  • you look like jack from LOST.

  • What works with my dog is to use a soft harness on her with a 5-6 foot leash looped over my wrist. To start, I let her run full speed on the sidewalk (I'm in the street) for one city block to a traffic light and command "wait", then "go". Across the street is the park where I dismount and she takes care of "business". After that she's more relaxed. I keep her on a short enough lead that she can't run in front of the wheels. Communication is the key.

  • sorry but that bike is an accident waiting to happen

  • my knee hurts :(

  • at last....a legitimate use for dogs

  • nice tryke

  • I take my dog out all the time w/ my delta recumbent trike. I have no problems if she pulls me, which she likes to do for short spells. Mostly tho, she runs along side. When she gets tired, I put her in a plastic bin I have on the back of the trike and carry her. She's a 60 lb. Pittbull.

  • Dog:

"What the feck are you doing crawling along besides me!?"

  • lol oh rednecks

  • riding the dog gehe

  • HAHAHAHA! Awsome!

  • Google "dog sulky" to get an idea of how to attach the dog to the trike for pulling. Specifically check out the single-shaft dorsal harness. Should be a simple matter to attach a dorsal harness to the frame with a tube mount and a pin.

  • @13nillo

Thanks for the "heads up", I'll take a look into it :)

  • That would be GREAT!

    Thanks!

  • It would be fun if she could pull you on that thing.

  • she can pull, however keeping control of her when she's running with only one hand on the steering is quit hair raising. The trike has direct steering which is sensitive to the slightest movement. The faster you go, the more sensitive the steering. Perhaps attaching the leash to my upper arm would solve the problem. Keeping her on track is the other.

    Thanks for your comment.

  • Oh boy, I found that out the hard way with a velo I built from scrap at home. I looked over my shoulder to switch lanes, and when I looked back to the front, I struck the curb and flipped it on it's side (it had a truck-like body I made for it.). I'm glad I had my helmet on!

  • @stryker48 You could attach one of those spring loaded walkers so the further she gets, the more it's pulling her back and attach to your upper arm just below the shoulder. Could keep both hands on steering then and be able to brace if she goes after a squirrel or something, hehe.

  • you could probably do with 8 foot of bungie chord to walk her, if you really went to town you can weld a pole 4 foot long roughly and attach the chord at the top to help reduce chance to trapping line. have to tweak ita little though as if the line is too tough it my try too topple your kart with you in it :( i must try to walk my dog with my kart when its ready.

p.s my mkx is having upgrades at the mo. a engineer friend is making alloy pulleys and stronger metal pannier rack mounts.

  • That would certainly work. Thanks!

Would love to see your custom upgrades when done!

  • Great idea, Stryker. I just bought a used Greenspeed from BentUp Cycles in southern CA, and can hardly wait to take the neighbor's dog for a walk! Not to mention the great paths and trails in the state of Colorado.

  • Thanks! I'm going to try a harness and hopefully my dog will be able to pull me on the trike and still have full control of the dog & trike.

You can't go wrong with a Greenspeed that's for sure.

Good luck on your new trike, I'm sure you are going to have lots of fun :D

  • Yes it is! :D
