I've been trying to keep up with all the technical niggles that are going in in ALMS and IMSA right now. Am I correct in saying that this car is built for the GT (Formely GT2) category and if so, its powered by a 5.5L V8 rather than the GT1's 7.0L?
As I was watching the video I was trying to see the effort it took to press the paddle shifters. It didn't look like any pressure at all. I currently have a EVOX as a daily commuter with the SST auto and when I take her to the track and use the SST Track mode in auto sounds exactly like that, (Shift points not actual engine sound). Wish I had a SST in my 2006 Z06 where I could have every shift type option available,
i really respect your driving skills. hopefully in this years season the car has progressed and the corvette team will be able to pull out a lot more wins. thanks for posting these clips.
@dome005 I could understand if these changes increase safety but this is just making driving easier. And driving a GT doesn't make so much G-forces that you can't stick shift or watch your mirrors.
there you have a true race car. Your "true" race cars are getting more ridiculous every year as the endurance drivers are getting more lazy. Not saying that i'm in a better shape but hey this is their job.
Nice helmet cam. But aren't paddle shifters a bit boring? Personally, I don't like this trend. As a spectator, I like big GT cars with sequential gearbox and heel&toe downshifting. It's some kind of challenge.
@cortkatanakx1q Most race cars are switching to paddles. You try racing the 24 hour Le Mans or 24 Hour Nurburgring whith a stick. I perfer a stick with sequential gearbox but paddles make it that much better and driver friendly on a real race track in a real race car. I'm speaking with experience though so that's just MHO.
@ProTuner06 Yes, I understand that. But still, as a spectator, I want to see some "action" in cockpit. Plus, it makes some room for drivers errors. I love cockpit cam and can't imagine FIA GT1 cars for example with paddle shifters. I prefer SQ even in racing sims. Paddle shifters are too boring after a while. There is just something about it when you can push/pull gear lever. :) I hope SQ won't be abandoned completely.
Also I am looking for information regarding the pedals. Specifically what brand and model plates they used on the old GT1 car.
I also need high detail pictures of the button box, steering wheel and button plate, as well as the dash.
I tried to figure out how to contact Corvette Racing but they don't have a phone number or email so I thought I would try my luck and see if you would be willing to help with the info.
That rear view camera would really really distract me. I guess you just get used to it

@saatana4 the only reason they have the camera is because there is no back window in the C6R so the camera is required

Safety net so the driver doesn't bounce all over the cabin in a crash

Hey Tom I'm trying to build a C6R GT1 replica for my Simulator and was wondering what model the "Personal" steering wheel they used to use.
Thanks mate.

Btw with that new gear box do you still have to rev match or is it left foot braking and off the throttle downshift?
zippy476 5 months ago
@zippy476 The car blips automatically but I right foot brake only because it's a bit tight in the car for me. I can do both though if I want.
