5 volts throughout the system, but the LEDs were current controlled by the LED controller chips. Current was still quite high for all those LEDs, over 1amp I think.
So were talking about 5watts, not too bad as the table is pretty bright.
Everyone check out all my other disco table project videos after this one, there are several detailing a lot of the design and build process...
Check out "Disco Table project vid3" on my channel page for the latest update.
The project has slowed down a little recently, work + other obligations.
However I've written all the software for the Daft Punk effect (as seen in other peoples YT vids) but the code needs some serious tidying up before its good to go.
I'm also ready to carry on work on the actual coffee table this is going into.
Remember this is only half the total wires because its only half of the 6x6 array!
There are ways of reducing the wiring, but it means reducing the total brightness, and strobing a horiz. or vert. line of LEDs at a time, similar to how an old CRT television works on scanlines (not sure about modern day TFTs but I think they strobe too).
Stay tuned, today I'll be working on adding the other half. Will probably upload a vid for this too, that will be the proof of concept completed.

i'm pretty sure theres a way to do this more compactly, and maybe use color changing LED's, have 4 or more colors

Why do people record videos like this, zooming in to show us stuff, but not saying anything. Neat, but don't be afraid of your own voice.

@Psychlist1972
Thanks, but you probably wouldn't say that if you heard my voice!

@H3liosphan Cool! These LEDs produce alot of light. How much current drives each one of them?

Wow, cant believe you need all those wires just for that. Looks very cool though.
