  • at around 0:27 the girl with the white shirt looks like a full grown woman. That is a problem. 19 yrs old and a 11th grader. smh

  • Be sure to check out the video where the kids from the movie visit the White House. Not even the President of the United States can get these kids to listen to him! He's talking and they're fidgeting and squirming in their seats!

I'd like to see a reality show where Michelle Rhee teaches Remedial Math at a junior high in the inner-city! 5 classes with 35 students each! 5 days a week for at least 3 months! Then, a panel of education experts can critique her teaching!

  • @MsJanetWood Excellent idea!!! I'd like to see that too! I have nothing against Rhee, but she was never even a principal! hmmm, but she QUIT anyway... after realizing the "problem" was too BIG for her lol!

  • george parker is such a d-fing idiot!!! omg i get mad when i listen to him talk.

  • I bet all of those Urban Americans are mad, they had to bring in a Korean to fix the mess they have made. Maybe, just maybe the schools will see some improvement......NAH, not any real improvement.

  • If Rhee wants efficiency, why did she dismiss perfectly good principals?

DC had some great people in the school super position, but none of them could change anything. Why would Rhee do a better job?

  • Michelle thinks like a CEO! Her approach is simply to increase efficiency. How else if not to remove the inefficient? Teachers who are on just for the ride will have to get off. Teachers who are sincere about providing an effective, high quality learning experience and who can successfully demonstrate their effectiveness can stay. This is an obvious solution that every school system should adopt. Expect resistance from existing "freeloaders". Birds of a feather...seek out county jobs.

  • Wish she could come to my district. Of course, it would be alot harder to confront the California's Teacher's Association. Or should I say, Communist Teacher's Association.

  • George Parker needs to shut up. Why should teachers get due process before they're fired? They are not elected officials but hired employees, why should they have any "rights" when they're not good at their jobs? They're like old communist society that needs to be dismantled and NOW!

  • @minkaboo you dont wanna just fire people all whilly-nilly. how would you like it your employers just fired you, and you believed you were doing the best that could be done? thats serious, and the act must be justified. and one person shouldnt have that much power.. individuals are wrong sometimes.

  • @dvnstvn9 That is reality my friend in the real world.

You better produce, or your ass get's fired.

    Plane and simple.

As far as I'm concerned, people that are in charge of putting valuable information in my kids head for 8 hours a day SHOULD be held to an even higher standard. Because once a child falls behind just one year they spend the rest of their time trying to catch up

  • @EchoMike03 But in the real world you have control over your product. You can make more, sell more. Advertise etc. You cannot mind control thousands of students perfectly.

  • Michelle Rhee has a terrible outlook on education. She will no doubt ruin many lives. I predict that scores might get better, but children will not learn to be critical, self-motivated learners. They will forever be driven by exterior motivators, and thus will be blind to the beauty that is a life of inquiry and learning.

  • ... and how are they leading a life of inquiry and learning right now?

Michelle Rhee is dealing with the administrative level of education, but she has the foundation of best practice that comes from educational research.

  • I love Rhee for firing ineffective teachers and fixing the broken school system. After she's done with DC, the entire United States should learn from her methods. I can't imagine how much worse kids can be at status quo. I have sat in too many classes where teachers don't teach, read the same book three times in my HS b/c there were insufficient books, and teachers not teaching. I'm not saying teachers are the sole problem but many need to be fired.

  • @2919larkwood Yes, what Rhee wants is a factory. Not an education system. There is no profit in education. It is not a business, it does not just churn out production. You working with 30 individuals in a classroom with 30 different backgrounds and 30 different capabilities.

  • MIchelle Rhee ROCK... if she can't save DC their future is pretty predictable... Killing capital city of the world....

  • hey goerge park is my old math teacher!! lol
