you have graven images of angels and saints, and you bow to them and give them power!
First of all at at 0:57 you claim that rotten decomposed mummy is uncorrupted? And second of all~ "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them..." What is wrong with you people? This is morbid, disgusting and it makes God mad! Christians are messed up in the head.
@wayner83 1. An unpreserved corpse retaining its skin after decades sounds pretty incorrupt to me. 2. You are taking that verse wildly out of its context. Relics such as this are Biblical. The bones of prophets were raising the dead in Kingdoms. It doesn't make God mad.
@wayner83 it is also noted that the bodies of saints were seen walking in Israel, the bodies of these saints should have already been dust hundreds of years ago, and these bodies are not "graven images" they are naturally made by his own hand and because of his work in them...they refuse to be currupted and breakdown as we know them to otherwise, they are not intended to give God an image nor are they worshiped. That is not correct understanding on your part my friend.
@jleveq Also, to take not image was of old testament in which God's face could not be seen by mankind. In the coming of Christ (New Testament) he was incarnate of man and taking on flesh like ours, he then was able to allow us to see a face of God or at least Jesus. The Icons and all pictures are the Face/image he has he allowed us to see when he was here on earth as a man, and that is the face we remember him as having.
Scripture says we were "all baptized into one body" (1 Corinthians 12:13). Christians are one body which is not divided by death or anything else (Rom 8:38-39). Christians in heaven are still members of that body of Christ? We are invited to honor the "heroes" of the faith (Heb 6:12, 11:1-40, Jas 5:10-11).
Catholics believe people in heaven are alive. (Mat 19:29, 25:46, Mat 10:17-22, Mk 10:30, Lk 10:25-30, Lk 18:18-30, Jn 3:15-16). We see Lazarus alive by Abraham's side (Lk 16:22). And at the transfiguration we see Moses and Elijah alive beside Jesus. (Mat 17:3)
"Graves of the dead were opened and they went into town to preach the Gospel." (Mat 27:52). Jesus said "Now he is a God not of the dead, but of the living; for to him all of them are alive." (Lk 20:39-40)
@jimmymastiff What seems to be the matter? I myself always watch this video when I feel in need of comfort. It is a wonderful reminder of the communion of the saints who watch over us invisibly. I love going to church and venerating the holy relics.
@jimmymastiff I think you took the wrong turn. type macdonald or disneyworld in the search box and you'll be right back on track. or just go and play with the doggies. woof!
Christ must have special favor for BOTH the Catholic and Orthodox (including Coptic and Armenian) Churches because they share in the EXACT SAME UNIQUE MIRACLES!
@MarkCox73 its because of the apostolic tradition but i think catholics should come back to orthodoxy and copts and armenians are orthodox....come back brothers dont be in heressy
Interesting discussion, hopefully @anaisamaris will come to realize as a result the wrongness of Protestantism and be drawn to the Church. I myself didn't use to understand relics, and now I am amazed by how God is glorified in His Saints. Holy, glorious apostles, prophets and martyrs and all the saints, pray for us sinners.
The "Church" is the body of Christ, and I am a member of it, no denomination is the body, but the believers in His name. The martyrs(chinese, arabs, indians..etc) that neither belong to a catholic or protestant creed deserve more respect than this. Prove to me, by the word of God, that the apostles, prophets etc, are praying and interceding for us sinners, and not the living and only intercesor, JesusChrist, Yeshua...
@anaisamaris do you pray for your friends and family? if so, you are like the saints in heaven; only doing it on earth. The "praying & interceding" of the saints in heaven in no way replaces the One Mediator-ship of Jesus with His Father, but only, whether it is they in heaven or we on earth, fulfills the admonition to pray for one another always.
@burkardhanis Agreed, God is the God of the living not the dead, becuase we dont see them, this does not mean they no longer pray for us, in fact, whom better to pray for us than those who are now outside of worldly limited understanding. they will know better how and what to pray for in our regard.
@anaisamaris It would seem to me you have (within one paragraph) many misinterpreted views to which you base even the beginning of your question's foundation. The early church that you read about in the bible has never seen it the way you are explaining the basis for your argument. I would honestly recommend that you Go to an Orthodox Church and take up an "Inquirer's class". Free and worst case scenario confirm your beliefs as you see them now. Just a thought my friend, may heaven be yours.
Please my friend, and anyone here, post Bible verses proving to me that the dead is alive praying for us, instead of sleeping 1 Thes.4:13-18, or in Paradise, or in Sheol, ( this one is a whole diffferent story), anyways, can someone post some verses of the Bible that back up the saints praying for us claim??? I only found Jesus to be the intercesor, mediator, defender, etc......and I can post plenty of verses about Him....Thanks for any Bible sound teaching on this matter.
@anaisamaris Mark 12:27. "He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You therefore do greatly err. " The saints are NOT dead. As for the saints praying for us, come on. Use common sense, why wouldn't they be praying for us? And if you believe Jesus is the only intercessor, you better not ever ask your friends and family to pray for you. What we do is the same thing as that...
How amazing that you would use this verse, that is intended for the living, and twisted somehow and apply it to the dead (the ones that are sleeping or in heaven). Have eyes, but cant see, ears and cant hear....Common sense tell me to follow the word and not the traditions of men. And when my family and friends pray and make theyre requests known to God, they go to Jesus, the living God, our only Savior. Let the "saints" rest in peace.
@anaisamaris Christian saints ARE living. It is utterly unorthodox to claim that there is such a thing as a "dead Christian", since Christ promised us eternal life. Therefore, I have not twisted it at all. In saying that the Saints are dead and are not praying for us, you deny the words of Christ and St. John in his Apocalypse which shows the Saints interceding and praying before the throne of God. If you want to know how the Saints can see and hear us, St. Silouan the Athonite explains...
Once again, you can say whatever, give me the verses of the Bible where Jesus says that they are somewhere in the afterlife praying for us..so simple..Bible verses, thats all Ive been asking for, for the past What? year...still dont get it...so unless you have the words of Jesus to back u up, dont waste your time with me....I believe the saints that are dead, are resting, or enyoing what they deserve from God...cause that is what the Bible says
@anaisamaris Fine. The saints are praying for us is Revelation 8:3-4. That the saints aren't dead is John 11:26. The saints are alive, and eternally praying with their prayers rising as incense before God, this is why relics are so wonderful! They are a sign of Christian immortality! :)
Now you are insulting my intelligence and that of all student of the Bible, John 11:26 is the promise of eternal life for all of us. Beautiful and wonderful promise! Lazarus needed resurection, cause he was dead...and Jesus resurected him. Nothing on praying saints here. Mary was the one begging Jesus.
Revelation 8:3-4 talks about the angel in front of God taking the prayers of the "hagiOn" (holy ones, saints) UP to him. Prayers of the peoples down here on earth at the time of tribulation ascending to God. Simple theology. Please, read any Bible commentary, any, dont even take my word for it.
Now once again Im still waiting for real Bible verses proving that certain "saints" are interceding for us after dying or going to the afterlife. Now, a saint to catholics means a canonized person, a saint in the Bible is a holy person, one sactified and set apart by God (that includes any person saved by God). So when the Bible refers to the saints, its not referring to your canonized "saints" anyways.
Verses to consider about relics: 2 Kings 13:21, Acts 19:11-12, Exodus 13:19, and Matthew 9:20-22
Saints interceding for us is clear before the Throne of God in Revelation 8. They do care about our salvation, and they are alive as many others have mentioned for He is the God of the living, not the dead.
Elisha died, and was buried(13:20) He was not praying, a miracle was done by God here.Acts 19:11 is used by those moneyhungry televangelists, but neither them or dead people have the glory of God on them like Paul, who wrote half our New Testament. Moses took Joseph,s bones to be buried as he wished, no praying here. and please, honor Jesus, who was God in the flesh, not a canonized saint (Matthew 9:20).
@anaisamaris All miracles are done by God. Did you not understand that is the entire POINT of incorrupt relics? And everyone here honors Jesus. That doesn't preclude also showing reverence to other Christians to honor the spirit of God which works through them.
Once again, I have YOUR opinion, when in fact Im still looking forward to those Bible verses, but its ok, I truly give up on actually even thinking someone has any Bible verses to rub on my face..well my friend, honor those who deserve honor but adore, praise and revere only the living God!
! Timothy 2:1:8 its one biblical passage about who are called to pray for others. 1Peter 1:15 its one biblical passage about who are called to be holy. Hebrews 12:14 call us to persue peace with all men and holyness towards God. So my friend, peace be with you, hope you find in the Bible all the sound teaching you'll ever need...
@anaisamaris Help me understand you. pls. So you believe that once a man "dies". He simply goes into a sleep of some kind...perhaps until Christ would wake him for a judgment day? If that were the case then Why would the Disciples claim to see Jesus speaking with Moses and Elijah on the mountain? Do i understand your point? If you dont mind, I see you have a Solas scriptura approach, do you believe that whatever interpretation you get of scriptures is the truth?
Where in the Bible,which is God's word, says that by venerating saints, we give glory to Him??Actually the Bible says the opposite. And how you know that it represents the hand of Gd? Any verses here also...?
@anaisamaris because you are Protestant, you don't have the Book of Maccabees in your OT [which is in the Greek version, the Septuagint, that the Early Christians used since they all spoke/read Greek], nor are you paying attention to the Acts of the Apostles...in both places it refers to holy objects that were according veneration. Remember, veneration is not worship! Veneration is acknowledging God's work in a person or place. The Divine Liturgy is worship.
Sorry, but the Bible I use not only has the Macabees, but it also has Tobias and the rest of the apocrypha,(The Jerusalem Bible) and I also have the catholic, orthodox, you name it, I have it...You still dont point at any verse in the Bible like I asked you, for the support of your claim. Dont take my wrong, my mother in law is a devout catholic, and I love her to death, but she still cant give me sound verses as to this practice.
@anaisamaris the Devil can quote Scripture for his purpose. And as you are Protestant, you and I will differ on any given quote I give you. Take for instance on a totally different topic: the Gospel of John, 6th Chapter---Catholics and Orthodox take it literally, Protestants don't. So it does not good to quote the chapter and verse St Jerome gave us. But, relying on the successors of the Apostles, the Bishops, to guide us, we can know how to interpret them. We do that, you don't. Shalom.
The evil ones can quote scripture and some people of God cant. But this is a lame excuse anyways. Your Bible is your Sword, use it. Let God deal with the rest! Also rely in the Holy Spirit, He is your teacher. As for John 6, unless Jesus(Yeshua), was pointing at a piece of bread when saying these words, Nah! He said "I am the bread of life".. He wanted us 2 partake on the bread and wine in his remembrance (last supper)...Peace
@anaisamaris my dear, you are reading into John 6, not reading it. The hearers of Jesus understood Him literally and walked away as the saying "was too hard to bear." His TRUE followers stayed. This is why sola scriptura is not enough. One must have the Apostolic College of Bishops who guarantee the correct understanding of it, or you end up where the Protestants are: more sects of them than there are branches on a tree, each saying the other is wrong. Peace.
THe Scripture and the Holy Spirit is ALL you need. Praise God for preachers and bishops and teachers that help us in our walk and growth and maturity in our spiritual journey towards the Kingdom of El Elyon, Almighty God and Yeshua (Jesus)!!AMEN
@anaisamaris so you know nothing of the Ecumenical Councils, the Creeds and the Liturgy? How sad. They all were there BEFORE we had the list "canonized" of the New Testament Books. the same Bishops who celebrated the Liturgy of St James and the Latin Liturgies were led by the Holy Spirit to understand which writings were indeed to be part of the New Testament. Find and read the Liturgy of St James and you will have new thoughts. Peace.
Are we going Nicea here..honey dont even go to councils and how the books were chosen. It's ok. Im still waiting for biblical support, to your veneration. Venerate me too, Im a saint...you are too...if you are set apart for Christ.
@anaisamaris Well peace be yours. St Augustine said "ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ," but he also was part of the Councils etc. I see you breathing with one lung, Scripture, which allows you to obtain Life, but not the kind of Life you'd have if you breathed with both lungs, Scripture and the Teachings of the Councils etc. We can finish this conversation in Heaven and be in full knowledge and charity at that time. Shalom.
Hello, my brother! I still dont get the one thing I wanted, verses to support not only that the veneration of saints is biblical, but also that the word of God means breathing on one lung. Christ is Life. Period. But yes, we can probably let God (not on Heaven, but in His Kingdom on earth ,shocker ah!) give us full knowledge in the afterlife. Keep seeking the Lord and His Kingdom...Peace.
@anaisamaris For example, the Israelites took Joseph’s bones when they departed Egypt (Ex. 13:19). The bones of Elisha came in contact with a dead person who then was raised to life (2 Kings 13:21). The same Elisha took the mantle of Elijah and fashioned a miracle with it (2 Kings 2:13). The Christians of Ephesus, by using handkerchiefs and cloths touched to St. Paul’s skin, effected the healing of the sick (Acts 19:12).
"Holy Tradition"- "You put aside the commadndemt of God to cling to human traditions"..."In this way you make God's woek null and woid for the sake of your tradition which you have handed down.." Mark 7:8 and13, Jerusalem Bible (catholic).
THis is what Jesus(Yeshua) had to say to zelous traditioners (big shots of religion).
@anaisamaris the tradition Jesus speaks of, and what we mean by Holy Tradition are TWO VERY DIFFERENT THINGS. Jesus speaks of externals and aborgating the Spirit of the Old Testament Commandments to get around them. Holy Tradition is the expression of the Church as she came to understand the Scriptures and oral teachings of the Apostles and Worshiped the Father in Spirit & Truth. The are apples and oranges.
@anaisamaris Scripture is only half of Salvation History, one Lung is you will; the other half is made of "Holy Tradition" which a term that covers the teachings of the Ecumenical Councils, Creeds and Liturgy. To breathe with both Lungs is better, tho one can survive, and obtain Eternal Life with One only.
Joseph was buried, Elisha, Elijah and Paul, mighthy men and prophets of God performing miracles, dont even compare...then the thiefs on christian tv can keep selling their "miracle" oils, papers, crosses,...by your same standards. Benny Hinn must be your most admire "healer". You just made the case for them.
@anaisamaris Orthodox and Catholics have nothing to do with the TV hustlers. They are from the Protestant groups....those who reject the teachings of Christ as found in the Orthodox and Catholic Churches. You might say you are not a Protestant, but a "Christian," but if you are not Orthodox or Catholic you are by definition a Protestant as all three groups are Christians adhering to one degree or another to the fullness of Faith.
@anaisamaris as wonderful as this conversation is, you know neither of us going to "convert" the other, but we should be striving to bring the fullness of the Gospel to those who do not know Jesus, especially the Muslims since they in this day and age seem to be in most need of it. Holy God, Holy and Mighty One, Holy and Immortal One, have mercy on us and the whole world.
Well, tradition is certaintly tradition(jewish, catholic..etc). And we the LIVING can pray and are mandated to pray for one another, but the dead is dead (no longer have business here on earth), I am a believer of Christ (Yeshua), you call it whatever, dont care for titles. The matter of fact is that nobody here is going to convert you or me, but we can learn and grow a lot, and respectfully agree and disagree, it has been a pleasure..may the Lord be glorified!
@anaisamaris btw, in the notion that we are not likely to change one another minds, lets leave off on the interpretation of the Scripture passages I gave. You will have yours, and Catholics and Orthodox will have theirs. When we are in front of the Awesome Judgment Seat of Christ we will know in peace and charity who had the correct one. Until then, Shalom.
@anaisamaris I agree. Protestants think that King James was inspired by God to decide which books belong in the Bible, and which books to leave out. Problem is that King James was a notorious homosexual, so I doubt he was inspired to do anything but start more protestant ism/scism nonsence!!!
My preferred Bible after the Complete Jewish Bible, is the Jerusalem Bible, which IS catholic...I have a Reina-Valera, which Ive been carrying for 20years, and I love it because i bought it when I was only 16yrs old..
Adoration-latria, is not as veneration-dulia only in papers. I know how the veneration of saints in catholism goes beyond honoring...it is idolatry, with images and all... the respect and honoring for extraordinary humans (religious or not) is very fair and deserving, but you guys go to the extreme as in idolatry, I know this for a fact, to the point of making them intecesors between you and God, there is only One Intecesor, Jesus....
@anaisamaris glad you know the Latin terms, but since only God is the Just Judge, your other comments come off as sanctimonious rubbish by a holy than thou fool. May God enlighten you heart to the fullness of the True Faith as found in Catholicism or Orthodoxy.
Well, I guess this conversation is going to end with your opinion, cause you never gave me the Bible verses for your so profound and blind"true faith". YOU owe it to yourself to get biblical foundations for your belief- I have been very blessed and "enlighten" by studying the Word of God....
@anaisamaris Nobody in the Catholic, or Orthodox Faith worships anybody but the Lord himself. The Lord is surrounded by a "cloud of Witnesses" which are His Saints. We been veneratingSaints right back to the Appostles, Protestants always try to falsely state that we worship them, but they don't have a leg to stand on, because although thier faith might come from the Bible, the Bible comes from the founders of Orthodoxy.
@anaisamaris I don't need a point. If we want to venerate our Saints as we were taught by the appostles thats our business, if you protestants got a problem with that, don't watch our videos, just to leave your insulting comment, get a life!!!
Well, if u are going to debate something, you need a point. Of course you can venerate even the devil if your heart desires! Ive been asking for verses to support this belief and since this is youtube I can ask and watch anything I want to. So far I have been more than respectful. But now you went to the childish, ignorant and uneducated reply. So long, learn how to critize constructivily and how to treat a lady!!!!!
@kayaburning We have see the True Light, we have received the Heavenly Spirit, and we worship the Undivided Trinity, for the Trinity has saved us! May the Catholic and Orthodox Churches be reunited in fullness of faith, hope and charity this side of the Second and Glorious Coming of Our Great God and Saviour Jesus Christ!
@anaisamaris First of all, its a protestant myth that everything is in the bible. 2+2=4, thats not in the bible,yet its true. Orthodoxy comes from the appostles, and was around long before members of the Orthodox church wrote the Bible being inspired by God. The bible says our Lord is surounded by a cloud of witnesses who are his Saints, who happen to be our fellow Christians whom we honour, but don't worship.
@anaisamaris Where in the bible does it say that "speaking in tounges" means to blurt out a bunch of jibberish like protestants are notorious for-lol.. Real(Orthodox) speaking in tounges is a Spiritual Gift where one can speak in a language they normally can't speak.It doesn't have to say in the Bible to honour(venerate) saints, we do that out of respect like we were taught so by the appostles.
I have a problem with many "speakers of tongues", and "healers" and "miracle workers",...What ever comes from the Spirit of God, or not, will be judge by God, not me. We should "RESPECT" (in the sense of the word), every single human alive and also love him selflessly (is in the Bible).
@2Nikolaos3 no, but all Roman Catholics, while not united yet in canonical bounds with Orthodox, are orthodox in faith. the excommunications the caused the great schism were lifted by both Churches in the 1960's. We just have work toward canonical unity...but in Faith, Hope and Love we already are. Each recognized the validity of the others Holy Mysteries.
@burkardhanis we aren't one in faith unfortunately, R.C church developed new doctrines which are unacceptable for us. the schism hadn't only political reason, maybe disagreement of Filioque was minor, but the pope's primacy was very exaggerated, but also Filioque and changed creed was unacceptable for East. also pope didn't want to recognize the canonical patriarch of constantinople. so schism was roman fault, and now the biggest difference - pope's doctrinal infabillity.
@2Nikolaos3 those Eastern Christian that are in union with Rome don't use the Filioque, and both JP II and Benedict XVI have recited the Symbol of Faith with the Patriarch sans Filioque.
@2Nikolaos3 The Dogmas we have "added", are only different in that we have defined them, but I've been to enough Divine Liturgies and have an Eastern Prayer Book to know the Orthodox believe, even if it is not a matter of Dogma, that Mary was conceived and remained sinless throughout her life and was been assumed body and soul into heaven once her earthly journey was complete.
@2Nikolaos3 And yes, the RC is more guilty, but that is why the Orthodox can show now more charity and grant the forgiveness for the RC sins that JPII begged during the Great Jubilee of 2000. It is my impression, though I cannot prove it, that the Patriarch of Moscow and some of the Heirarchs of Greece are really the stumbling block as they prefer to dwell on past sins of the RC rather than strive to fulfill Christ's prayer that all might be one.
@2Nikolaos3 as to Papal infallibility and the Pope's position as first among peers, the theologians from both Churches are working to see how that fits into the canonical unity that we all pray for. And the RC at this time have no problem with recognizing the Patriarch of Constantinople. So lets leave the past there, and work in prayer on those points that keep us separated contrary to Christ's prayer. It is nice to know you are open to dialogue, as am I. :)
@2Nikolaos3 we won't join you, nor will you join us, we will become one in the Unity Christ prayed for...I refuse to see it as one giving into the other, rather than both coming to a unity lead by the Holy Spirit in faith, hope and charity.
@2Nikolaos3 "Orthodox", "Orthodox" You may want to look up the definition of "Orthodox".
(1054 great schism) there's a reason why the Roman Catholic church went a different dirrection and we remain "Orthodox". even if you dont agree, you should learn why.
@jleveq And don't forget about the Eastern Catholics that are NOT Roman Catholics. Byzantine Catholics kept all of the Orthodox practices, the Roman rite has lost everything and has changed its teachings, along with the Maronites.
I am Catholic, my closest friend is Orthodox, we pray the same prayers, to the same Saviour Jesus Christ, with the same Love, there is no difference, Point!
@6MemoryOfForever9 I respectfully disagree. Some prayers may be the same and regrettably some orthodox hierarchs treat the pope of Rome as a valid bishop, but the Eastern Orthodox Church is the only Body of Christ.
Some of the comments on videos like this one are unfortunate. More people should remember what their mother told them: if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
@davidpwithun I agree. It seems to be only non-believers and protestants that write such things. May God through the intercession of His saints enlighten them.
rohirrim11rider I am Ortodox and we are not sisters....you once have been Ortodox just like us....this is the right Faith....you have many mistakes....only in our church ...ortodox....the Holy Light is coming.....
I respect your opinion. But there is one thing that will always unite Orthodox and Catholics. We both believe in Christ's true physical presence in the Eucharist. While other christian churches believe the bread and wine are just symbols, we Catholics and Orthodox both believe in the truth of Christ's Body and Blood.
Interesting how you reached out with respect and love, only to be slapped down. A shame. All we can do is pray for peace and unity, and ask forgiveness for the times we have offended our Orthodox brethren.
I'm an Orthodoc Christian, and I have the utermost respect for my Catholic brothers and sisters in Christ. Our churches are very simular. God bless all Christians!!!
Kayaburning, thank you for your kind words. Cataspecial sounds angry, and maybe with good cause. I repeat the need for Roman Catholics to apologize to our Orthodox brethren for the times we have offended them. We all, Orthodox and Roman Catholics, need to do penance for the times we have fallen short of the holy lives to which we have been called by Christ Jesus. God bless you and all Christians everywhere.
czekehazi, God bless you as well and as far as history is concerned, the past is the past, those people a long time ago are a different generation from us, times are changing where being Christian, regardless of denomination, is becoming thought of as politically incorrect, and intolerable in this godless generation and we all need to put our pasts aside and become united in christ. We all need to learn to get along regardless of who did what in the past. God bless!!!
...but... Catholics dont have vine in Eucharist becouse demon Papa say: "Only i give the blode" and much more other. So, u must back in Orthodox if u want real life.Yea, u can chek Holy wather, Catholics have only corupt wather.God bless u †
Dude. Look at this stuff. These miracles are just like those of the Catholic church. We're sister churches with the same beliefs. We're both the ones with miracles and saints. We catholics may have a pope and that divides us but when you look at the bigger picture we're the same church under God. I'm Catholic but I love my sister Orthodox church and I wish to learn about more of her saints. :)
Well the miracle basically is miraculous mumification. Totally unexplainable or in the case of non believers, scientifically very unlikely because no preservatives are used at all. It's weird, the decay just doesn't happen as it would on a normal corpse. In the catholic church, we have many saints dubbed as "incorruptible".
This comment has received too many negative votesshow

Sure,what you said its right but i used a thick writing so it was very hard to read his name as Ilie,so i figuerd that it is easier for people to understand reading his last name,but yes you are right,God bless!
just a little note - Lacatusu is the last name/family name for father Ilie, the proper way to call him is Saint Ilie (the Conffesor - maybe). In Romania is a common occurance to call priests by the last name, for example - father Staniloae, but remember when we pray for or to them ( in case of saints) we use the baptismal names.

When a saint enters into the joy of their Master, they are "put in charge of many things" (Mat 25:21)

Interesting discussion, hopefully @anaisamaris will come to realize as a result the wrongness of Protestantism and be drawn to the Church. I myself didn't use to understand relics, and now I am amazed by how God is glorified in His Saints. Holy, glorious apostles, prophets and martyrs and all the saints, pray for us sinners.
aarilaxox 1 year ago
@aarilaxox
The "Church" is the body of Christ, and I am a member of it, no denomination is the body, but the believers in His name. The martyrs(chinese, arabs, indians..etc) that neither belong to a catholic or protestant creed deserve more respect than this. Prove to me, by the word of God, that the apostles, prophets etc, are praying and interceding for us sinners, and not the living and only intercesor, JesusChrist, Yeshua...
anaisamaris 1 year ago
@anaisamaris do you pray for your friends and family? if so, you are like the saints in heaven; only doing it on earth. The "praying & interceding" of the saints in heaven in no way replaces the One Mediator-ship of Jesus with His Father, but only, whether it is they in heaven or we on earth, fulfills the admonition to pray for one another always.
burkardhanis 1 year ago 2
@burkardhanis Agreed, God is the God of the living not the dead, becuase we dont see them, this does not mean they no longer pray for us, in fact, whom better to pray for us than those who are now outside of worldly limited understanding. they will know better how and what to pray for in our regard.
jleveq 5 months ago

I only found Jesus to be the intercesor, mediator, defender, etc......and I can post plenty of verses about Him....Thanks for any Bible sound teaching on this matter.
anaisamaris 4 months ago
@anaisamaris Mark 12:27. "He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You therefore do greatly err. " The saints are NOT dead. As for the saints praying for us, come on. Use common sense, why wouldn't they be praying for us? And if you believe Jesus is the only intercessor, you better not ever ask your friends and family to pray for you. What we do is the same thing as that...
aarilaxox 4 months ago
@aarilaxox

Silouan the Athonite explains...
aarilaxox 3 months ago
@aarilaxox
Once again, you can say whatever, give me the verses of the Bible where Jesus says that they are somewhere in the afterlife praying for us..so simple..Bible verses, thats all Ive been asking for, for the past What? year...still dont get it...so unless you have the words of Jesus to back u up, dont waste your time with me....I believe the saints that are dead, are resting, or enyoing what they deserve from God...cause that is what the Bible says
anaisamaris 3 months ago
@anaisamaris Fine. The saints are praying for us is Revelation 8:3-4. That the saints aren't dead is John 11:26. The saints are alive, and eternally praying with their prayers rising as incense before God, this is why relics are so wonderful! They are a sign of Christian immortality! :)
aarilaxox 3 months ago
@aarilaxox
Now you are insulting my intelligence and that of all student of the Bible, John 11:26 is the promise of eternal life for all of us. Beautiful and wonderful promise! Lazarus needed resurection, cause he was dead...and Jesus resurected him. Nothing on praying saints here. Mary was the one begging Jesus.
anaisamaris 3 months ago
@aarilaxox
Revelation 8:3-4 talks about the angel in front of God taking the prayers of the "hagiOn" (holy ones, saints) UP to him. Prayers of the peoples down here on earth at the time of tribulation ascending to God. Simple theology. Please, read any Bible commentary, any, dont even take my word for it.
anaisamaris 3 months ago
@aarilaxox
Now once again Im still waiting for real Bible verses proving that certain "saints" are interceding for us after dying or going to the afterlife. Now, a saint to catholics means a canonized person, a saint in the Bible is a holy person, one sactified and set apart by God (that includes any person saved by God). So when the Bible refers to the saints, its not referring to your canonized "saints" anyways.
anaisamaris 3 months ago
@anaisamaris

Moses took Joseph,s bones to be buried as he wished, no praying here. and please, honor Jesus, who was God in the flesh, not a canonized saint (Matthew 9:20).
anaisamaris 2 months ago
@anaisamaris All miracles are done by God. Did you not understand that is the entire POINT of incorrupt relics? And everyone here honors Jesus. That doesn't preclude also showing reverence to other Christians to honor the spirit of God which works through them.

Where in the Bible,which is God's word, says that by venerating saints, we give glory to Him??Actually the Bible says the opposite. And how you know that it represents the hand of Gd? Any verses here also...?
anaisamaris 1 year ago
@anaisamaris because you are Protestant, you don't have the Book of Maccabees in your OT [which is in the Greek version, the Septuagint, that the Early Christians used since they all spoke/read Greek], nor are you paying attention to the Acts of the Apostles...in both places it refers to holy objects that were according veneration. Remember, veneration is not worship! Veneration is acknowledging God's work in a person or place. The Divine Liturgy is worship.
burkardhanis 1 year ago
@burkardhanis
Dont take my wrong, my mother in law is a devout catholic, and I love her to death, but she still cant give me sound verses as to this practice.
anaisamaris 1 year ago
@anaisamaris the Devil can quote Scripture for his purpose. And as you are Protestant, you and I will differ on any given quote I give you. Take for instance on a totally different topic: the Gospel of John, 6th Chapter---Catholics and Orthodox take it literally, Protestants don't. So it does not good to quote the chapter and verse St Jerome gave us. But, relying on the successors of the Apostles, the Bishops, to guide us, we can know how to interpret them. We do that, you don't. Shalom.
burkardhanis 1 year ago
@burkardhanis
He wanted us 2 partake on the bread and wine in his remembrance (last supper)...Peace
anaisamaris 1 year ago
@anaisamaris my dear, you are reading into John 6, not reading it. The hearers of Jesus understood Him literally and walked away as the saying "was too hard to bear." His TRUE followers stayed. This is why sola scriptura is not enough. One must have the Apostolic College of Bishops who guarantee the correct understanding of it, or you end up where the Protestants are: more sects of them than there are branches on a tree, each saying the other is wrong. Peace.

THe Scripture and the Holy Spirit is ALL you need. Praise God for preachers and bishops and teachers that help us in our walk and growth and maturity in our spiritual journey towards the Kingdom of El Elyon, Almighty God and Yeshua (Jesus)!!AMEN
anaisamaris 1 year ago
@anaisamaris so you know nothing of the Ecumenical Councils, the Creeds and the Liturgy? How sad. They all were there BEFORE we had the list "canonized" of the New Testament Books. the same Bishops who celebrated the Liturgy of St James and the Latin Liturgies were led by the Holy Spirit to understand which writings were indeed to be part of the New Testament. Find and read the Liturgy of St James and you will have new thoughts. Peace.

anaisamaris 1 year ago
@anaisamaris Well peace be yours. St Augustine said "ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ," but he also was part of the Councils etc. I see you breathing with one lung, Scripture, which allows you to obtain Life, but not the kind of Life you'd have if you breathed with both lungs, Scripture and the Teachings of the Councils etc. We can finish this conversation in Heaven and be in full knowledge and charity at that time. Shalom.
burkardhanis 1 year ago
@burkardhanis
Keep seeking the Lord and His Kingdom...Peace.
anaisamaris 1 year ago

THis is what Jesus(Yeshua) had to say to zelous traditioners (big shots of religion).
anaisamaris 1 year ago
@anaisamaris
"you make God's word null and void, for the sake of your tradition"..
anaisamaris 1 year ago
@anaisamaris the tradition Jesus speaks of, and what we mean by Holy Tradition are TWO VERY DIFFERENT THINGS. Jesus speaks of externals and aborgating the Spirit of the Old Testament Commandments to get around them. Holy Tradition is the expression of the Church as she came to understand the Scriptures and oral teachings of the Apostles and Worshiped the Father in Spirit & Truth. The are apples and oranges.
burkardhanis 1 year ago

You just made the case for them.
anaisamaris 1 year ago
@anaisamaris Orthodox and Catholics have nothing to do with the TV hustlers. They are from the Protestant groups....those who reject the teachings of Christ as found in the Orthodox and Catholic Churches. You might say you are not a Protestant, but a "Christian," but if you are not Orthodox or Catholic you are by definition a Protestant as all three groups are Christians adhering to one degree or another to the fullness of Faith.
burkardhanis 1 year ago
@anaisamaris as wonderful as this conversation is, you know neither of us going to "convert" the other, but we should be striving to bring the fullness of the Gospel to those who do not know Jesus, especially the Muslims since they in this day and age seem to be in most need of it. Holy God, Holy and Mighty One, Holy and Immortal One, have mercy on us and the whole world.
burkardhanis 1 year ago 2
@burkardhanis
Well, tradition is certaintly tradition(jewish, catholic..etc). And we the LIVING can pray and are mandated to pray for one another, but the dead is dead (no longer have business here on earth), I am a believer of Christ (Yeshua), you call it whatever, dont care for titles. The matter of fact is that nobody here is going to convert you or me, but we can learn and grow a lot, and respectfully agree and disagree, it has been a pleasure..may the Lord be glorified!
anaisamaris 1 year ago
@anaisamaris btw, in the notion that we are not likely to change one another minds, lets leave off on the interpretation of the Scripture passages I gave. Until then, Shalom.

@anaisamaris I agree. Protestants think that King James was inspired by God to decide which books belong in the Bible, and which books to leave out. Problem is that King James was a notorious homosexual, so I doubt he was inspired to do anything but start more protestant ism/scism nonsence!!!

burkardhanis 1 year ago
@anaisamaris First of all, its a protestant myth that everything is in the bible. 2+2=4, thats not in the bible,yet its true. Orthodoxy comes from the appostles, and was around long before members of the Orthodox church wrote the Bible being inspired by God. The bible says our Lord is surounded by a cloud of witnesses who are his Saints, who happen to be our fellow Christians whom we honour, but don't worship.
kayaburning 1 year ago
@anaisamaris Where in the bible does it say that "speaking in tounges" means to blurt out a bunch of jibberish like protestants are notorious for-lol.. Real(Orthodox) speaking in tounges is a Spiritual Gift where one can speak in a language they normally can't speak.It doesn't have to say in the Bible to honour(venerate) saints, we do that out of respect like we were taught so by the appostles.

2Nikolaos3 1 year ago 7
@2Nikolaos3 no, but all Roman Catholics, while not united yet in canonical bounds with Orthodox, are orthodox in faith. the excommunications the caused the great schism were lifted by both Churches in the 1960's. We just have work toward canonical unity...but in Faith, Hope and Love we already are. Each recognized the validity of the others Holy Mysteries.
burkardhanis 1 year ago
@burkardhanis we aren't one in faith unfortunately, R.C church developed new doctrines which are unacceptable for us. the schism hadn't only political reason, maybe disagreement of Filioque was minor, but the pope's primacy was very exaggerated, but also Filioque and changed creed was unacceptable for East. also pope didn't want to recognize the canonical patriarch of constantinople. so schism was roman fault, and now the biggest difference - pope's doctrinal infabillity.
2Nikolaos3 1 year ago
@2Nikolaos3 those Eastern Christian that are in union with Rome don't use the Filioque, and both JP II and Benedict XVI have recited the Symbol of Faith with the Patriarch sans Filioque.
burkardhanis 1 year ago
@2Nikolaos3 The Dogmas we have "added", are only different in that we have defined them, but I've been to enough Divine Liturgies and have an Eastern Prayer Book to know the Orthodox believe, even if it is not a matter of Dogma, that Mary was conceived and remained sinless throughout her life and was been assumed body and soul into heaven once her earthly journey was complete.
burkardhanis 1 year ago
@burkardhanis
No, Mary was conceived with the original sin. She got purifief, but only Jesus was immaculate since the Conception.
Leobrigada 1 year ago
@2Nikolaos3 And yes, the RC is more guilty, but that is why the Orthodox can show now more charity and grant the forgiveness for the RC sins that JPII begged during the Great Jubilee of 2000. It is my impression, though I cannot prove it, that the Patriarch of Moscow and some of the Heirarchs of Greece are really the stumbling block as they prefer to dwell on past sins of the RC rather than strive to fulfill Christ's prayer that all might be one.
burkardhanis 1 year ago
@2Nikolaos3 as to Papal infallibility and the Pope's position as first among peers, the theologians from both Churches are working to see how that fits into the canonical unity that we all pray for. And the RC at this time have no problem with recognizing the Patriarch of Constantinople. So lets leave the past there, and work in prayer on those points that keep us separated contrary to Christ's prayer. It is nice to know you are open to dialogue, as am I. :)

Some of the comments on videos like this one are unfortunate. More people should remember what their mother told them: if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

@davidpwithun Oh David. What state would the world be in if we didnt speak up for all the nonsensical crap in the world ?
cullyvan 1 year ago

@rohirrim11rider amen! I pray that one day we will, once again, be ONE holy, catholic and apostalic Church!

hi please can you teach me where is the miracle in these dead bodies-i ask you this out of respect so i can understand
princefy 2 years ago
Well the miracle basically is miraculous mumification. Totally unexplainable or in the case of non believers, scientifically very unlikely because no preservatives are used at all. It's weird, the decay just doesn't happen as it would on a normal corpse. In the catholic church, we have many saints dubbed as "incorruptible".

As orthodox, I say the feeling is mutual, cataspecial does not represent the majority of Orthodox, my appologies!!!God bless!!!

Sure,what you said its right but i used a thick writing so it was very hard to read his name as Ilie,so i figuerd that it is easier for people to understand reading his last name,but yes you are right,God bless!
Ortodox4Life 3 years ago
just a little note - Lacatusu is the last name/family name for father Ilie, the proper way to call him is Saint Ilie (the Conffesor - maybe). In Romania is a common occurance to call priests by the last name, for example - father Staniloae, but remember when we pray for or to them ( in case of saints) we use the baptismal names.
forgive me
