  • Paul fired Drake Levin from Ed Sullivan show. Went through several band member changes at their peak. Used studio musicians instead of the band on many records. See his half baked eulogy to Drake. I think paul is possibly a jerk. Too bad.

  • Looking for a clean (non-comic) version of this song ...I believe off their "Here They Come" album. Strange, but I can't find it ANYWHERE on any of the on-line music sites ..even to buy. A message to the Paul Revere website, about where it might be available, went unanswered. Too bad.

  • GREAT.

  • @torchkit Oh, I see. That makes sense. They were always clowning around anyway. That's what made Paul Revere & The Raiders a real tight band in the '60's.

  • one of my FAVES! THIS SONG, IF PUT OUT TODAY;WOULD BE A MONSTER HIT.I REALLY BELEIVE THAT.

  • A great version of a great song. Wish I could find a clean version without the jacked up goofing around and the wrecked audio on this video.

  • One thing I cannot understand, is when Paul Revere says "He don't know the words" in reference to Mark Lindsay. Mark sang the right words (yes, I listened to Ferlin Husky's version just to compare). Maybe that was just part of their comedy. If someone can let me know that would be cool. I'm just very curious. :)

  • @1962drob Mark was lip syncing and they were making a joke of it. Paul was saying that Mark didn't remember the words to move his mouth to. The follow up joke was "He's trying to hide (his mouth) behind the mike."

  • This is an insult to Ferlin Husky and his beautiful song.

  • The Raiders are on the cove of Shindig magazine. Nice to know that in the spring of 2010 there are still people who remember them. The costumes were a one time gimmick that they did. The next gig they were being asked where the costumes were and knew that their audience wanted them. It became their trademark and doomed to rock's sillier section. As a result they don't get the respect the should for tunes like: Kicks, Hungry, Just Like Me, Steppin' Out, Him or Me, Great Airplane Strike.

  • love,this,song. thank you

  • "Have you noticed Mark's hidin' behind the mike because he don't know the words."

    Mike fright.

  • very sorry to hear of DLS death.i was only about 1 yr old back then but i have always been touched by music from the 60s-70s.beatles monkees,paul/raiders,zep,the who, etc...were all gettin old i guess.great post, great guitarist great band, thanx

  • Great song.

  • It was sick 40 years ago when it was recorded and has not improved.

    Just an insult!!

  • Go to Branson Mo. there still at 6 months

a year!!! Still a good show.

  • they were a great band, but their dumb 'shtick' got in the way of the music. I guess it was funny at the time.

  • On Independance day (yesterday) morning around 9AM Guitarist Drake Levin passed away. He was almost 63 -birthday next month- and had been fighting cancer for a while. He will be very missed by us "Raider Rooters".

Please go and look up philfangvolk web page for a memorial section. Phil and Drake had been friends since they were about freshmen in high school -age 14-

Good night sweet prince of the melodic rock guitar, you haven't strayed far for you are in my/our heart(s)...

  • Really sorry to hear that. Drake was one of kind. My memories of the early Raiders are priceless. R.I.P.

  • Great band. Love your voice Mark.

  • Fang was always mugging for the camera - what a tool. And he was only the BASS player, for Gods sake. He couldn't carry Mark Lindsay's used jock strap.

  • @franklinrocks1

Aw come on now let's don't be petty. ;)

  • The Raiders were great. They never took themselves too seriously.

  • @rvisual

Not until the end when the fight began w/btw Mark & Paul,

Then Mark made the split from the group & went on his own.

The Raiders were never as popular again.

I remember the gossip in Tiger Beat magazine reading about the secret jelousie that Paul had towards Mark.

I can't believe that after all these years I remember that?

Well? No memory loss yet? lol

  • @Godzie1 Paul Revere Dick was the least important member of his own band...

  • @DocWyoming So true. Even though his name Paul Revere was suppose to be the head man of the group? Mark was the one all the girls wanted! (Including me!) lol

  • @Godzie1 Not to keep knocking Revere, but a purely Mark Lindsay led band could have had the credibility of the Rolling Stones. After Eric Burdon, he had the best soul sounding rock voice in rock... even ahead of Mick Jagger.

  • @rvisual that was their problem. fun is fun. they were a band with a lot of talent. but i think it's a same they pushed the "funny" way too much. maybe they would have been more respected now if they had a balance between the music and humor..

  • Fun to see the images from vintage "16" magazines in movement from tv shows recorded the same week the photos were taken!

  • Wouldn't it be great if Dan Snider, would release these shows mainly featuring the Raiders on DVD. What treasures!!!!Thanks

  • Does anybody remember the Raider coach?

It was powered by a GTO engine and had the front end of a GTO.

  • When I saw this song in the videos list, I wondered if it was going to be this song (which I knew that the Raiders had recorded) or another song they did, which I think was a group original, called "Gone (Movin' On)", sometimes just referred to as "Gone".

  • I thought it was " Gone ( Movin' on) too.I'd love to see some of the old Bandsand footage. One of my favorite songs was "Tighter" . Anyone have a video clip of that one??? Also, I would LOVE to see a video clip of Mark singing Silverbird. That would be awesome!!!!!

  • Actually, the footage you have in mind is more likely from other Dick Clark shows - "Where the Action Is", "Happening 68", and "It's Happening". The group was a regular on all three. They may have made guest appearances on "American Bandstand", but they are best known for the other shows. Dan Snider, who also owns my favorite NFL team, now owns the rights to old Dick Clark shows, and he's been pretty vigilant about having this stuff removed from YouTube. I think he should release it all!

  • @rslitman I know you posted this info at least 2 years ago, but is this still true? This guy was in diapers back

then, so what the hell is he doing with it?? And all along I'd been bad-mouthing Dick Clark for sitting on a gold mine!! :/

  • @bze2nlz4 I don't know if it's still true. I do see stuff from "American Bandstand" and "Where the Action Is" show up here, but I don't know how long it stays.

  • What happened to the sound? It seemed ok last time I watched this, now it is out of synch.

  • Wow...old Rick Shaw shows? Where did you ever find these? :-)

  • It's interesting that Keith Allison is in this clip and of course ended up in the group. This must be from a tv appearance from one of the cities that the Where The Action Tour sto

  • Paul was just jealous,Lindsay was the only

one with real talent in the band that

bore his name,he never got over the fact,

he almost didn't play a note on all of

    their brilliant recordings./

  • It sounds like they actually did a really good version of this song.

  • Another GREAT Raiders Vid! Thanks!

  • This is amazing...first time I've seen this live TV show ..........and I was a go-go girl for 3 years! The one with the white clip in hair smiling from ear to ear! Thanks so much for these memories!

  • cool! debra
