  • AWESOME DUDE you have inspired me! KUDOS your work is exceptional I hope I can get to your level. Wish me luck. and keep ROCKIN!!!

  • Fuck Video Copilot you should be doing all that shit.

  • just having some star trek in this makes it awesome. refrence: 0:17

  • LOL I just watched the 1991 Amiga Video Toaster advert and came across to watch this. It is incredible how far effects have come in just 20 years

  • did you do these? :o

  • Can you make it for me? please, to help me

  • TAHT AWESOME and can you tell me mostly what demo reel really means?

  • @Gzuw Demo real means that the videos are demos of the actual product. Instead of giving you the entire thing, you only get a taste. Sort of like a commercial on TV (or) a sneak preview from a movie.

They give you a taste of the product to make you want to see more.

In this case, the author has provided you a demo of his past projects from 2001-2004.

Would love to see some updated material, that would be great.

    Good Luck

  • danyk, your work is awsome. im 16, and i want to pursue a career doing exactly what you do, making commercials, intros to shows/news, etc...

right now im looking at colleges that have programs which would let me get a degree in this field, do you maybe know of any good ones?

im looking mostly at pratt and SVA right now, oh and im in NYC

    thanks for any help ;)

  • Pratt and SVA are both awesome schools. I have lots of super talented friends from both schools. If I could do it over again I would go to VFS in Vancouver Canada. Just know the difference between a trade schools and a four year. You will get deeper training and experience in a four year like Pratt or SVA. VFS is only a 2 year program.

  • thanks for the help. but if you say sva/pratt are more intensive (4 years) then y would u want to go to a 2 year school?

im going to choose between one of those two because i want to stay in state, but from what i have heard Vancouver is a really good school as well.

by the way, techincally, what is the major called? because i went through a list of many of them and im not sure what it really is, since there are a few that sound right.

    again, thanks for the help

  • scad in savanah georgia is also a very good school for this type of stuff aswell. and the major is called broadcast marketing i believe. or something along those lines.

  • @danyk haha wish I could've had that kind of advise 5 years ago

  • @tstorm004 did you go to SVA or PRatt ? xD

  • cool Amon Tobin's "Bridge" (song)

  • I really want to do some kinds of stuff like that. Totally awesome!!! What's the AE plug-in 3D invigorator for?

  • That was great!

  • i wish i could do same fx :)

    very nice !

  • Awesome ! You rock you rock you rock !!! :) Did u do the 3d too ? What kind of soft do you use with AE ? Cinema 4, 3Dmax or Maya, maybe Blender ? :D so you 're pretty goog ! Congrats

  • Everything here was done in After Effects. The 3D stuff was done with the AE plug-in 3D Invigorator.

  • @danyk damn, you used invigorator for all this? asom!

  • Very good stuff DanyK

  • The news is jazzy!

  • hey man you are freakin amazing at this stuff...seriously the best. where did you go to school and what was your major? i'm in college right now and still undecided...and i'm thinkin about this field. love to hear back from you...take it easy dude.

  • Great stuff!!!

  • I have a question dany. I am very experienced with AFX/Maya/Cinema 4d just curious how well you get paid working with the news? I mean I never went to any kinda schools but I could very well back it up with a reel. Im just curious because id like to look into getting extra work. Seeing if its worth it thanx

  • Cant answer for Dany but I charge about $500 per day, which is normal for a senior broadcast designer with about 5 years experience. You can charge more but you may price yourself out from many potential clients.

  • whered u go 2 college

  • It entirely depends on what market you're working in, whether you're working on a local or national level and who you're working for. Basically, no matter where you are expect the highest pressure, tightest deadline job for the lowest pay you'll ever have in your entire career. The TV industry is for suckers!

  • he's absolutely right... the Tv business sucks... well.. the NEWS business anyway. They pay crumbs and expect platinum work. Commercial or film production is the way to go.

  • i'm hesitant to concentrate on title graphics but its great to be good at! good job!

  • very nice Dan! hook us up with some tuts soon please! :)

  • tutorial any day of future?

  • Awesome reel!

Any advice for a newbie to motion graphics?

  • Sure!

    1. Practice, Practice, Practice!

    2. Stay the hell away from TV news graphics!

  • Good stuff, but why stay away from tv news gx.

  • I dont get it either, your reel looks a lot like those TV gfx.. no offense intended

  • wow... ur really good... keep it up!
