  • It does not matter what you drive, if you cannot drive it properly it does not mean a thing, and you will get stuck.

  • ppl need to stop with this whole land rover, land cruiser, jeep, benz, hummer, what ever is better crap, i mean friendly competion is fun, but assholes take it so damn far, and bring shit up that is not even relevant to the video, who gives a shit, when it comes down to it, no vehicle is better when they dont have a driver to begin with, its also driver to, shut up, they are all actually evenly matched, no 2 can out do each other, cuz there built for the same thing

  • I could this with my 1999 montero/pajero one of the greatest offroaders of all time, at the same level as LC and LR and over jeeps by far!!

  • niiiiice!!

  • land rovers r quality!

  • Yesss......but : LAND ROVER IS...LAND ROVER!!

  • It has come to my attention that some of you out there do not feel that a LR is as good as a LC. Now the only problem I have with all of these previous posts, is the fact that you both claim off road dominance in a country clearly dominated by JEEPS. I drive one, have lived out of one,and have been everywhere and at times places a LR or LC cannot go. You are both big, oversized, and overpriced.I will keep my $4000 jeep with over 210,000 hard milles on it any day. American made,on American trails.

  • Now what would you do if I told you I used to own a 74 series two door Land Cruiser that has a similar wheel base and I assure you that it will rape your cute Heep on any trail, it came from factory with a PTO winch, 3 inch lift, a snorkle, a Toyota bull bar with rock sliders, and the reliability and build quality of a tank.

By the way I have a 1996 Land cruiser with646,000 trail miles, other than regular PM and a replaced HG(it wasnt broke just wearing out) it has had zero problems

  • ssshhhhh... Americans can just stop at the corner if their "Jeep" breaks

Don't try & tell americans (I am one to) that their truck is made to go around the corner, Landcruisers & G Wagons are made to cross the Sahara... & Land Rovers are made to leak and short.

No Expeditions in america... sorry. But yes if it makes you feel better to spend 10k on your Jeep and never wheel it past 200 miles from home, then come on here & tell us how bad ass it is gopher it. A Jeep will never cross the Sahara

  • You still on that "American made" this and that shit?

Jeep is likely made in China or Mexico.... so that you know.

  • What are you talking about? Jeep is still made in Toledo, Ohio. You should know before you talk crap like that.

  • Sorry. You are right. Jeep came out of the plants in the US.

Still it is a emotionally wasteful sentiment to be "buying America", considering Ford and Chrysler have plants all over the world, and when it comes to the time to close some of them down, the ones in the US are always shut first.

That's not much respect to the people who has been "Buying Americans".

  • Having said that, Jeep is not a bad rig. I had a couple 90 and 91 xj before, their Toyota auto transmissions help up quite well, and so was the Rubicon 4.5" lift kit, with OME shocks coming from Australia.

Or course, other parts made in the US were ok, too. :-)

The point, really, is: *Without modification*, a DISCO II can really go places where Jeep has problem with. And the suspension is a lot more sophisticated than Jeep.

  • @liquidfreak117 except for the fact that the new grand cherokee is sourced directly from the Mercedes ml. and jeeps entire 4wd system is based of of 4-matic. only with some slight variations. then all this german goodness is wrapped up in shitty American plastic in ohio. I'm a land rover owner and i love jeeps. but don't be to confident in your american made claims.

  • First thing there's absolutely no where your Jeep went that a LR or LC could not follow, unless it sprouted legs and hiked there. Secondly, there must be a reason why say, all 6+ billion people in the world choose Land Rovers and Land Cruisers over Jeeps... go to Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, Australia, and the Amazon and you'll only find LRs and LCs. But that's an American's opinion for you... totally myopic and devoid of the world that exists outside your borders.

  • @damieg82 i know you wrote this a year ago but that was a good comment

  • @damieg82 YEAAAAAAH!!!!

  • @liquidfreak117 what are you talking about over priced mabey new yes but i ppaid 4300 for my disco and it wheels better than my buddys jeep, and its not all the equiptment its skill to and knowing how your car acts offroad!

  • @liquidfreak117 I bought my 2000 land rover discovery for $3200...

NO major issues and it has never left me stranded anywhere.

  • So you wheel with Landys in Moab, but you've only ever seen two on the trail? Hmmm. I guess we won't pay attention to anything you say. I wish that Land Cruisers were 'culturizied' (is that a word?) into this American society, that way they might actually import the good ones that they sell in places like NZ, SA and Oz, not to mention Defenders. Get some seat time before you snap, little turtle. Out.

  • No I said I saw two in the bush as in Australia, however since I moved to the states I wheel with many LR clubs and some of my best friends drive LRs I just know that LCs are far superior, and if you think otherwise then give reasons instead of trying to twist things I say.

HOWEVER I am glad you are "culturized" enough to know that the US sold Cruiser is not the only cruiser, there are 6 other models made...74,76,77,78,79 and 105 series and of course the US 100 and 200 series

  • What my esteemed alter-ego meant to say was.... oh, never mind. Confused yet? By the way, boy, you don't want to be throwing words like 'ignorant' around. All that'll get you is a Landy blowing by when you or one of your Toyota buddies needs a tow. Like I said, relax. In my yard I have two Jeeps, two Landys and a Suzuki. Don't be so married to your fantasy.

  • I wheel with many different brands including LR I go to MOAB with a group near every year, and every year it makes me happier and happier That I own Land Cruisers there is no other vehicle that is so culturizied into society and is as capable from the factory, and no other vehicle that is built as strong as it is, and is as reliable.

I own 13 Land Cruisers and have owned many more back when i lived in South Africa, but unfortunatly I didnt bring them over to the US

  • Ok, why dont you come on up west of Boulder and we can see what a vehicle built out military experience can do versus a vehicle that is not used by any military. Also the vehicle did not have lockers, and that is option for your vehicle anyways.

  • the Land Cruiser was first made for the Jap military in 1945 also over 80 countries rely on it for their patrol vehicles, and from 1951 to this present day the Land Cruiser is acknowledged by the US army as a superior vehicle. Also the UN has purchased 60,000 Land Cruisers thats 13 Land Cruisers a day!

And while we are talking about build quality why has LR had multiple class action lawsuits for build quality and lack of safety, and has been on near every "bad buy list" that there is!

  • just so you know having a wheel lift off of the ground isnt a good thing...its an example of very poor articulation...

  • Thank you for letting me know that. You should know that it was a factory Land Rover, and it made it just fine. I do know that four is better than three. I have been off roading my whole life and even had it as a career. Step out of your TOYota and realize some of us do know what we are doing.

  • I never said you didnt and dont try and preach to me, Ive been off road longer than youve been alive, Ive lived in places that we rely on our vehicles for survival and live out of them for months at a time, And in my 40+years of extensive expedition and safari style off roading I have NEVERmet anyone who spoke highly of a Rover and only seen two while in the bush..and they were being towed home by Toyotas,The Toyota Land Cruiser is truely the worlds greatest strongest most capable 4x4 ever built

  • Wow dude, relax. Obviously you've led a fairly cloistered off road life, if you've only ever seen two landys in the bush. Also, you obviously need some written English lessons. Let me know if I can help with that. Oh, and you're right. Land Cruiser's are great vehicles. I've had a lot of fun beating them in at least 4 different countries.

  • there is truely nothing a Land Rover can do better than a Land Cruiser, if you think there is then say it and ill prove you wrong, go ahead...I enjoy argueing with ignorant LR owners. Lets take thid video for example, it shows the weak articulation and lack of lockers, a Land Cruiser of any year would have kept all fours on the ground and since the Cruiser has front rear and centre lockers it wouldnt have lost traction.

The Cruiser enjoys beating LR in over 160 countries

  • @landcruisers4life2

there are things land cruisers do better, but there are things land rovers do better, it really is that simple.

Personally i would rather have a Land Rover.

Oh and by saying that you "enjoy argueing with ignorant LR owners" says more about you then it does the cars.

Just one question though, what was the camel trophy choice of 4X4 for over 10 years?

  • by the way I always liked the Hurricane better than the HSE rims.

  • yeah baby, very nice Disco II. Awesome trail. I finally got my old man EMU's under my 2003 HSE today, can't wait to go and play on the trails. I want to get some ARB lockers soon, way expensive tho :o)

  • this is the first video ive seen of a stock disco from 2003 onwards offroading, you must be one of the only people to actualy get it dirty, good on ya

  • check the vid i got off roading, with a 2003 disco.

  • What about that jeep in the background? I heard it made it up in two wheel drive.

  • Only 'cause such a fat bastard was driving it (by fat bastard I mean big, buff Marine)

  • This is our mountain brother, he's a crazy kiwi!!!!

  • Sweet, and that's me - and stock!! Wait 'till I get a lift and lockers!
