When Tamaki said "Cute, your as pretty as a girl, adorable!" and those girls moaned, I wanted to hit them so badly and say, "Don't you dare not like vic's voice."
i don't know what the people were being like that if they didn't like it they shoud have just walked out of the room. in my oponion i died of laughter watching it for whatever reason after i finished it, i waited at least a few months before i was in the mood to watch it again and i'm not sure but i think i laughed harder the second go round.

They got the voices to fit half of the characters personality like Tamaki his japanese worked well when he was being all "prince" like but in the english dub they made the voice really good for when he was being all stupid and silly XD. They pretty much just got a uke voice for Kaoru to insted of the deep one that turns really high XP.
I'm one of the few Asians that prefer the English dubs. (Except, of course, the tragically terrible ones.) Actually, Ouran was done exceptionally well. I prefer the dub over the original.
Funimation generally does a great job and the ones that air on Cartoonnetwork are usually well done. I'm not sure if Ouran was aired there though, but it was amazing nonetheless. And dub VAs have harder jobs!
I loved it ^^ people are bitching because they expect the characters to sound Exactly the same as the original!! Let's be realistic: it's a different language; of course they won't sound the same! I totally agree.. People are certainly entitled to their opinion, and if you like the Japanese more, that's fine. Some people are waaaay over-the-top about it, though. Interestingly enough, a lot of people who say, "the Japanese voices are ALWAYS, perfect, they NEVER do a bad job"...often don't speak a word of Japanese themselves. So it's like, you say the Japanese is perfect, but you don't speak a word of the language, so really, how would you know for sure that it's perfect?
What you say is also true. I mean, though there are a few jokes that cannot be translated from Japanese into English, some are quite lucky adaptations. (like in Azumanga Daiō, the "bus gas blast" thing wasn't as bad as it could have been.)

I like the Japanese better. In the English dub, Haruhi sounds tired and the twins don't sound very naughty. Tamaki sounds so much hotter in the Japanese dub. Also, the songs were dubbed in English, and the people they got to sing...can't sing. Alnd I'm a big Last Alliance fan, so it really pissed me off how the song was dubbed in the first place. Lots of animes don't dub the Japanese songs, why should Ouran?
I don't know why people still bitch about the dubbing. it's not like how it was at the beginning when the translators really didn't care. today we have avid anime fans working as voice-actors and their damn good at it too.
I like dub for I'm dyslexic, it's can be hard for me to keep up with what's doing on without having to stop the video, which I do often. you tend to miss the joke if you have to go back and read it.

I really don't see what the problem is... I don't understand peopel and their obsessions on 100% the voices are compared to the original. They'll have to get over it and deal with the fact there's an english at all. :/ Besides that, they were really good. Now that that's out of the way, I feel better. I actually can't wait to see this dub in full, personally. I love Ouran, so I can sit through this. (I love the original sailor moon, but can sit through the dub.) I actually like the sound of most of the voices (the others I couldn't hear and Caitlin doesn't have a very gender neutral voice. -1 point.)

I must say that I don't agree at all with the voice choices....I particularly hate Tamaki's. Tamaki is not british...not all rich people are british...Tamaki is FRENCH. Very dissapointing.
don't blame Vic for the choice of accent. the ADR (or whatever) directors are the ones who choose that sort of thing. I'm sure if Vic had it his way, Tamaki woulda been more...Tamaki.

Honestly, I thought Vic should have been either one of the twins or Kyoya. Vic has more of a sly voice style than overly flamboyant. But yeah, it sounded like he is forcing it but he tried. Even if I don't like him, I respect him because he is one of the good voice actor. But sometimes, he just needs to deflate his ego once in a while at least.
tamaki and haruhi were absoloutley KILLED but i like everyone else... kyouya's voice will definetley take some getting used to, cuz he doesn't sound like a 17-year-old at all, but it's not a BAD voice. hunny is good and mori, hikaru and kaoru are PERFECT!!! :D but i hate tamaki and haruhi's voice.

It's pretty much were use to what we see so basically try not complain i know how you feel I've complain on some anime. But, there not bad. Besides this is in english. Haruhi's voice may be a bit weird but you might get use to it later on.
er, not quite. for example. I watched Rurouni Kenshin in english first, and when i saw the Japanese version, i loved it more than the english version. but kenshin's voice was a bit high o.o thats the only thing.
It's interesting. When we got a preview at NDK this year, everyone in the room CHEERED when they heard the voices, as opposed to the cries of anguish featured here. Personally, i like most of the voices, but am still a bigger fan of the Japanese voices (i simply love Miyano Mamoru and Masaya Matsukaze's voices ^.^)
From what I hear, Hunny's english voice actor actually sounds better than I thought. The twins are a little iffy. Tamaki, well he's okay. Whatever,I'd still pick the Japanese version any day.+_+

I completely agree. I love Vic, don't get me wrong, he does good work. But I just don't think Tamaki was his best fit. He should have left Tama to someone who was, as you had said, a better match.

Hmm. I personally like everybody's voices for the dubbed version, especially Hikaru's. ^^ But...Kyouya sounds too old. D: Hmm, well, beggers can't be choosers I suppose. Oh well. =/ I also like the fact they keep "senpai" in the dubbed instead of taking it out. =D

This is stupid. I'm only buying the DVD to watch it in Japanese. He can't even say their names right. -Sigh- Vic, stick to short peoples voices. You SUCK as beautiful people, I even hated his voice as Dark Mousse. Caitlin Glass, THANKS for screwing up Ouran high.... You suck.
FIRST OFF they could've pronounced the vocies much worse, at leat they attempt to make the pronunciations the same!!! AND Vic isn't TRYING to sound like the original, he's just trying to keep the spirit of the character, which I believe he does well at. AND I'll have you know he respects Mamoru Miyano for his job at Tamaki. The dub isn't as good as the original, but WHEN EVER IS IT!? STOP COMPLAINING! THEY DID A RESPECTABLE JOB! They love this show.

The only thing that's bothering me is the change in Hikaru's line. Unless the sub I was watching was really bad, it seems that in the dub he's saying the exact *opposite* of the japanese line which was 'with this type, even if you take off the glasses the eyes will look even smaller'

It's... actually pretty good. Haruhi's voice could be... better, but I think vic actually fits tamaki pretty well! Kyoya.... good enough, the twins= Perfect!! not sure about mori since i didn't hear him... and honey... well it can't be all perfect.
Of course it cant be as good as the japenese version, but for english, so far it sounds all right. And surprisingly, I thought Huni's voice was actually pretty good. & Same for Tama-chans of course. :3
I personally think it sounds great! You can't be picky. What, you expect it to be exactly the same in English from how it was in Japanese? Yeah, not gonna happen. I know I'm getting this right when it comes out on DVD.

I've heard worse... these ones actually aren't TOO too bad. Nothing compaired to Basilisk's english cast - that one was AMAZING. But this is DEFINATELY better than Naruto and One Piece. XD
I like how they kept in the honorifics/suffixes, though; Basilisk did that too and I loved them for it.
I probably won't be avoiding the english version like the plague. =3

tamaki and haruhi were absoloutley KILLED but i like everyone else... kyouya's voice will definetley take some getting used to, cuz he doesn't sound like a 17-year-old at all, but it's not a BAD voice. hunny is good and mori, hikaru and kaoru are PERFECT!!! :D but i hate tamaki and haruhi's voice.

Hmm.... You know, I love the Japanease version, but the thing is... I don't hate the english voice actors. I think that (based on terrors in other dubbed anime) this isn't as bad as it could get. I kind of like Tamaki's voice... if you forget about the Japanese voice it kind of fits him.

Okay now I think this was pretty good I love all the voice. You know it's weird yes I know almost of all watched the anime in japanese. Well, were all use to that right?Now for example let say FMA(full metal alchemist. We watch the english dubb first and we kept watching it. And then when were done we go listen to the japanese version we don't like it.

It's pretty much were use to what we see so basically try not complain i know how you feel I've complain on some anime. But, there not bad. Besides this is in english. Haruhi's voice may be a bit weird but you might get use to it later on.

er, not quite. for example. I watched Rurouni Kenshin in english first, and when i saw the Japanese version, i loved it more than the english version. but kenshin's voice was a bit high o.o thats the only thing.

It's interesting. When we got a preview at NDK this year, everyone in the room CHEERED when they heard the voices, as opposed to the cries of anguish featured here. Personally, i like most of the voices, but am still a bigger fan of the Japanese voices (i simply love Miyano Mamoru and Masaya Matsukaze's voices ^.^)

From what I hear, Hunny's english voice actor actually sounds better than I thought. The twins are a little iffy. Tamaki, well he's okay. Whatever,I'd still pick the Japanese version any day.+_+

I don't know... I just never really pictured Vic and Tamaki. He's a brilliant VA, but it just seems a tad off. Maybe it's because I'll always automatically picture Ed Elric when I hear him. : /

Personally, I don't think any of them can really match the Jap. version. Especially since Tamaki doesn't have the "Prince" voice to fit. I mean, Tamaki is supposed to be a fox with a silver tongue- personally, I feel he should have just stuck with FMA and leave Tama to a better match.

I completely agree. I love Vic, don't get me wrong, he does good work. But I just don't think Tamaki was his best fit. He should have left Tama to someone who was, as you had said, a better match.

The first time I listened to this i wasn't big on it. But I've listened to it a few times and now I like it more!
Kyouya still sounds old though. I love it when Hunny's with usa-chan! Bwhaha I acidentally clicked audio preview and I heard this voice say what I was typing and I got freaked out.

FIRST OFF they could've pronounced the vocies much worse, at leat they attempt to make the pronunciations the same!!! AND Vic isn't TRYING to sound like the original, he's just trying to keep the spirit of the character, which I believe he does well at. AND I'll have you know he respects Mamoru Miyano for his job at Tamaki. The dub isn't as good as the original, but WHEN EVER IS IT!? STOP COMPLAINING! THEY DID A RESPECTABLE JOB! They love this show.

haruhi- needs to be a little more feminent. Even though she disguises herself as a boy still...
Hunny- seemed alright to me

n funimation normally does such a good job on their dubs. sure i dont expect it to b perfect, but i think they couldve done better for tamaki..that is my only complaint

The only thing that's bothering me is the change in Hikaru's line. Unless the sub I was watching was really bad, it seems that in the dub he's saying the exact *opposite* of the japanese line which was 'with this type, even if you take off the glasses the eyes will look even smaller'

Of course it cant be as good as the japenese version, but for english, so far it sounds all right. And surprisingly, I thought Huni's voice was actually pretty good. & Same for Tama-chans of course. :3

As a side not, I laughed so hard i fell out of my chair during this.
As soon as the twins finish talking, you hear an overpowering chorus of "NOOOOOOOO!" in the background. XD I seriously lost it laughing.

I've heard worse... these ones actually aren't TOO too bad. Nothing compaired to Basilisk's english cast - that one was AMAZING. But this is DEFINATELY better than Naruto and One Piece. XD
I like how they kept in the honorifics/suffixes, though; Basilisk did that too and I loved them for it.
I probably won't be avoiding the english version like the plague. =3
