She jumped a fence and broke her leg in two places. There was no way we could have saved her and I was not there for her until the day came to put her down. I did not even know about it until that day. I miss my girl every single day.... may he and Shiloh meet in horse heaven and rest in peace together :)

Tear , this happend to me...tear .......we had rescued a pony from slaughter .....he was the best...then one day I did not know this was going to happen ......but the vet pulled up in the car...can you imagen every day going and see him in pain yet you were the nursing back to health and he was getting better...and when you needed to have him walk he would do it for you...and when he saw you he would look at you with his big bright brown eyes and nicker as best he could...then just losing him..
the poor horse could of been in pain and sometimes when the get to that age when they go lame it dosnt heal and if the horse was mistreated by owns before these wonderful people the hores could of been damaged pretty bad

@9ale9flippy sometimes horses can look fine and healthy but they are lame or they aren't going to make it through the winter thats why he might have had to be put down
sooooooooooooo sad and to al those peepole out there who think shadow is not an appy are worng. you dont have to a a fully classifyed appy pattern for it to be an appy. it could have a unregisterd coat pattern (of appys) thatis a mix between its sire and dam
I am so sorry for your loss, <3 However, those who are posting here are correct on his markings.This is not an appaloosa. I'd say he's a borderline breeding stock paint, and only borderline due to the white at his shoulder and above the hock on his hind legs. Snowflake pattern appaloosas can look very similar to roan markings, all the way on up to blanket style without the dark markings on the blanket. Also, no signs of the "toad spot" eyes or lips, which are almost 100% characteristic.

I'm so sorry he had to be put down and I understand that he was very close to you and I have never felt this pain so I can't say I know what you're going though but I know what it feels like to lose a family member and I expect it feels almost like that. I hope you've managed to move on and may he rest in peace :)

OH MY GOD does it really matter what breed he is!!! What does it matter! You guys need to dhut up about the breed, I think the person who owns the horse knows the breed better than you do, and even if your right, she just lost her horse, be a bit nicer, it terrible to lose a horse, and you guys are acting like it doesn't matter, if you can't be nice THEN DON"T COMMENT

Tear , this happend to me...tear .......we had rescued a pony from slaughter .....he was the best...then one day I did not know this was going to happen ......but the vet pulled up in the car...can you imagen every day going and see him in pain yet you were the nursing back to health and he was getting better...and when you needed to have him walk he would do it for you...and when he saw you he would look at you with his big bright brown eyes and nicker as best he could...then just losing him..

the poor horse could of been in pain and sometimes when the get to that age when they go lame it dosnt heal and if the horse was mistreated by owns before these wonderful people the hores could of been damaged pretty bad

My grandpa had a horse that had been alive snice my dad was a kid and still is alive and my dad is too. But his name was duke my grandpa had to sell duke and sentall because he is 79 and can't go take care of him and he sold them last sunday when was over at the house. it broke my heart when found out. cause duke and sentall became a part of me they felt like they were mine . they will always be in my heart. He had another horse named jim that had to be put down cause my uncle didn't take care

He looks like a pretty healthy 30 year old horse to me. Did you guys put him down because he was 'old'? We had a 34 year old Arabian that had to be put down because he broke a hip. But we wouldnt have had to put him down for a little while longer. He was fat and happy and very healthy. I was just wondering if you put him down because he was 30 or if there were any other reasons behind it. Thanks! Very pretty boy though, sorry you had to put him down.

I am so sorry for your loss, <3 However, those who are posting here are correct on his markings.This is not an appaloosa. I'd say he's a borderline breeding stock paint, and only borderline due to the white at his shoulder and above the hock on his hind legs. Snowflake pattern appaloosas can look very similar to roan markings, all the way on up to blanket style without the dark markings on the blanket. Also, no signs of the "toad spot" eyes or lips, which are almost 100% characteristic.
