care to quote it with reference to specific etymology broski?

  • @AdeptHuman my proof is in your comment...wow are you dumb? you sound like a total condescending arse wipe. right wing is synonymous with a bigot tool...dont believe me? Google it. it is a psychographic variable; or reality.

  • @shariotoflove Well, apparently you lack the ability to back up your argument. I'd say that makes you dumb.

"The evidence... it's out there somewhere, but I won't tell you where." I could just as easily say people who generalise right wingers are all dirty ignorant hipsters with dykes for mothers...

  • @Drummerz24 i totally agree with you.

  • @666CthulhuIsMyBitch no dude, they would fucking rock out and enjoy it. tool.

  • clearly the tightest chunkiest riffage ive ever heard!!!!!!

  • @TheCr0wing try "Bleed" by Meshuggah it is chug non stop

  • @noobtube3000 oh yes ik lol i like this still better

  • @TheCr0wing lol just makin sure Bleed is fuckin wicked though :)

  • best song on the obzen album ,

  • @i3atplaydoh what about bleed?

  • what the fuck kind of bass tracks did they come up with? thats fucking hard

  • this is pretty god-damn intense.

  • Masterpiece

  • fucking amazing drummer

  • love their dummer fuck me sideways that guy can play

  • It sounded ok until the guy started that generic screaming.

  • This song will play when our saviour is born, whomever that might be.

  • @polartoad my son. will be birthed to this song i dont give a shit if hes our saviour.

  • @noobtube3000 If your son will be birthed to this song, the probability is high that he will be our saviour. Congrats on the kid.

  • @polartoad Meshuggah duh

  • Drummer is really fast! Good!

  • KILL FRENZY!

  • ther songs give me goosebumps especially on 0:49

  • I swear, this is like the soundtrack I hear in my mind, when I'm getting ready to do something that could get my ass in trouble... :D

  • bellissima canzone!

  • lol wtf Tomas Haake can divide by zero.

  • @irv212 Since 1987.

  • @irv212 its reg 4/4 time. Most of their shit is.

  • There's heavy, and there's Meshuggah-heavy. This band is in a league of their own, and I have yet to hear any other band even come close.

  • 0:49 makes me feel like a prepubescent girl at a justin beiber concert

  • @evilchimpmunk566 ...that was the most awkward comparison Iv even heard. But somehow I agree.

  • i fucked a bitch to this song

    finished kinda quick.

  • Fuckin love this band.

This song is sick... I just think the guitar solo needs to be cranked up more.

  • omfg fuckin awesome!!!!

  • 0:49 Got Djent?

  • 0:49-1:06=JIZZ IN MY PANTS!!!Thats the best song in the album

  • best song of the album

  • These guys are one of the most talented and original metal bands in existence.

  • I counted a bunch of bars they are all 4/4. It doesn't sound 4/4 at all but count it out, still sounds super confusing to play haha.

  • @Scorge120 Yeah, haha a lot of their songs are actually in 4/4 but don't sound like it. They definitely know how to play the hell out of a 4/4 time signiature, haha.

  • @easierplans You realize you can compose/play anything in 4/4, right? Time signatures are tools, not a necessity. Sometimes it's easier to count certain parts in 7/8 or 13/8, but honestly.. I never count when I drum.

  • @MikePostDrums What do you mean by that? I didn't think I said or implied that you couldn't compose/play anything in 4/4?

  • @easierplans I was thinking that 4/4 time signiatures are more simple than 7/8 or 13/8 signiatures. I was just saying that even if Meshuggah uses simple signiatures, they do it very well.

  • @easierplans

    @MikePostDrums

in the case of the whole band, meshuggah doesn't play in time signatures at all. each member plays a different time signature. it's called polyrythms and polymeters. typically the guitar plays an insane time signature while the drums play a more simple time signature.

  • @GoodMetalFTw well all music is based on time, and groupings of notes therefore a time signature has to exist, and meshuggah does what the jazzers call "dancin on the time" which means that most of their songs are in 4/4 but all the rhythmsmake it sound like it is a different signature, they probably do have songs based in other time signatures but most of em are in 4/4, now about poly rhythms, most people think that just means playin off beats and such but what this is what it really is

  • @GoodMetalFTW multiple rhythms played at once, which honestly accounts for just about anything at all that is music but the technical sense of it is something like a drummer doing an ostinato pattern with one hand and soloing with the others, sorry for the rant just clearing up common misconceptions lol

  • @whitecastleawesome

yeah, but meshuggah aren't completely playing in 4/4. it's a 4/4 core, but the guitars are always playing something crazy and haake follows that with his feet while playing 4/4 with his hands. to say that everything in 4/4 is just plain false. a 4/4 core does not mean that everything is in 4/4, it just means that everything meets up in 4/4. and technically it is possible to make a song with absolutely no sense of time.

  • @GoodMetalFTW well the no "sense" of time comes from playing groups of notes based off of other meters such as a grouping of 8th notes in with the pulse on the first, third, and fifth notes, but these, while sounding like different meters are still based off of a quarter note pulse. it just messes with your mind. and i didnt say everything of meshuggahs was in 4/4 only the majority, but as i said they usually play off accents based in other meters to the tempo set by the quarter note

  • @whitecastleawesome

that's not what i meant, but whatever. i could go on, but i see no point.

  • @GoodMetalFTW holy shit! your conversation just gave me an 90% average on mid terms in college. i love music, but god damn thats alot of thinking involved

  • @GetFuckingAngry

i detect annoying sarcasm. look at your file name. that's why i didn't want to continue, i got the feeling that you would start being a dick.

  • @GoodMetalFTW it wasnt sarcastic. i really felt like i learned a little something out of your conversation. no joke. thanks!

  • @GetFuckingAngry

oh, okay. glad i could help :)

  • @easierplans I didn't get the "They definitely know how to play the hell out of a 4/4 time signiature, haha" - how is it different if it's a different time signature? Not a flame, just.. I don't get it. xD

  • fucking awesome man

  • This band Meshuggah....were they a gift from the Gods? lol i love Meshuggah!!

  • All the song is amazing but in 0:49 my face get melted.

  • Comment removed

  • es como un robot extraterrestre de hr gigger vuelto loco y muy encabronado, meshuggah rifa!!!

  • @thecravenator42069 It's all in 4/4 man. Don't try to go along with the rythm, head bang to the beat. Make sense?

  • @RFB480 meshuggah uses weird tempos, the guitars are 25/16 or something, and the drums are part 4/4 part 13/4. idk the exact number but they use really hard time signatures

  • @chriski95 this song is entirely 4/4.

  • @harmonykorine471 wasnt talking about this song. i probaly shouldve said that. Idk what time signature this song uses but its still hard to keep beat. a lot of their songs have crazyass tempos tho.

  • @chriski95 loltheir songs always have an over-all 4/4 timing with other time signatures on top

  • @RajDrummer1 yea. usually part of the drums like the snare and cymbals are 4/4 but the bass and other stuff are crazy. they like sync up every so and so beat tho. its cool how they can keep beat

  • @chriski95 that's called mathcore, where they have the same bpm but different time signatures, like one person might be 7/4 and another 3/4 and they sync up every 21 beats but drift out of sync in between

good bands are good at making the lapse of sync interesting or engaging

  • @thecravenator42069

    Awesome thought.

  • EPIC INTRO :D METAL 4 LIFE !!!

  • I've always heard so much about this group but I've never actually listened to anything by them. This is probably the single most twisted piece of music I've ever listened to and I love it. Korn is my favorite band of all time but I've never heard Jon scream like Jens Kidman. Just listening to this song might have made me into a new fan.

  • this is too good

  • i dont get the significance of the guy on the front of the album...

  • @Krazydeath66 i think hes portraying the state of zen

  • The first riff is brain-twisting...one of the most insanely brilliant metalsongs I've heard in a long, long time

  • No edges blurred on this awareness

No unknown weight to tip the knowledge scales

Eyes dilated to grasp it all

As every illusion of what we are fails

oh jens, i love you. (:

  • 0:49 If Hell ever gets iced over by Chuck Norris and The Master Chief's child, this part of this song should be the soundtrack to it.

  • please god. mayhem festival 2011. :)

  • 0:28 \m/ !!!!

  • fucking amazing

  • is the best riff ever =D i like =P

  • GREAT riffing, some of the world's best

  • I agree. They are one of a kind. I need some new stuff from them. You know when they are releasing any thing new?

  • this is their most recent album, They'll probably release a new album in 2010, but if i recall they're currently touring so it might be near the end :P

  • wrong. They're most recent album : Alive. - Ryan

  • please god. mayhem festival 2010. :)

  • the part at 0:49 is fuckin insane!

  • yeah its like the best riff ever

  • @Metal94head how about 0:27?

  • @axelfighter15 maybe 0:27 is more powerful because it's slower, but 0:49 is just pure madness

  • @Metal94head idk i like 0:27

  • Obzen is the best Meshuggah album..

  • My favorite is Destroy Erase Improve
