  • Young has much deeper eyes than Cocaine...His eyes are a direct link to his soul, and our souls. Thats what makes him special.

  • @Bloodtoker fuck off

  • shame that it is bad for you as snorting a big old line of coke and listerning to rock music is as cool as fuck no matter what some might say

  • one of the staff ones sage of truth warrior of freedom family man thanks neil

  • Beautiful !

    Thanks

  • NOT THE ONLY ONE .... FIX IT

  • you obviously have no idea....

    no insult!! just the truth.

  • i think, saying, that heroin makes a better musician out of you is just wrong. maybe these people had just so much luck still staying alive...they were lucky not to be 6 feet under now. maybe they have grown with their struggle, surviving insane depressions. maybe that is why they could express their experiences in their music...because they are still alive ...

but saying drugs, especially heroin make a better musician out of somebody...fuckin NO!!!

  • @davidian5 your not a musician so who are you to say what inspire folks? I know if I got some good weed the guitar and me get along real well. Its a well known fact that many of the best have abused heroin ever hear of led zeppelin??? the best band ever??? heroine, booze, weed they did it all. why am I explaining this to you it seems like a joke

  • @1overthehillsfaraway led zeppelin best band ever i lol'd

  • @Nathehe

Jesus, won't you fucking whistle something but the past and done?

Led Zeppelin was the best band ever

i know that is just my opinion and musical taste

and other people who don't know jack shit might disagree

    its all good

  • @davidian5

  • at the end of the night folks what would neil think...i guess keep rockin.. nobody rocks likes neil young...keep on rockin thru the free world...peace from the land under..australia..

  • most people of artistic bent love experiencing life, as simple as that, they feel passion in whatever they do, and seek to expand their minds, or simply have insatiable curiosity, it's no mistake many experiment with their consciousness too

  • all you idiots who think drugs ruined musicians, yes they probably lead to their downfall, but in order to be a truly amazing artist one must be a little crazy, and drugs are inspirational, even if its getting sober from drugs, the whole experience makes you more artistic

  • @BloodofErin1798 you sound stupid man, your basically saying that "to be an amazing artist you have to be crazy and do drugs!" that is probably one of the stupidest, naive, and off-base comments about art i've ever heard concerning art. if an artist choses to use drugs, or portray the use of drugs through their art, thats their choice. but i'm sure most of them aren't trying to endorse drug use in any shape or form, nor would they attribute all of their creativity to a substance.

  • @TheCrowHawk how many rock songs do you know that arent about drugs or love

  • @BloodofErin1798 seriously dude are you trying to make a point cuz thats a terrible argument. closer to the heart-rush, ohio-NIEL YOUNG, don't let it bring you down-neil young, walk on-neil young, revolution blues-neil young, another brick in the wall-pink floyd, hey you- pink floyd, gimme shelter- rolling stones, i won't back down- tom petty, give it away- red hot chili peppers, Achilles last stand- led zeppelin, stairway to heaven- led zeppelin, tom sawyer- rush. the list does go on...

  • @BloodofErin1798 the thing is, everything is all about drugs if that's what you're looking for. its all in your head dude.

  • @TheCrowHawk no, actually it was all in the head of the people who wrote the songs while doing legendary amounts of drugs... aka the artists you seem to be listening to

  • @BloodofErin1798 LOL! K good point. yeesh!

  • @TheCrowHawk I agree...it's not all about being crazy or doing drugs....IMO, you gotta find souces of inspiration which for quite a few artist is drugs....some songs about drugs are cautionary tales

  • If a Musician needs drugs to create good songs, he is an slave to the drugs not to the music.. It´s fact, sorry.

  • Oh man,, Neil's got it anyone no of any psychedelic stuff by this genius, i know he rocks hard but i'm sure there's some layed back buzz out shit..drop me a title please...?????

  • Why the fuck would someone actually press that dislike button???

  • What a great tune .Neil Young cranked up his amps for this in my mind

  • Drugs in the past OK...someone had to try it out...but were wiser now, drugs have become the stuff for loosers. Uncapable of doing anything. And their stuck on some

powder for ever. It destroys their life and art. And worse, not only do they do it to themselves. They always have to drag their beautiful girlfriends into the same shit.

A man is not a man if he beats his girl or shows her how to use drugs.

  • @silvergod6 Chill out dude, drop some XTC.

  • @silvergod6 wtf just do a couple of lines and shut up!

  • Its just a myth, just look at Brian Wilson who made his best work sober, when he started to go in overdrive on drugs, he kept himself recluse in his bed for years.

Rocky Erikson/Syd Barrett/Half of the old Fleetwood mac, Skip Spence, 'tatood' their brains on acid. A lot of talent was stopped too early because of LSD, ok these guys were already a bit unstable, but acid worsened it and someone pulled the switch to shut them off..Its a sad los for rock history.

  • Several artists including Pete Townshend (Who) have admitted that their best work did not evolve out of druguse. Someone under the 'influence' can struggle through a live-concert. But the fingers dont do what you want if your doing too much.

And yes theyre are exeptions and yes after druguse one time some song can 'pop'

out of a composer. But that doesn't say you have to do drugs to become a writer

or a musician on a 'high' level.

  • great song....keep on rockin

  • HOW TRUE .. HERE HERE!

  • you should see things in the eyes of the s&s writer been around for awhile

  • what album is this off??

  • @iwalker260 it was on the ep el dorado

  • 1. What genre is that?

    2. Which bands play music similiar to that?

  • @RD19902010

Its called rock an' roll son.

  • is it possible for josh hamilton to get laid to this song , i got no idea if that is a actor, baseball player but sure he made sally ride her bike home after she got some great an@l ,now thats mean !

  • I've seen the needle and the damage done

  • i smoke weed and drink on a daily baisis but shrooms coke and E once in a few months aint that bad

  • Thumb me down if you do cocaine!

  • Hell of a drug...

  • Cocaine frees your worries so you can compose real good music. if you use it in moderation -once a month- it's cool. But youtube commenters are pussies anyways, so i don't know why i'm writing this.. Greetings from Colombia

  • What a great tune. Some of Neil Youngs tunes seem to hit a nerve .This is a probably one of them

  • @julyarchives You are goddam right!

  • Mr Young is great composer and playes gitarr as hell.

  • Humans taking drugs is good!

    Drugs taking humans is bad!

Seeing the vibrations of someone's music spewing forth from their eye sockets as colourful ribbons can inspire you to create a better counter point melody or harmony. There are drugs, even simple plant's herbs and fungi for this, Coke ain't one of 'em though. Coke just makes big fast mouths powered by small short term gain brains! IMHO

  • @decorActive7 Cocaine is actually a great drug. I've only done it a few times, but it definitely makes your mind tick differently (Like said herbs, or fungus). I think all drugs are good, in a sense. They inspire creativity, and help break away from the norm ((mediocrity) Which is what our world is praising at the moment). I wouldn't say cocaine is a drug you do daily, or even monthly. But to experiment is being human, test some shit out, and use moderation. I really enjoy this song though.peace

  • @Pr3lude9 a helluva of drug

  • @Pr3lude9 I am not sure if you are a musician or not, but have you ever tried writing music while on something? Anything at all. It's terribly difficult and really hinders your ability to function properly when it comes to creating. Drugs are more of an introspective, absorptive experience. (Also, cocaine for me was a terribly underwhelming experience. I only tried it once, but I just felt uncomfortable and jittery, as though I had just had an energy drink or something.)

  • @ABigToeforYou I play for my own enjoyment. Some people write diaries, some people play instruments (that's the way I see it at least). I see where you're coming from, drugs effect everyone differently. I have only tried cocaine a handful of times, it wasn't the most awesome thing ever, but it wasn't terrible. I can see how people are addicted to it. Drugs take different effects, on different folks. I wouldn't recommend cocaine to anyone now that people are cutting it with flesh eating agents.

  • @ABigToeforYou spell everything correctly and I might believe you!

  • @Pr3lude9 hey mate, u say u have tried cocaine b4, i want to try it to bu ti want to know did u get any cravings for more after u tryed it? im very nervous with experimenting with such a hard substnce class A drug like that?

also how expensive would it be for just say 2 or 3 lines of coke?

  • @SwanSong2156 Dude, if you never tried it, dont...Some people can do it and walk away from it. Some try it the first time and cant stop it destroys there life. They end up SUPER broke and in the gutter....So with odds of 50/50. I have buds throught the years that have I have seen go down that path.

  • @SwanSong2156

Yeah, the best thing to do is just keep away from it. I don't know if you smoke cigarrettes, but if you do, you know that there's no real high involved, understand? You're just addicted, wasting your cash. I'd reccommend a heavy dose of marijuana, possibly some LSD & Shrooms. Fuck that coke, bro.

  • @SwanSong2156 i meant to direct this to yuo but i set on general but i smoke weed and drink on a daily basis i do coke E and shrooms once in a while like a month or two that aint bad if you keep it that but anything you abuse will fuck you up like alcohol is harder than coke and in florida coke is about 40 a gram but what i suggest is you do it in a party so you dont get to fucked up with it and really get addicted

  • @thatdutchguy420 thanks for tha advice man.....whats it like? whats the high like from coke? what do u feel?

  • @SwanSong2156 its great loads of energy to do shit

  • When "Eldorado" came out, I bought it on import, thirty quid in the UK. Insane really. But then, I had this blasting out and that made it alright.

  • THIS TUNE PONES NEWBS... in a professional manner

  • lets try one like that

  • I did not mean to compare, just to add that Canada was blessed to have them both.

  • Canada also has the great K D Lang.

  • @jeaneen60 Comparing Neil Young to K.D. Lang is like comparing the NBA to the WNBA. They're both playing basketball, but come on, you can barely tell it's the same sport.

  • @jcwbluedevil

  • I think what I'm doing is called proper abuse of the play button... Love this song!!

  • Cocaine is one helluva drug. If i didn't have my mind set on school, and if i didn't give a fuck about college I would be movin' kilos outa Colombia.

  • From what I've read, this isn't about Neil, but someone who smokes crack cocaine...probably a reference to Steve Stills' period with that problem, and not Crosby as everyone would assume

  • @blindriv3r Yea... It's mentioned in Nick Kent's The Dark Stuff.... Great song......

  • I didn't do drugs until I listened to this song.

  • I eat mushrooms!

I don't get all this heroin buisness

    seems bad for you..

I guess i just need more Cid....

  • @yamahaboy57 cid is fuckin amazing. haha

  • Music is a wonderful drug. If anybody wants another drug, they are welcome to do so. What is the problem? Cocaine eyes, it won`t hide your face.

  • drugs...what do u mean like alcohol,coffee,smokes and chocolate?

    I love those drugs!

  • Oh for pete sake. Drugs is just part of music simply because it's there. A lot of performers can't resist it. Don't make it all dramatic. Drugs are there. Rock star or not. My ex is a big crack head and he doesn't have one musical bone in his body. It's just well known among artists because they have money and can afford to buy it. Jeeze!

  • Drugs have no place in the mainstream. Whether a person uses them or not is their choice, and shouldn't be glamourised by someone who's put in a position of influence. Neil's song were great with or without drugs, and the music was far stronger for having his friends around him... when drugs took those friends, it was his music about that loss which was so deep and personal.

  • Drugs - the start and the end of Rock stars, the quiet father of all hits, the deepest songs about life, the most dramatic history. Great tragedy, great perfomence...We like to eat their drug-product in new album. I want all my Rock stars to die be heroine, I want them drown in pool, in their own vomit...I wish Rock&Roll to live forever, but when their music is eternal, they, on the other hand, lives shortly. So take drugs, write me some song which will intensifie my life through the age. Cya

  • Cocaine

  • poor baby. without weed he wouldnt have written those songs. they still resonate. so... go listen to depeche mode

  • @janisj1969 Okay japbikes does make a valid point though. While I do agree with you that drugs played an influencial role for what artists had to say at the time, it did not make them better musicians. They had real talent, their sounds and lyrics spoke to society genuinely. I think Neil himself would agree, 'Needle and the Damage Done' puts it much better then I. So its not that the industry lacks coke heads and junkies, its that more emphasis is put on looks, brands, money.Other then real talent.

  • @PuckYouMeez Right on man, right on

  • @PuckYouMeez well said

  • @PuckYouMeez well said

  • @PuckYouMeez YA I THINK id much rather you not compare your opinion to Neil YOUNG'S opinion....let alone your fucking stupid factual argument... you should have just shut up after the first sentence.. i bet you don't play any instrument and think that your brain is the instrument you need to exhibit.. with your analysis.. how bout you shut up

  • @PuckYouMeez without acid, jimmy hendrix probably wouldnt have wrote the unbelievable music he did, and without heroin john frusciante wouldnt have experienced the insane depression and darkness that made him create what is known as The Empyrean, and Niandra Lades and Usually Just a T-Shirt. I agree that some people it really doesnt make them better musicians. Even some people go downhill and make worse music. But I do know that for a select few it did and does in fact make them "better"

  • @benbasketballgtar

Everything you said about jimmy is... FALSE!!! Big fat fucking negative!!! Courtesy of the HOG.

  • @shinrichs530 all i have to say is proove it , you fucking queer, I am not hating on Jimmy , he is probably my biggest musical influence, but It's easy to see that Acid made an influence on his music, and if he didnt take the acid his music wouldnt be the same.

  • @shinrichs530 there is a thing called acid rock.

  • @benbasketballgtar John Frusciante recorded the bulk of Niandra before he even tried heroin

  • @benbasketballgtar ...Man you got to mention Keith and the other English Rockers on Heroin..."Exile on MainStreet."

  • @benbasketballgtar It didnt make them better thats just stupid it gave them something to write and fight about and be passionate about

  • @benbasketballgtar man "better" is your or some one else's opinion. it doesn't matter how many different kinds of drugs some one takes. it isn't going to make them "better" but only provide a different perspective. you could dump a whole bottle of acid on a rock and it doesn't make it a "better" or more "artistic" rock. My point being the drug is useless without the unique mind to perceive it, making them secondary, inferior and basically useless when compared to the artist's own unique mind.

  • @benbasketballgtar So true, and I'm glad you acknowledged John Frusciante too.

  • @benbasketballgtar

how do you know it made them better?

  • @benbasketballgtar They're all martysrs! :)

  • @benbasketballgtar And if it wernt't for huffing spray paint we would never have the nightman cometh

  • @benbasketballgtar But heroin did ruin Jimmy Page

  • @JohnKulo heroin did not ruin jimmy page you fuckhead. nothing ruined hi

  • @1overthehillsfaraway Umm, Jimmy is my all time favourite guitarist and heroin DID mess up his guitar playing in the later years of Zeppelin.

  • @benbasketballgtar it doesnt make them better, it just gives them new ideas they wouldve never thought of sober lol.

  • nice one neil

  • Neils cocaine eyes scare me.....

  • i love this .Supposedly written with Stephen Stills in mind at the time .Love to hear official releases of "Give me strengh" and "Born to run" on the next or future archives releases. Both are absolute gems

    regards

    jimmy

  • The best thing about Neil Young is his trademark faraway voice to match his keening faraway harmonica and GUITAR work! There is no one in the world quite like this man! Fan for life. Hey a shout out to janisj1969,you are cool!

  • canadians , i feel sorry for u guys that you share a border with the usa .

on the other hand , most of em are so ignorant , that it does not really matter what they say or think .

keep on rocking in a free world

  • @isitcosimblack especially that davidsfarm fucker, ignorant canadian

  • @Nightwing690 I pity your mother.

  • @isitcosimblack i am ashamed i live next to you you fucking spic. you're an ignorant piece of garbage to spew something like that.

  • @platter1000 i dont live next to you , lucky me . do be ashamed though , you should

you are 48 and talk like that ? pathetic frustrated old man !!

  • i thought the song was about that old rascal crosby.

    another amazing track by neil.

  • THIS SONG AND THE SONG " HEAVY LOVE " WAS OFF THE JAPANESE IMPORT " ELDORADO " THIS WAS NOT RELEASED IN THE U.S. AND CAME FROM THE " FREEDOM " SESSIONS.

  • Fame lowers the bar for the need for quality. I can't tell you how many times I've seen famous bands play badly live and it does nothing to diminish sales. This note's for me: get famous and you never have to practice any more. Sad.

  • It's amazing how Neil came back from a rather sluggish decade for his standards around 1988-89. He sounded, looked and wrote like a totally new, energized man. He began to rock again, his acoustic songs were beautiful once more and he sang better than ever. Life begins at 40!, as John Lennon sang.

  • @journeythruthepast 55 here and you might be right, but you have to put in a little more work than your average 21 year old! Saw the stones in 1973 at the Montreal Forum if my memory is correst and the street fighting was wild! Neil Young is like a part of my life in the mode of early stuff like Humble Pie,I don't need no doctor! Drunk at dawn with that song on after a night at the local newspaper working the graveyard shift! Memories!

  • thank you jac9z........ god bless.

  • The reason some good music as you say comes from drugs, is not the drug high it is the pain that comes from a fake substance that promises good and steals from you once you have bought into the lie that drugs are not dangerous. I know from experience and I do not feel any sort of pride in saying that. I was a slave to the power of the drug and it took most of my young years and chewed them up and spit them out. Please learn from someone who wouldn't listen, don't do drugs, they do kill an rob

  • @jac9z And by drugs you mean everything but Marijuana..... right?

  • @MellowCruisin i agree weed ain't a drug it's a herb all natural healthy goodness

  • Cocaina Ojos...

  • why is it that people judge "drugs"??? what would they be called if that label had not been given to them? Some of the best music was composed by people under the influence..... kurt cobain? some of the rawest emotion filled music I have ever heard. Sure beethoven and the rest made great music (for the era they were in) But like us, music evolves and needs different things for inspiration. Sure they paid the ultimate price in the end but what they produced is amazing. (elivs)

  • the three people who disliked this. Will die

  • @dnjfakshatup you only said 3 people and i was the fourth. so I will live? maybe be emperor?

  • ITS NOT EASY BEING CHEESEY...

  • IS CANADIAN WE GOT HOCKEY WEED AND NEIL YOUNG AND YUMMY BEER THAT DOESNT HAVE WATER MMMMM
