when Bowie was cured of his addiction it was like the young lad in Equus cured of his horse addiction, turned him into an anodine, mediocrity. Bowie was great up to Low, but that was his last work of genius. Let's Dance, Super Creeps, China Girl....load of tosh if you ask me
@thevisitortjn2 well its a superb post, and one i have never seen!!!!just loving David's oversize clothes, and the look of" I don't know what day it is"....haha,thanks again
Yes, Don Cornelius mispronounces David's name, but many did, and still do. I heard that twerp Avril Lavigne pronounce it "Bow (as in "take a bow) - eee". Others would pronounce it like that thing you attach your boat to -" Boooo- eeee". n - buoy.
Don't let me hear that you don't love me, not in these Golden Ears. I'm Forengie and don't you ever leave me, without touching my Golden Ears. Run for the lat lobes, run for the frontal, hide in the shadows of my Golden Ears. When you rub them, I believe anything you say..........OMG, rub them all the way.........
@monicahaynesnino Lip syncing wasn't uncommon back then in particular with Soul Train & American Bandstand. If it were a solo artist (like Bowie), they'd either send a sound track of the song. Then the artist would either lip sync or sing over the audio track. That way, the label didn't have the expense of sending an entire band. The rhythm guitar riff is almost hypnotic. "Midnight Special" & "Rock Concert" always was captured live. Still, great song.

@themachman19691 Yup i'm a legend in my own mind. LOL
I requested this track on my then fav (encrypted) local music channel.
I did ask for both tracks, plus the full interview, but they just broadcast the intro and G.Y's, then put it into 'light rotation'.
They got the original Beta-cam tape out of the vault, and it looked quite good on a analogue transponder, plus it is IN SYNC !.

Am I the only one who thinks this sounds like the studio version of the song only slightly sped up just under a half step?

i want to hug and feed him! what a skinny, sexy thing!
Eggs4Eva 4 months ago 3
@Eggs4Eva Indeed.
All he would have wanted back then would have been a glass of milk.
Bowie said he had a few alcoholic drinks pre-show in the green room, hence his shouting of the songs title in the intro.
Dangerous weight loss due to the milk and white powder diet. IMO.

Wonder what Elvis Presley's version would have sounded like ?.
Had he taken up Bowie's offer to release a version of the song.
Presley probably thought the songs content was too much like 'Twilight Years', the last thing the King needed in 1975.

@thevisitortjn2 I'm a big Elvis fan. I had NO idea about that! Just imagine. Thanks for sharing that.

Not sure if he would've been able to sing even if he had planned on it. He was so nervous he drank a whole bottle of wine before he performed.

Great upload, I appreciate it. It would be in sync if Bowie had been doing a better job at lip syncing haha
