I'm still stuck on the fox host who said he majored in history in college. Wow, I didn't know anyone on that network actually had formal education because I never hear anything near intelligent coming from them.
The two talking mannequins on the sofa took long enough to get the idea that they were doing an interview — good grief, they could not take enough air out of the room with their thoughtless blather, eerily juxtaposed with Dreyfuss' comment about the plight known as 3-minute useless interviews.
And that jackass punk at the end sure had it backward on respect and gratitude. He should be fired immediately after a good slapping.
I can name two shows that offer differing view points about American society: PBS Nightly Business Report and News Hour. The only true journalism I see these days...
Poor guy, he is having a rough time during his remaining years left on this earth and wants everyone to be empathetic towards life in general. He is clinically bi polar, but i believe has good intentions and is effective when speaking clearly.
@charliewheeler21 I don't even know who the dumb bastard is, only to be a stupid fox fuck, but he doesn't look that old. Who is the paid actress sitting on the couch with the clinically bi polar dumb fuck? And, what is her diagnosis, doc?
Dreyfuss talks to these transparently phony dumbasses on FIXED "NEWS" and the moron johnnydollar who posted this video asks the typical bullshit drug question "was Dreyfuss on something?". Lol What an idiot. Get a fucking clue.
It seems he was on the defense as the interview started and it made for a strange flow. It is a hard setting, knowing you want to get the word out and feel that timer ticking before the next McBrand commercial needs to barge in. It's the whole reason I stopped watching TV.
As an actor, I love Richard Dreyfuss. He's very talented and one of my favorite actors. When it comes to politics, I very much dislike Richard Dreyfuss. Strange huh? LOL
I do appreciate what he's trying to do though. He is trying to better America and I commend him for that. In general though, he's a little too liberal for my tastes. I'm not going to judge a person entirely on politics... I'm sure he's a great person overall. I hope he keeps on acting. I'll go to every movie he makes.
What children are taught is the most powerful force for change on this planet. You can domesticate them into some belief system that benefits you and/or like-minded people or you can free them to be critical thinkers. The worst thing we can do is let them become mindless, dumb and lazy.
what's retarded about some of the comments under this video is that the thing that he's proposing is to reintroduce an essentially conservative way of looking at government and culture into the classroom.
not "conservative" in the sense of teaching children that the world sits at the center of a six thousand year old universe and that jesus rode a dinosaur, but in the sense that an instruction on the origins and vitality of western, enlightenment republicanism undermines marxist pedagogy.
i actually remember his opening salvo on this from a couple of years ago, and i think his idea is pretty credible. i think modernist thinking has killed civics. modernists want to talk about everything in terms of grand theories.
Peculiar? on something? No, I think he's just frustrated. He spent the first half of the interview trying to explain that variety and sound-bytes hardly ever do justice to an issue--this applies to the popularity contest of elections, as he mentioned, as much as the superficiality of cable news. Mostly it's about time and extended attention. The message he's trying to get across would be better suited in a real conversation, yet 4minutes hardly gives him enough room and you all miss the point!
@theseanze If he had cut down on the whining, he could have said more about his cause. Four minutes is about all the time any station gives anyone. Let's face it, it's hardly a major story right now. Did ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, or MSNBC give him any more time? He's just not that big anymore, and like it or not, it's all about money on every network, cable or conventional.
@Gazzara5 -- The fact he has a nasally voice doesn't mean he was whining, and anyone invited on has some cause to represent. Did anyone single out Fox as the problem? All the networks do it, that's what we're saying. This isn't about him and his faded stardom, and like it or not people are starving every day, but does that make people stop talking or worrying about it??
Although I do think it is likely that Fox is the only network I've seen inviting him on because they like to make straw-men
Peculiar? Not really. This is on par with his previous crazy rants. He turns that philosophically intelligent mode on and doesn't realize he just looks crazy to everyone else. It's just his way of trying to make everyone believe he's above them. But he's crazy. Period. You can find numerous interviews where he exhibits how crazy he is.

Soooooooo he complains on not having enough time to talk in a 3 to 4 minute interview yet he took about a minute to whine?
Man this is embarrassing but not surprising. Either was stoned or drunk or he was putting on a show.
jrc99us 1 year ago
He might have a few points, but blaming Fox news for the lack of civics courses in school is just ridiculous.
He should be at a PTA meeting, not a cable news morning show.
