  • Thank you! I learned to leaf all the way down heel side without falling on my 3rd run! Now to practice my toe side.

  • looks like a black diamond

  • what kind of jacket is that i really like it

  • it sounds easy when u talk about it, but when ur learning to snowboard you totally forget what your suppose to do, its gonna take some falls but eventually youll learn to balance and how much pressure to exert. you cant think about what your suppose to do , you just gotta go do it. i went for the first time and my friend tried to explain to me how to turn and stop, didnt help cause when i started goin i just forgot. took a few hard falls and caught edges but thats how you learn

  • i used to sideslip.. then i took an arrow to the knee..

no but i did until i learned how to traverse

  • great tutorials! thanks

  • He sounds like Nicolas Cage =P

  • sushh now mister wind.. i can barely hear what the good man is saying.

  • i can go on my toe side no problem.... heel edge has a problem =/

  • @1androo2 I've got the exact opposite problem!!!

  • Also great as a refresher for someone like myself looking to get back into the sport after a 22 year absence. It's great of you to take some time and offer these videos for anyone to use. You certainly could be paid for it. Thanks!

  • i would totally pay you to be my instructor!!! lol . i love your videos! they are soooo good

  • u make sound so easy lol but great vids

  • u da bomb

  • you tell 2 times the same ting

  • I'm bout to start SB for the first time and all your videos are lots of help

  • I went today, and had real success with your sideslip advice. I used the flexing you described and it worked just as you said. I effected the falling leaf mode, and even linked a couple turns. Today, just getting down the hill in control, equal on toe and heel, in travers, was enough. Thanks again.

  • Excellent instruction. I'll be practicing this tomorrow!

  • I really appreciate the time and effort put into these snowboarding videos for beginners. Thanks!

  • This is right on. I had my first day today and looked this up when I got home. Exactly what my buddy showed me to do. Basics. Today was a tough day but it gets better I hear. Hope so. I just had an ice bath to ease my aching bones.

  • 10/10 gj!

  • just put in subtitles maybe? i love love love what you did with your hands to show the foot work!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats such a great idea because i get so confused!! easier said than done but the arm work really shows!!!

  • woah... I don't wanna be a gaper...

  • I already know how to snowboard but i was curious to see how these instructions would be and its absolutely amazing, everyone should know though that snowboarding is harder to learn then skiing but i think its more fun so dnt expect to get everything down in one day...but i went boarding today and a group of kids were just side slipping and all the trails were iced@!

  • 10x man

  • i wish i had ur instruction :(

  • The hand thing was stellar!! I was looking for someone to explain it that exact same way! lol

  • can't hear you

  • what mountain is that ?

  • only good beginners ive found, i just moved to Colorado and plan on snowboarding in a couple weeks, its nice to see a video that will actually help.

  • Hi again, i've now found i board with a softer flex as i believe this will be better for my beginner - intermediate level. Would this be better than a hard flex? Also, what would the softer flex allow me to do? Thankyou

  • Hi there, thanks for the video. I'm looking to buy a snowboard and i have found a board i think will be alright for me. Though i'm not sure about the flex, the flex is tailored medium - stiff flex pattern. Would this be ok for turning alot like this? Please tell me what this flex would allow me to do. Thanks alot!

  • Nice videos, very helpful. What mountain is this?

  • ha wth it repeated

  • Yea man never snowboarded before watched your vid for week's went to Canada and my instructor was well impressed three lessons two would have done.

    A big Cheers

Came back home and watched a lot of people with no idea what they were doing

  • this video is very old, but I love the way you teach. I hope you'll remake this to HD, it will be very helpful for newbie (including me) :)

  • this is video is very old, but i love the way you teach. why don't you remake this to HD quality. it would be really helpful for newbie (including me) :)

  • aww i so want to learn how to snowboard! I'm getting lessons soon, but i really hope this video gives me some help before i go!

  • these are great videos =) btw... you kinda sound like nicolas cage :O

  • Thanks loads for your series! Helps me review what I had done the first time. Looking forward to my second time. Keep up the good work!

  • Your board looks really small for you...

  • Cheers for the advice people, I've ended up booking 6 hours at a indoor snow ramp, 2 hours beginner, 2 hours intermediate, and 2 hours advanced. I imagine it to be a very tiring day but am very excited to say the least.

  • You put the same clip in twice I think.

  • i'm goin snowboading in a few weeks and was thinking bout lessons but there about 50 per hour, is it worth it, and if so how many would i need ? ?

  • @SteBest only 1 to learn the basics. I took only 1 lesson(2hours) 2 years ago and when i went snowboarding a week ago, in 2 days i mastered it pretty well.

  • @SteBest if u do get some i'd only get 1

  • If it's your first time, yes get some. I reallllllly don't regret taking my first lesson. And 1 or 2 should suffice. the 3rd is usually a trick class.

  • tippy toes

  • hey i am going snowboarding for the first time and these were outstanding videos and i watched all of them. i am going to snowboard school though but when im out i will keep these things in mind and use my safety thanks again!

  • I would like to ask you guys something...is it easy to learn? :) Did you fall or not when you ride the first time?

  • it is fairly hard to start but as soon as you have the teqnique you will be fine.. :)

  • @Focista90 you fall a lot :) but it gets easier... and its fun when u reliaze youre starting to get it

  • falling teaches you what not to do.

  • yea, just started. biggest lesson from falling...don't catch an edge going fast

  • @Focista90 you ARE going to fall, sooner or later.

But as long as you don't ride 20-30 mph it won't be that bad ^^

It actually is really easy to learn, so good luck :)

  • its a lot harder to learn than skiing, and for the first 3 days you snowboard you are going to fall and bruise a lot. but its worth it when you finally get it down

  • thats wat happened to me, the first day, my knees hurt so much i can barely walk :(

  • @yiweisixy2

    haha did you fall backwards?

  • I will go snowboarding on this weekend and i'll do this for the first time in my life...I tried to lear the basics from here and i'm curious what will i do on my way down on a hill :D HOpe i wont fall (to many times)

  • The problem with this video is that he assumes that you have a torsional flexy board. Not all boards flex tortionally like that.

  • Ya this is a really good video.... the thing is though... that if you go and you dont know what your doing.... you pretty quickly going to learn what to do.... cause you really dont want to fall.... LOL

  • very true thats how i learned XD

  • yhey, gonna go Snowboarding Tomorrow, hope this Videos will help me!^^

But your Snowboard Tutorials are really good until now, gonna look the rest of your Videos too today.

  • same here dude my teacher sucked pretty badly. good thing im a quick learner or else i wouldve been fallin on my ass like my sister! :D

  • I wish I had watched these when I started. Nice job.

  • @BarneyTee I'm going snowboarding tomorrow! The first time I ever did I had a practice board at an old school I used to go to where we'd snowboard down the big hills, but I've never actually been snowboarding on a mountain. This lesson was pretty good for beginners!

  • the first time i went snowboarding, i was just wingin it. i know how to snowboard now, but it's nice to actually learn for once!!

  • @BarneyTee

Dont worry about ski lifts. Everyone or most people get nervous and cant get on/off a ski lift. Hell I hate getting off the ski lift. Thats the worst part about a mountain. But dont worry if you fall. Everyone does.

  • Please take a lesson. it WILL make it a lot easier

  • get lessons first

  • did he say "you look like a gay bird" ? lol

  • Yes :p Haha

  • @Vladd7 i think he said gaper lol

  • he is good

  • This videos are great, theres a lot of info in them! I went up to the summit last weekend and hands down these videos helped me out. What I found the most useful was how to get on the lift, and how to get back up from a fall.

  • windy! =O!

  • man im itching to get on the slops but i can theres no snow where i am right now and im getting my board waxed so im watching vids that i dont need to watch lol all thought your giveing me so good pointers even thought ive been boardin for a while

  • great info!

    way betta than

    expert village :)

  • @soccer18jr Expert Village Sucks at explaining Snowboarding!

  • asome thanks dude

  • Thx Man

  • I gotta give these lessons props. I hadnt boarded in about 6 to 7 years and when I did board i totally sucked. I came across these video lessons, studied them over and over, and supplemented them with "expert village lessons" on line also and recently hit up tahoe. My first run was squirrelly, but then I thought back to the lessons and applied them. After mt second run I was linking turns and carving. It helped to have powder and a long wide steeper(intermediate run. THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEOS

  • LOL it went twice.

  • lol at "total gayfer"

  • hahaha gayfer

  • lmao!! that part cracked me up

  • the term is GAPER. - tourist who GAPES at everything possible. hence, see a tourist on the streets gawking at the snow, yell, GAPER!! :P

  • my board is too heavy for me....*signs*...well theres always next year

    Thx for the vids!!

  • Thanks for putting these videos up, it's of some help, But do you have any tips for how not to fall?

Like, I'll start going down the hill but less than two seconds later, I'm tumbling! I ride goofy too so... Is it just gotta develop snowboard balance or what?

  • thanks for the vids it helped me

  • Great videos, I've been getting frustrated with learning to snowboard and didn't feel like I got much out of a lesson I took. After watching this series a few times I went out again and had the best day yet. Thanks for the help.

  • Was going about 20mph when I tried my first toe side stop. Backflip time was engaged.

  • ReadThisBelow, I know exactly what you mean. So it's my first time snowboarding, and I'm going straight down the hill, attempt to go to toe side... Heels drop down.... and What do you know? Im a gymnast!

  • LMAO.

I was lucky that I put my coat hood up, because I bounced my head off the ice 4 seconds later. Then I understood why people wore helmets.

  • awesome

  • Ohhh great i guess im kind of ready to get a beating on my snowboard!!!! 1st baby and i thought i could do 1080 of a half pipe on my 1st day yeahhhhhhhhh right hahahah!!

  • Quality, easy to understand and enough detail. Now if only i can move from heelside to toeside without flicking the back around!

  • great videos...he said 'gaper'

  • thanks a lot. very helpful video, the best of all i could have found.

  • O.o fallen leaf is suppose to like up the heel?XD i used it to do like Z towards down lol like heel side left leg lean than i do down in a \ than right foot lean than does / XD

  • thanks dude for the lessons

  • Good footage. Record better sounds, get better shots and u can sell it ;)

  • that helped me a lot thanks.

  • i thought he was about to fall into the trees at the end haha

  • thx for the videos, they have been really helpful

  • anybody got tips for toe-side?

  • better to lean too far forward than too little.

  • That is really really useful dude Im at Las Leñas right now and lost to classes and My friendas said that your video is actually better hahaha you rock

  • i couldnt hear anything the wind was blowing

  • Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, the weather went to hell on me and the wind became loud. I plan on re-shooting this sometime to get a better audio.

  • If you do re-shoot, you might consider having the person with you on the lift in the last video. A step by step as you plan to get off would be cool. A lot of people psych themselves out before exiting the chair and I think a mental walkthrough so they could focus would help a lot.

  • you could use a jawbone mic, or even just redub it inside with the footage you've got.

This is really good. I haven't snowboarded in 7 years, and plan to this weekend. I think you've covered in better terms everything that my instructors did when I was starting.

  • @ufp1701 or you can add the subtitle in the video

    Thanks for the great videos

  • @ufp1701 Perhaps you can just add subtitles

  • Great job wulf. All three vids actually REALLY helped me.

Try editing this to fix the audio though.
