It says on the specs for this card that, quote, "Minimum PSU Wattage Requirement: 500 Watt". Does this mean that this card alone requires this much power, or that the entire computer is going to require 500 watts of power?

@Ashadow700 They are referring to the total amount of power your computer will consume, this is measured when all components are running at max load. I myself have a GTX 460, i only have a 430 watt power supply, and i can run my 95 watt CPU and this card on max load, no problem. i can even overclock the graphics card, as high as my drivers will let me, without any problem from the power supply, so you wont need much power, SLI is different, i would recommend at least 750 watts if your gona SLI.

@Ashadow700 Entire PC. It doesn't hurt to go 50 watts higher but that minimum is pretty safe.

@Ashadow700 No, this will not draw 500 watts, they say that to make sure it can power the card along with everything else in your system.

Often 500 watts is actually to high, because they just want to be on the safe side, but 90% of the time you should have the recommended watts.

@Pansieman Hey man, I've actually decided just to go for a stock EVGA GTX 470. In terms of componentry rather than temps, OC and noise, since it's more suitable for the tasks I'll need it for besides games and it doesn't cost much more. Also with the flexibility of the warranty terms. You'll just have too look at what you desire more in a card. If you want quiet and cool MSI. If you want higher clocks on mem and shaders out of the box and better warranty EVGA. It's a compromise.

Not having a go at you mate, but you should have read up on the card a bit before doing this review, makes me not want this card... Those 'things' next to the power connections are for the multimeter probes to monitor voltages of the GPU, PLL and memory. For a professional reviewer you really should have known that. But we are all human and we can learn from our mistakes, I'd love to see a SLI's 460 hawk OC'd review though, should be interesting. :)

Those "extra fan wires" are not really fan wires. They are meant to be voltage checkpoints. They hook up your card directly to a multimeter, to directly monitor the voltage, which eliminates any software uncertainties.

You didn't even mention that there has been buzz going around regarding the supposed 1ghz overclock that the hawk is meant to achieve.

BTW, the 3 plugs next to the PCI connectors are NOT for fans! These are connectors that can be "plugged" into a multimeter in order to measure the tension/current.
