Dang, I can't wait to get me one of them fancy banjos, like, you know, a professional sounding one. I picked a Sullivan Greenbrier once...costs more than 3 grant, but it sounds awesome! I would like to have a better sounding banjo! Wow, the neck on that black one is simply gorgeous! You're gorgeous too, ma'am, with all the respect, and very talented! Keep it up!
Thanks for the info. I checked out the cello banjo and that is a little too deep of a sound for me. I did get into and signed up at BanjoHangout and now a member. Though them I found a claw hammer teacher today. So I am on my way and may be as good as you some day. Just kidding there. It looks like everyone out there in the You Tube world has a big head start on me. I look forward to seeing new vids from you since I have subscribed to ya now. Thanks again.
Thanks for making that video. I am thinking of going with the long neck my self because of the more plunky deeper sound. I did listen to your 100 year old banjo video as well in the ADADE and that sounded awesome too. I have been playing for 6 months now on a Fender FB58 resonator and I am thinking future open back purchase with the long neck too. I have been eyeing the Gold Tone WL-250LN Any suggestions on that?
Hello banjopickins, thanks for the comments. Have you heard the new Goldtone Cello banjo? Now that has a wonderful deep sound. I do like Goldtone instruments. I really love openback. I play mostly nylon strings now so I am getting used to that sound and feel. So much easier on my frailing fingernails. Good luck to you.
haha right after I read your comment, I went to the Banjohangout and saw someone talking about that banjo you mentioned. They advertised it as something they saw: New Gold Tone WL250 for clearance $499. Just thought you would want to know.
Nice pickin', Merit. Love the sound you're getting from that "long neck" banjo of yours. Are you stringing it with heavy-gauge strings to achieve that nice bottom-end sound? It kinda reminds me of some of the stuff John Hartford would play. Anyway, be seeing you around at the Banjo Hangout (I'm BHO member "Studebaker Hawk", by the way).
Thanks for the comment. it was just regular gauge strings (guess they were light). That banjo has had some issues since it was pieced together. I always seem to be tinkering with it to get it to sound right. haha I think it is the birds eye maple resonator that gives it that deep sound.
Thanks for commenting by the way, I think you play beautifully. I think it's inpressive how you can play in more than one tuning... I'm at the moment only comfortable in open G.

that is wonderful. The BanjoHangout is such an awesome place. I have met a few of the people at banjo camps. Lots of good info there on both styles.
