in the books calvin's mom and dad never had names. the mom and dad would call each other "dear" and they would call calvin calvin. hope this helps :D

He said that they were nothing more than Calvin's parents, therefore names weren't necessary.

It makes sense to me. Adding names to them would twist their role a little too much, we would see them more as adults other than Calvin's parents. It's a little distracting from the characters that already have first names.
