Polish churches , Universities, cementeries with famous Poles.Hundreds of thousands of Polish citizens and owners of houses killed and kicked out of their homes and their city... Jalta was illegal and LEOPOLIS will be back to Poland!!!!!!!!!!
0:01 The Lviv Theatre of Opera and Ballet build by the Poles, Zygmunt Gorgolewski , Jan Bogucki,
0:15 Dominican church and monastery build by Polish Dominican Order. Later on the church was rebuild by Bernard Wilczek
0:52 Church of St. Olha and Elizabeth the founder was Austrain but it was designed and build by the Poles, Teodor Talowski, Karol Richtman, Bronisław Bauer, Jan Naworyta, Tadeusz Błotnicki, Kazimierz Sichulski
Well then, to speak properly, let's say L'viv/Lwów is not Ukraine, nor Poland either. It is an old city, and as such, it somewhat belongs to times of old. It is Halychyna, or Galicja, however you prefer, an truly distinct entity but ceratinly related to both Ukraine and Poland. Borders no longer matter. There stands Lviv.
Львов-один из самых красивых городов Украины. Нам есть чем гордиться. И не стоит затевать споры о политике, наслаждайтесь красотами Земли Украинской и любите Украину такой, какая она есть: красивую, нежную, глубокую и дружелюбную.
@wmjboura1 Explain me please, Lwow has doesnt stiepan bandera monument? It is very interesting person for me ,No where in Europe i dont saw nazi symbols who are glorifited like St.ban. No where ...only in Lwow.
There may be a monument here for Bandera, but there is no Nazi symbol on it and living here in Lviv ---- not Lwow have I yet to see a Nazi monument anywhere.
If you want to make my video political please go elsewhere. As I said before, this is a video to enjoy the city, NOT POLITICS. Personally I do not care about 50 year old Politics that have nothing to do with me. This is not a Political forum. It is a video of the city I love and enjoy. Nothing more. Thank you
@wmjboura1 i understand you-not politics...but you present Lwow(for me and many Poles always Lwow )like typical ukrainian city -its not truth We remember who lived in Lwow and i saw how many monuments are devastating. Lwow is like polish soul outside own body
You forgot the photos of the drunks on the benches behind the Danielo statue and the gypsies on the steps of church Andrey. Also, where in the world does country music fit in about this area :D ? Beautiful pix though, you did a great job getting around the majority of the city center and even Shevchenkivsky Hai and high tower.
I'm sick of hearing about polish magets claiming Lviv as part of the poland. Lviv was founded in 1256 by Danylo Halytskyi and was named after his son Lev. It was detained by poland 1349-1569(polishLithuanian)-1772. Austrian Empire 1772-1918 - REBUILDED entire city (Alyon99 moron). Second polish republic 1918-1939. WWII 1939-1941 Ukraine SSR. Then German captured the city. 1944 Soviet Red Army. I lived 18 years in Lviv and I can tell you that polish population is less then 0.3%...
Poland owned Lviv only through conquest and oppressive polonization of the city's native inhabitant's language, culture, literature, etc. The fact that this city no longer belongs to poland is cause for celebration. But yes, the Vienna-style architecture is beautiful.
thank you for stating the truth. I personally try not to get involved in all the politics, but it is nice to see someone else do it. Lviv is a great city and that is why I posted the video for all to see. I hope everyone enjoys it.
Pię¼kna opera, uniwersytet i inne budynki starego miasta, są świadectwem wielu wieków świetności tego wspaniałego miasta. Betonowe bloki zaś są wielkim kontrastem i też świadectwem, ale jakże innej epoki...
yea Lviv(Lwów) belongs to Ukraine, but nobody can deny polish heritage in this town. same with Wrocław(Breslau) and german heritage. hope im gonna visit Lwów soon again :)
This area was mentioned for the first time in 981, when Vladimir the Great, Rus Grand Prince, took the area from Lendians over during his western campaign. In 1018 returned Poland, 1031 was annexed to Rus. It came under Polish control in 1340, when Casimir III of Poland recovered it. Since these times the name Ruś Czerwona is recorded, translated as "Red Ruthenia"
Lviv was occupied and exploited mostly by Poles who stole from the Ukrainian people for 600 years. Lviv was built stone by stone by Ukrainian workers and fed by Ukrainian peasants! Lviv is now and forever returned to Ukraine, and Polish chauvinists have been thrown out 70 years ago!
Were the "Polish chauvinists" (70%of the Lwow inhabitants) removed by Stalin? the same Stalin who is responsible for MILLIONS of Ukrainians died? so think twice before you will use his "language". Poland was the first country that recognized independent Ukraine. tens of thousands of Ukrainians are working and studying in Poland. Tell me do you have another neighbour really interested in Ukraine's existence as strong independent country? Use your brain for a while.
Ukrainians and Poles are not arguing about the present. After centuries of stupidity, up until World War II, Poland finally understands that it must have strong and independent neighbors. Independent Ukraine most of all. Ukrainians do not accept the distorted and unrealistic Polish interpretation of history. The 500 years of Polish occupation and colonization of the Ukrainian people is not acceptable. Millions of Poles are working in the West for the same reasons some Ukrainians are in Poland.
Off course I wouldn't like to see Russian custom officers in Medyka/Sehini, but its mostly your problem my friend. What are Ukrainian leaders doing right now, when polish minister is trying to convince in Evian rest of the EU to give you clear membership perspective?
A lot of pain in you and a lot of bitter feelings.
Poland have learned, but what did you have learned?
Ask yourself. Ask yourself if you can call 70%of the pre-war city inhabitants "chauvinistic" ?
Poland became "wise" only very recently. It did not respect Ukrainians and their desire for independence for 500 years. So don't be so proud of your Polish generosity towards Ukraine. Poland needs independent Ukraine for its own survival against Russia. Many more Ukrainians are working and studying in Western Europe, and not in Poland. At least today Ukrainians are not forced to change their birth certificated to show they are Roman-Catholic and forbidden to speak Ukrainian. That's progress.
I have impression that you guys are learning from the same kind of books that was in use in Poland in the 1945-1990. the same lies about poor colonized nation(Poles) brave peasants(Poles) , bad colonization's-gentry(Germans) - only to justify kicking Germans out of Slask/Slezien (Poland lost it in XiX). the same lies about 600years colonization of Wroclaw/Breslau.
now please change the words and put "Lwow" for "Wroclaw" Dont forget about the bad colonizators - Poles, and always innocent Ukes
If we have learned, my arrogant friend it mens you have learned nothing. My great-great mother was Ukrainian descent as was murdered in the Forrest together with other villagers just for having polish husband. Their homes were burned to the ground would have thousand reasons to hate you. Now check what mens "Hadziacz" and check if after 300 there is anybody in Ukraine who is reasonable enough for Europe to talk to him. Or just like 300 years ago you will screw your chance.
