I agree with Dr. Dyson's statement that if Crowley been a black officer who made a similar error against a famous white Harvard Professor (say for example Henry Kissinger) he would have been placed on extended assignment as a traffic cop. I really don't see why Pres.Obama saw the need to have a so-called 'beer summit'. Can all citizens of police abuse and complaint expect the same? You shd see the YT series about police being a big "street gang"
What kind of country do u want to live in where a question can't be asked of the President? And, why do u think the President should pick and choose what questions he feels like answering? I wish all politicians should be asked tough questions and be held accountable. If you make a mistake at work that is really bad you get fired, but politicians are immune? They just say "opps" blame it on the "system" when they are the system and no one is held accountable.
Was a stupid thing to say--period (what Obama said). They were just trying to do their job. Why didn't he cooperate with them? Why did he blow this out of proportion? If u saw a white man breaking into a residence, wouldn't you call the cops? Media thrives on crap like this. That way it sells and they can further divide our country. People think that whites are always racist and always wrong, but when blacks "act a fool" it's acceptable. "Can't we ALL (blacks and whites) just get along"?
so why didn't Gates cooperate with the police? I don't understand his blatant refusal to cooperate with police and show his i.d. That's what this incident was about. Why does EVERYTHING always turn into a black/white issue?
I don't know why people always turn everything into a race issue...... I don't recall that I turned this into a race issue, I simply stated that he didn't owe the police department an apology for saying "they acted stupidly"
I would like to say that Prof Gates was arrested like any other person could have been when acting suspiciously around premises.
Whether or not it was racially motivated I don't know, but Obama was out of line in criticising the CPD straight off. But of course, lovie2000 won't see beyond the factor of race.
Actually they didn't see a man 'climbing in a window". They got there after he was already in the house!
And HELL NO, Obama doesn't owe CPD an apology. He was right! Crowley wasn't acting with common sense. He didn't apologize to Prof. Gates for gang'busting into his home after he'd proven with two forms of ID that HE is the occupant of the home. What a duffus.
You are pretty girl and sound intelligent, but I just wanted let you know that the question the reporter asked him he already knew was coming. They actually hand pick the questions and rehearse the answer before going live. So Obama actually planned this out so it could take the issue away from healthcare for awhile and make Obama look like this race uniter but it actually backfired on him. He didn't have his teleprompter and we all know he speaks worse than Bush without the telepromter.
my last post on this subject... there are those whom grew up in bad times where alot of white people were ignorant and hateful and cruel which contributed to a growing number of African American people who took on the same hate for white people. Let the past remain the past let the wounds heal. I love all of my fellow Americans regardless of color. There is no reason in this day and time we can not all live together in peace and prosperity. Fight against those who oppose unity of races!!!!
Why do people care if a man is black or white the color of their skin does not speak to the character of a man no more than does the color of the grass in March. If we continue to efine differences between men and women simply because of color then we all as members of the human race will continue to be ignorant and indulge those who fuel this hatered
Gates earned his undergraduate degree at Yale University, gaining a B.A. summa cum laude in History. He he wrote in his Yale application, "As always, whitey now sits in judgment of me, preparing to cast my fate. It is your decision either to let me blow with the wind as a nonentity or to encourage the development of self. Allow me to prove myself."
Martex.. "the man whose time is the most Valuable in the History of the World" Are you kidding me Do you think Obama is any different that the other hand puppets who have run this country he is not serving the common interest of this country and he isn't the one writing the policies. lets talk about the 6 men 5 whom are White that actually authored the Health Care Reform Bill who some of whom have been in congress longer than Obama has been alive.
Obama was wrong and should apoligize the incident had nothing to do with him and did not need his input! Gates doesn't deserve an apology he was arrested for his verbal abuse and actions after the fact he was not arrested for break and enter. Sgt Crowley, the Cambridge Police and Police officers nationwide should be commended for their ongoing efforts to protect everyone place a white man in Prof Gates position yelling racism and being belligerent and he to would be arrested.
Well from what I saw in the live broadcast he didn't offer his input, he was asked this question at the end of his speech and he chose to answer it based on what he knew. Granted I wish he had declined to answer, but he did and I don't feel he owes anyone an apology for that.
It really wouldn't make a difference if he answered or not, because we all know if he had declined to answer, there would be some of the same going on as to why he wouldn't answer.
YOU ARE WASTING THE TIME OF THE MAN WHOSE TIME IS THE MOST VALUABLE IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD.
ANY PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, IF WHITE, WOULD NOT EVEN BE APPROACHED BY YOU FOR SUCH AN APOLOGY.
YOU ERR ON THE SIDE OF RACISM, AS USUAL.
YOU SHOULD ALL GO DIRECTLY TO THE DEEPEST PARTS OF HELL FOR WHAT YOU ARE DOING TO THE POSSIBILITY OF CONCENTRATION ON THE STICKY PROBLEMS OF SOLVING THIS COUNTRY'S ECONOMIC PROBLEMS ...
Obama could have declined to answer the question altogether, as he shuld have done. All he had to say is, 'this matter is not in my jurisdiction, and I cannot answer this question since I was not there.'
Since he did answer, he must be responsible for what comes out of his mouth, every time.
Gates asked for an apology because he thinks he's a victim of racial profiling. This is ridiculous, because one of the arresting officers was black. The cops should not apologize for doing their job (And I'm an Anarchist, I'm not even that fond of police!).
Obama should apologize, like anyone would, for acting before knowing the whole issue, and getting involved in a public affair, just because his friend was arrested. But he's already made amends with the police, so it is time to move on.
True, I'm not saying that this particular scenario was racial profiling, but people kill me, trying to make something right just because a black cop agreed with the white cop. What we fail to realize is the message regardless of the color of the skin, a group of people will always stick together. That cop doesn't give a damn about whether Gates was wrongfully arrested or not, he is only thinking of himself and his job, so he is not going to go against his fellow officer whether wrong or right..
The Police shouldn't apologize because they were doing their job. If you were a cop, and you had a call about a possible break-in, and when you got their there was a man trying to get in who refused to show you identification, would you arrest him, or let a potential thief break into someones house!? Based on the information they had, they did the right thing. Gates should have showed ID.
Regardless of who asked, if Obama did not know enough about the incident, he should have just said so.
He did show his ID, where are some of you getting your information, Crowley said on tape that "it's his house but keep the cars coming, and send harvard campus securityas well.
After verifying it was his home regardless of race, I would have said sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused have a good day, and left, but like I said before, Crowley kept adding fuel to an already raging fire (Gates) instead of leaving after he verified it was indeed his home
It is no one person's fault, they all were at fault, Gates for losing his temper, Crowley for losing his and arresting him, the other officers, for standing around supporting a false arrest, and that old lady for not knowing her neighbor and having a woman on the streets, call the police on a man, trying to unjam the door to his own home.
The police were screwed. Obama aside. I think he made a stupid remark, but thats another story these cops were damned either way. If they dont investigate the house, its, "So you not going to take care of the Black Man's house!" They didnt beat him, all they did was ask for I.D. and he refused! Why would you refuse unless it WASNT your house. If it was a white president calling a black police officer stupid, the world would have gone nuts!
It was unfortunate, and not very smart, to make known an opinion before knowing all the facts. The President is NOT a stupid man, and its disappointing to see him act this way. Yes, he should appologize.
I do believe a racist was there, but it wasnt Sgt Crowley.
whether he said is stupid, or acted stupidly is beside the point. the word "stupid" or anything even close to it should not have been said ESPECIALLY, after statements from two police officers of two different ethnic groups clearly pointed out that mr. gates was way out of line. Now, I say again, Obama should apologize to the whole dam police department for talkin trash about two good cops, just to try playin the race game to boost his ratings, which are falling pretty low, less than 50% now.
No, it's not beside the point, it is exactly the point, because it is the main focus of why some of you say he should apologize. And because two different officers of two different ethnic groups said he was out of line, doesn't mean the officer wasn't out of line as well. Nobody knows what went on or what was said inside that house but Gates and Crowley.
So who's to say that the officer didn't say something to him to stir the mans emotions up?
If he was polka dot, with stripes on his ass, I would like him.
You should really read more instead shoving books up people's ass's, a fact is something which is true, and the fact is you do not know me nor do you know why I support or like an individual.
You saying I like Obama because he is black,( which he is not) is your OPINION.
I think both are happy now that it happened! They both got to sit down at the White House and have a beer with the President and Vice President. How cool is that? People would pay millions of dollars to have that same experience.
Why is it that no attention is paid to the other police officer that was there who plainly stated that officer Crowley was not wrong in his actions, and the he did his job. I think Obama should apologize to both officers, as well as the entire department for say ing they were stupid, after statements by at least 2 police officers, one white AND, one black, and then sit back and let it turn into a huge racial deal!
Man, i thought you were pretty, but your are stupidity makes you less attractive.Gates is the racist here. He should've cooperated and not yelled at the cop and none of this would've happened. N-- please.. Don't give me this BS. Racist crap. Define racist and ask yourself if you'r one. I think Obama and Gates owe this man an apology. He was just doing his job! If I were in Gates position, I would've just comply and said thank you for getting to the house right away. There is no burglary here.
Well I think you should apologize for calling my views stupid, since you don't know me or what I believe and stand for,
I am waiting, not, I don't need your apology or your approval, I have the right to state my opinion and in my opinion Obama does not owe anyone an apology for his statement..
Crowley and Gates acted stupidly and overreacted in their actions on that day, vecause one wanted to be bigger than other; end of discussion.
As for your racist comment I do not think that I am superior to any other race, so you can kiss my ass with "you r racist " bullshit
And racist never came out of my mouth in the video, all of you that are commenting on this video are the ones that brought up this you are, they are, racist bullshit.
Take that shit somewhere else,
Nigger, since you couldn't finish typing what you really wanted to say, I will type it for you, Nigger, there's one for the road too. pissy bastard
You Whites consider any Black that don't kiss your ass is a racist. Your racism is astounding. The 911 call proved there was racial profiling cause the woman never described any of the gentlemen as black. But yet on the police report it states 2 black men with backpacks were seen..hmmmm. You Whites are too busy tryna dig up dirt on us but completely overlook your own dirt. Which is a steaming pile of horse shit.
Im white, my white friends call ME racist because i have more black then white, now most white people are ignorant and really don't know what they are talking about when the word racist exits their mouths, but there are some of us who don't expect anything from anyone.
Ive heard white people say that you shouldn't be friends with a black man because well he'd shoot you, now if you don't have the right to punch that person in the face then you don't have freedom, i don't have any racial issues.
Of course he owes the CPD an apology. He was not aware of the circumstances and was biased due to his relationship to Gates. The world is listening, be more considerate when speaking..
Whatever, he had every right to talk back and ask that officer for his name and badge #, and tell him that he was gonna report him. They both were on ego and power trips.
All it tells me that the media and the press won again. But it's not over, trust and believe it will come back up. The officer himself won't let it die. nor any of the ordinary people in this world. Even the lady that called the police has hired her own lawyer.
he doesnt owe them apology...he said the officer ACTED stupid not that he was stupid. The officer didnt apologize. Plus this isnt a presidential issue...its up to the local city/state gov't. But is obama wants to give his opinion...thats just what it is. A Opinion ...based on what he heard at the time. NO APOLOGY NEEDED!!!
Yeah let's get drunk and forget about it. Pump them full of alcohol and run away from the problem. The problem is still there, they're arguing again, give something else to drink to shut them up.
Also: this thing was blown way out of proportion, gates should have calmly talkes with the Officer, not say 'I'll talk to yo mama outside" This is coming from a harvard professor.
Of course libs think it's the cops fault 100%. Blacks want to keep this thing alive forever....Whites are in this position also...let it go dude.
To put another spin on the subject I liked in a house that I rented from my second cousin and one day I locked my keys in the house on my way out to work...I figured I would just break in after work and that would be it...It was that the first time this happened...Anyway as I was about to get my fat ass into the dining room window someone said,"What are you doing"...Come to find out someone had called the owner instead of the cops and when he found out it was me he said to keep a key outside..
i dont know what happend. but if they got off subject in mind no. why the time spent for certin conversations is for just that. being the president and all. if that always happend nothing would ever get done. peace. gregg
In light of the released 911 tapes can you now see that the neighbor was truly trying to do a good service for her neighbor (Mr. Gates) and that the police officer acted in a very professional manner? President Obama should have never commented on the situation especially with the paucity of facts. Not to mention that he is a lawyer and should know better.
President Obama practiced racial profiling against a white police officer and should apologize.
In light of the 911 tapes it answers my question of did she not what the neighbor looked like, and the answer is she is not a neighbor, she just worked in the neighborhood. Secondly, it shows that the police report is full of lies, he said he talked to the woman and that she told him that it was two black men, and the lady never talked to the officer, so who's lying now, yep the officer, just as I thought all along.
Not only are you misinformed about the incident, but you are also misinformed about police protocol. The police officer's summary of the incident is accurate. Unfortunately your response shows that you not only have a prejudice against white people but also a prejudice against the police.
How do you explain the fact that black and hispanic police officers stand by officer Crowley? All of whom are...WERE... Obama supporters.
No I am not misinformed, nor am I racist, nor have I displayed a prejudice towrds police, my cousin is a sheriff and he is a white man. And the officers report is not accurate he did not talk to that lady at the scene, she did not tell anyone that it was 2 black men, but he put it in the report that he talked to her and she this, when this did not happenjust that part alone makes the report not true, nor accurate. And listen to the recording of him reporting to the station........))))))))))))<
You forgot to address the fact that the other police officers and civilians at the scene stand by the officer. Also, do you excuse Gates' racist behavior?
Professor Gates yelled racial ephitets at officer Crowley. He pre-judged the officer's motives for no reason other than his skin color.
President Obama maligned the officer and took the side of his friend, which is both racism and cronyism, before he knew the facts of the case. The President also ASSUMED what the officer's motives were based on past prejudices.
And you, Lovie, have yet to explain the fact that ALL of the police officers - white, black and latinos - stand by officer Crowley.
Pres."Obama maligned the officer and took the side of his friend, which is both racism and cronyism," he didn't take the side of his friend, he stated that they both overeacted, but like everyone else, all you and the other people heard was "they acted stupidly" which doesn't mean they are stupid.
As for the other officers, they all stand by each other whether they are wrong are right and they were not inside the house with crowley, they only know what they saw when he got him to come outside
Your ignorance and prejudice has shown through. And you are acting stupidly.
Gates overreacted and got belligerent, not the police officer. President Obama ASSUMED that they BOTH overreacted which was not the case. President Obama went so far as to say that the reason reason the police officer overreacted (which we know now that he didn't) was due to race. He was wrong as has yet to apologize for his ASSUMPTION, which was based on race and his admitted bias toward "Skip" Gates.
Gates was arrested, and rightfully so, for disorderly conduct when he insisted on following the officer outside and continuing to yell racial ephitets at the officer and even make childish comments regarding the officer's mother
Now I must say that you are the one that is misinformed,
He did not insist on following the officer outside.
Crowley kept demanding Gates to come outside, Gates refused and after Crowley kept pressing him to go outside, that is when Gates started to get more upset, and made the remark about his mother.. And once he got him outside that is when he arrested him, for disorderly conduct in a public setting.
As for me u can call me what you want, but it doesn't make it true.
Gates was yelling at the officer inside, demanding his name and making threats that the officer "didn't know who he was 'messing' with". Officer Crowley told Gates his name twice but Gates wouldn't stop yelling long enough to listen. Gates was yelling so loud that Crowley couldn't communicate with ECC so he told Gates he was going outside where the witnesses were. Gates followed him out to take a few more shots at him. The officer warned him twice, then arrested him.
So, Obama stating that they both overreacted and the officer acted stupidly in arresting Gates in his own home, is not racist, yes he may have displayed cronyism by partially favoring Gates, but racist, no. And I didn't hear anything in his answer to LYNN, that showed he assumed the officer was prejudice or racist. he simply stated that, the arrest was taken as racial profiling by some, once the media got whole of it. I listened to the whole press conference live, not a replay of a snippet
& note that of approx. 15 police cars outside Mr. Gates home, approx. 10 were CAMPUS po-po --from the very campus where he is a Professor. THEY didn't know??
Yet another of those obvious situations where people like crowley & his klan will escape penalty & likely be rewarded.
Each time he brings up things like him being in charge of "sensitivity training" in the past, & calling on his "black" affiliates 4confirmation,
see the cops didn't know who they were arresting, they got busted for acting like jerks. if he was a ordinary black man we probably would of never heard of this injustice against him.
hawtchiq, you have no point because, the proffessor showed his id to the cops before he was handcuffed but, he still got arrested. this has nothing to do with the neighbors calling the cops that was actually a good thing they have done. we are talking about the cops arresting a man in his own house when he showed them the proper documents stating that it was his house.
the proffessor's lawyer said he showed the cops his id, and other credentials to prove it was his house before getting put in handcuffs, why did he still get arrested? if that was a white person who broke into thier house, and the cops showed up the incident would have went very different even if the white person lost thier cool.
The entirety of the history of this country from its beginnings until now have been involved in the process of trying every conceivable means of depriving blacks their "Pursuit of Happiness (Property)" and if attained, to separate persons from the rights to that acquired property or simply deprive them of that property by its utter destruction.
Black Wall Street and the destruction thereof is only that most indemic of exemplary conduct of a negative of the American Dream.
ok i know ive commented about diff racial sorts on this video but let me ask anyone who sees this a question...if you were in jacksonville florida in the worst neighbor hood and ur a black/white cop w/e and you ask them to freeze and get on the ground and they reach in there pants what would you do?
I would do what I was trained as a police officer 2 do, so the point u are trying to make is? I hope its not that the arrest is justifiable b'cuz is the protocol, b'cuz it is not, the man was talking back to the man despite his tone, this is not disorderly conduct, which is what he arrested him on, but released him because the charge was false, now why doesn't he owe an apology for false arrest. Go to my site and read the police report in the blog, see if anything there changes ur thoughts
1- I think the President jumped the shark here he didnt have both sides of the story.
2- Your right he shouldnt of gave an answer at all, it was an inappropriate question, this was an isolated incident that can be handled on the local level.
3- Heck no he doesnt owe them and apology. The cop still was out of line.
I don't feel what he said was wrong at all. it was the truth, Obama called it like he saw it. I guess we now want a liar for Prez? * However, I personally thought Obama should have avoided the wasteful last question all together.*
It was so irrelevant at that moment. The only good I see in this----->I believe cops might slow their aim on BM a little bit after all this commotion. At least for the rest of the year.
Example: on Oct9, '08 Superior Court Judge Cofield, a black woman, was arrested for drunk driving by a black officer and hurls racial slurs at him
Now, if a Superior Court Judge can behave in this manner to a Police Officer, it don't surprise me that a "harvard" man could too. AND, Obama essentially called the cops "stupid" AND admitted he did not have all the facts
Obama/Gates must apologize as men (black/white) should do. Blacks want equality? Then take EQUAL responsibility for mistakes
the transcript for the Judge Cofield - Officer Washington exchange is easily searchable on the internet. and is titled "an example of black on black racism" from blackchristiannews (dot) com. and anonymous blogger posted "this woman is crazy as hell. but this is the problem with black people. we don't respect each other. so why should the white people respect us"
I just bet thaT blackchristiannews(dot)com is not really a put up job by the Christian Far right wing of the Republican Party, disguising their disgust for Black Professional persons of all genders with equal responsibility for the RAGE they INTEND to create this year as they divide Blacks and Whites and attempt to Conquer the White House, a job they failed so miserably at LAST Summer that I was able to get some needed sleep on Election Night, November 4, after working hard for Obama since 2004.
To reiterate: Obama and Gates must apologize, because they are MEN, and that is the MANLY thing to do, regardless or race, profession, stature, etc.
2nd lesson: don't provoke a cop. Whether they are right or wrong, they can fuck with you, they will fuck with you, they are underpaid, underappreciated and under a lot of stress, and they will right a report and make you look guilty. Are the charges going to stick? Hell no! But now you got a public mugshot and embarassment. That's your punishment
I don't understand your comment. they should apologize because the constitution does not apply when the police decide it does not? he was arrested for talking in his own home, I thought this was protected by the 1st amendment. the disorderly conduct charge was a joke!
So, since Judge Cofield is Black and Obama is Black and Gates is Black they somehow should be FORCED to KNEEL to you and APOLOGIZE for the fact of your BRUTAL treatment of them just as in the days when failure to do so meant the death of a Slave?
I suggest you should maybe buy a calendar from THIS century.
Now, I sell a great one, and its called PowerCal, a computer program I wrote from 1989-1996 when it was copyrighted,
Maybe if you purchased ANYTHING from ANY Black person's manufacture.....
Cofield wronged another black person. Obama is 1/2 white. His father is an African immigrant (a descendant of American slavery he is not). A white neighbor & a white officer were trying to protect a black man's property. So what point are you trying to make by saying "forced to kneel," "brutal treatment," & "death of a slave?"
By Gates own words (admission), his door was jammed and he was trying to force it open (easily mistaken for an attempted break in)
After I stopped seeing red just now as I picked up your reply on my blackberry, I thought to myself, "This guy has no inkling as to history or anything else, and this is supposed to be a 'teaching moment' for all of us....so, don't box him around the ears for his lack of sensitivity to human beings, since he actually believes that a guy unloading luggage INTO a house with a Chauffeured Limosine should look to a neighbor like a burglar, as long as the person is Black, ....."
.......and he also believes that all Black people should still be THANKING the good white massas for buying them away from NASTY OLD AFRICA to bask in the sun while picking crops that made America what it is today (or at least what it was before Cheney busted his back on the day before the inauguration while loading all that Bouillon in boxes he should have called one of his slaves to carry...) and all Blacks should be very apologetic when they don't give in to whatever punishment any...
Whiite person wishes to dish out since that Supreme Court decision of Justice Taney actually said that "A Black Man Has no rights that any White Man is bound to respect....." a decision in the Dred Scott case that has never actually been reversed, and which leads to the sickness you presently display........"
Hawtchiq, this part (A white neighbor & a white officer were trying to protect a black man's property.) of your comment makes absolutely no sense. You say they were trying to protect a Black mans property, but she called the police on the Black man that owns the property, he is their neighbor. If she was trying to protect the black mans property, don't you think she should have recognized the owner when she was looking at him forcing his own door open with his luggage visible.
Said AidanNagolxxx (to me privately to avoid the ensuing public embarrassment)
...
"He was only beaten because he wouldn't submit to being arrested. They would of done the same if Rodney King was white. I don't think they had tazers back then, if they had it would of prevented a riot."
Do you have the slightest idea of how well you would have done as a good German in Nazi Germany?
But, about Lynn Sweet, the questioner at the news conference, who is a marginally known Chicago newspaper writer ........... Take a really good look at her when she appears on TV and tell me if she shouldn't dry out just a little bit.
She asked the question, for the very reason of getting the results that she got.
And Obama trying answer every question fell for it. As I said before if he had declined, it would still be a bunch of talk about that too, all because he wouldn't answer the womans question.
I believe Gates should be forced to APOLOGISE to the police for HIS actions. The police arrived at his house thinking someone had broke in, they asked him to show I.D and he refused. So he deserved to be arrested. Obama should apologise for getting his facts wrong, he knows what he says carries a lot of weight and he insulted the Cambridge police department. These police officers have to deal with a dangerous stressful job everyday and because of what Obama said it's now more dangerous.
He identified himself as the proper occupant of the house, which he rents, and he was accompanied by a liveried chauffeur and bags just unloaded from a Limo with the Limo still present and you want HIM to apologize?
Apparently you have never taken an exhausting trip out of town on business or otherwise and returned home with little patience left for a cop who wants to harrass and arrest you in your own living room.
Not identifying with this situation marks you as xenophobic.
xenophobic?, I don't think so. I am making my assumptions based on several news videos I have watched here on youtube about what happened. This is the first I've heard of a limo and chauffeur. I heard he arrived with a friend, the door was stuck and they had to force their way in, a neighbour thought they were breaking in and called the police. The friend left, cops arrived, they asked for I.D and he refused to co-operate. I would be pissed off too but he caused the trouble for himself.
......that's the same thing they said of Rodney King when he wouldn't meekly submit to the beating or subject himself to same by lying quietly dead while being killed.
He was only beaten because he wouldn't submit to being arrested. They would of done the same if Rodney King was white. I don't think they had tazers back then, if they had it would of prevented a riot.
Aidan, they told about the Chauffeur in the news on the first release of the incident.
But when they found out that it was indeed his home, instead of adding fuel to the fire, they should have said "sorry for the misunderstanding Mr. Gates have a nice day"
When a person is already agitated (we don't know what this man had already experience prior to this incident) treating him like a criminal in his own house, doesn't calm him down
This incident is only about race because Gates has made it out to be. I'm sure the officer would of apologised and left after finally getting him to show some I.D but Gates was loud and abusive. He is a professor of "African American Studies", so it sounds like he has a huge chip on his shoulder when it comes to white police officers. If it was a real break and enter happening I'm sure he would of been very happy for this same police officer to arrive.
Marketex, not to mention, why did the neighbor call the police should be question #1, do they not know what their neighbor looks like, which I am sure they do.
I think that subject matter is adequately covered in the movie "Amos and Andrew".....since this incident very closely replicates the plot details in that movie.
Whether they knew what their neighbor actually looked like or not ( or whether they LIKE the way their neighbor looks like) a guy unpacking luggage from a Limo is hardly the first guy I would suspect of being a burglar.
i don't know what my neighbors look like, i live in a complex with many neighbors. Not all neighbors HAVE to know what the other looks like, nor do they have to be the typical neighbors we see in tv shows where they all get along and have barbecues, etc.
Well, this isn't an apartment complex, it is house in a suburban area, with a Black man living in it next to a white woman. She knows what he looks like and if she didn't she should have.
Now the complex thing, if you have a person living directly across or beside you, coming in and out everday, u will eventually see them, there is no way u can say that if you walked out your door and saw them forcing the door because its stuck that u wouldn't know they live there, don't forget, with luggage
i disagree, you don't have to know and how would we know to begin with if the lady knew what he looked like. Personally if someone thought a person was breaking into my house, I'll love them for sending a cop to my home to check on me.
........and you can't FORCE anyone to "APOLOGISE" since the word is spelled "A-P-O-L-O-G-I-Z-E" (proving once again that you are so fearful that you avoid the letter "z" thinking that it initiates the word "xenophobic"!
And just how would you manage the process of "force" required by you to bring about any apology, since apologies are, by their very nature VOLUNTARY?
I thought you would get stuck on the spelling portion of the comment totally avoiding the real concept you have of trying to force anyone to do anything including apologize (the American Spelling about an incident in America, where you wish to force the President of the United States of America or Professor Gates to totally forget the Constitution of the United States of America as they yeild to the force of some person like you who thinks they can be forced to do what is a voluntary act.)
Great video, Lovie! I am loving this video! It is interesting that so many of the people who believe Obama owes an apology to the CPD never asked Bush or his Administration to apologize for the numerous mistakes and out right lies spoken during his two terms!
Obama owes no apology! The CPD owes the apology! And this is not a race issue this is a profiling issue concerning the PD! They should never restrained that girl like that! They are trained to properly restrain! *drops mic*
Affirmative action is based on statistics and racial profiling is the same. If you support the idea of affirmative action then you can't oppose racial profiling without being a hypocrite.
Firstly, Affirmative Action and Racial Profiling the way it was used in this situation, do not qualify as being the same! One is used to try to end a horrible situation in the US (TO SOME EXTENT) and the other keeps a horrible situation going! Secondly, who said I support Affirmative Action? ...LOL! For my undergraduate studies I was on full scholarship because of my intelligence not Affirmative Action! I was Valedictorian of my class with a 1550, out of 1600 at the time, SAT score!
All the schools I got a full scholarship from, and most of them were Ivy League, was because of my hard work and determination not because of Affirmative Action! I didn't even check the box to let them know my race! I also received a full school to all of my choices for graduate school! So, before you bring up Affirmative Action, which was never mentioned in my argument, know the facts! And BTW...you don't owe me an apology for that!
Thats right! I don't owe you an apology. And I only mentioned affirmative action because you mentioned profiling. As for your academic achievements well good for you, I'm glad you did well without help. If more people of all races followed in your footsteps then maybe there wouldn't be so many gun totting thug wannabes running around killing people.
Then you can agree Obama doesn't owe an apology either, Im sure! Because if you don't owe one for talking about a situation that I never mentioned while showing your ignorance in the process you can totally understand Obama speaking on a situation in which he did not have all the facts yet blabbered on about one subject because the reporter mentioned the other! BTW...think about what I just wrote before you write me back!
I will take ignorance over arrogance any day. Because you did good in college doesn't make your OPINIONS better than anyone else. I stand by everything I said and if your only argument is to accuse me of ignorance well then keep it to yourself.
Sweetie I'm just talking to you! I feel nothing negative about anything you've said! Nor do I think I'm better than you! I still find you ignorant however! Clearly your first message to me wasn't thought out and everything after that wasn't either! I stated my achievements, which GOD helped me to earn, because of your ignorant comment! I should've left it alone but I thought I would have some fun with you! It's been fun! BTW I promise not to respond because I know you want the last word!
Maybe if more people of all races followed in my footsteps, then maybe there wouldn't be so many ignorant, uninformed abusers on the internet spreading their hatred thereby killing more people than these thug wannabes out in the real world!!! But thank you for replying to my comments and for being somewhat respectful! That is more than I can say for some!
The only people who I know of who have died as a result of the internet is a crazy black guy and that girl Asia whom he murdered. Obviously you have your head in the sand if you really think more murders are committed from whats said on the internet than by the gangs and thugs in the REAL world. I guess your not so bright after all.
i don't support obama at all, however i give obama credit for telling the truth about these corrupt police departments in america. those cops where stupid, and once they saw the mans address on the id,along with his harvard i'd,he should have ended the investigation there, but being an ass hole cop who took being called a racist personal and arrested the man without a search warrant. the cops where wrong, fuck an apology!!!!!!!!
Thanks for watching Princess and go join my website, you can post/link your videos there, put some of those delicious recipes in the forum and so forth. Would love to have you there contributing your knowledge and ideas on things. And feel free to invite some more ladies and I guess gentlemen (lol) over. Can't wait to follow one of your recipes.
Obama should have never commented on something he didn't have full knowledge of. Certainly would have save him from having to 'calm a storm' today. The media lady should have NEVER asked that question! Thats my opinion .. as for the apology...I don't believe he needs to apologize for stating his opinion...I just think he should've known the criteria better before he answered.
My opinion, the question was asked, the President should have stated "No Comment" bcuz Professor Gates is a friend of his. We dont know the whole story, Mr. Gates may have went off (got belligerent) as soon as Officer Crowley asked for ID. No the President shouldn't apologize, but he shouldn't have called the police dept. stupid & hinted this was a racial heated incident after saying he didn't know all of the facts.
That's what I said yesterday evening when that woman asked that question,"I was like, oh lord, decline to answer" but then I thought "what if he had declined to answer, what do you think they would be saying then?"
It wouldn't matter if he answered or not, they would have still turned this into a racial thing at the end of the day in relation to Obama.
i'm from boston the cops are racist at times i know first hand. i was driving my car one night around 7:30pm awhile ago and got pull down for a tail light being blown the cop pulled me over and ask me what am i doing in milton, mass.like i have no right to be in this part of town.i exeperinced cops calling my younger brother nigga also alwhile ago.the professor had no right getting arrested period in his own house even if he mouth off to the cops.the cops should have left if their was no crime.
Dearest Ronie, this is an issue for Americans only - All I can say is that, indeed, you're one of the most beautiful woman alive :) Lots of love from Paris :)
well i love seeing black women, scratch that black people in general being professional ¬ all stereo-typically talking like they're uneducated. i really hate when black people do that to themselves because i feel like we'll never prove that stereotype wrong if we done start educating our self. Our ancestors worked SO hard to get us the rights we have now &some of us just take it for granted &it just saddens me. im only 16 going on 17 and i feel like our younger generation can do so much more!
it is very different when it is dignitaries making comments. i can insult you and you would never get an apology from me, no matter how disturbing the comment was.
if it was someone in an executive position, they would be quick to give an apologetic response, even if the comment didnt come from them.
the professor acted childish, according to witnesses and the officers. he deserves no apology. obama did not have all the facts and commented on the matter. he deserves to give an aplogy.
No he doesn't owe them an apology, the CPD should be upheld to the same standards as well, being that they are LAW enforcement, they did act stupidly the man was inside his house when they got there, he showed his ID, while at the same time pitching a bitch b'cuz of the way they were treating him. Instead of just apologizing (like PO's do, fin cases of misunderstanding) they just kept adding fuel to the fire. Any of us would have been riled up if it was us, there was no reason to take him 2 jail
This has been flagged as spam show
I agree with Dr.

BurlyBadass 2 years ago
Was a stupid thing to say--period (what Obama said). They were just trying to do their job. Why didn't he cooperate with them? Why did he blow this out of proportion? If u saw a white man breaking into a residence, wouldn't you call the cops? Media thrives on crap like this. That way it sells and they can further divide our country. People think that whites are always racist and always wrong, but when blacks "act a fool" it's acceptable. "Can't we ALL (blacks and whites) just get along"?
The1memphisman 2 years ago
so why didn't Gates cooperate with the police? I don't understand his blatant refusal to cooperate with police and show his i.d. That's what this incident was about. Why does EVERYTHING always turn into a black/white issue?
The1memphisman 2 years ago
I don't know why people always turn everything into a race issue...... I don't recall that I turned this into a race issue, I simply stated that he didn't owe the police department an apology for saying "they acted stupidly"
As for Gates, he did show his I.D.
lovie2000 2 years ago
I would like to say that Prof Gates was arrested like any other person could have been when acting suspiciously around premises.
Whether or not it was racially motivated I don't know, but Obama was out of line in criticising the CPD straight off. But of course, lovie2000 won't see beyond the factor of race.
daveevans1000 2 years ago

Truth Seum101 about Gates:
Gates earned his undergraduate degree at Yale University, gaining a B.A. summa cum laude in History. He he wrote in his Yale application, "As always, whitey now sits in judgment of me, preparing to cast my fate. It is your decision either to let me blow with the wind as a nonentity or to encourage the development of self. Allow me to prove myself."
corry73 2 years ago

Sgt Crowley, the Cambridge Police and Police officers nationwide should be commended for their ongoing efforts to protect everyone place a white man in Prof Gates position yelling racism and being belligerent and he to would be arrested.
corry73 2 years ago
Well from what I saw in the live broadcast he didn't offer his input, he was asked this question at the end of his speech and he chose to answer it based on what he knew. Granted I wish he had declined to answer, but he did and I don't feel he owes anyone an apology for that.
It really wouldn't make a difference if he answered or not, because we all know if he had declined to answer, there would be some of the same going on as to why he wouldn't answer.
lovie2000 2 years ago
You ALL should apologize to OBAMA!!
MARKETEX 2 years ago
Obama could have declined to answer the question altogether, as he shuld have done. All he had to say is, 'this matter is not in my jurisdiction, and I cannot answer this question since I was not there.'
Since he did answer, he must be responsible for what comes out of his mouth, every time.
sarahgittel 2 years ago
Gates asked for an apology because he thinks he's a victim of racial profiling. This is ridiculous, because one of the arresting officers was black. The cops should not apologize for doing their job (And I'm an Anarchist, I'm not even that fond of police!).
Obama should apologize, like anyone would, for acting before knowing the whole issue, and getting involved in a public affair, just because his friend was arrested. But he's already made amends with the police, so it is time to move on.
DoomHippie 2 years ago
Just because one of the arresting officers was Black does not mean that he could not participate in the act of "Racial Profiling".
beautylocs 2 years ago
True, I'm not saying that this particular scenario was racial profiling, but people kill me, trying to make something right just because a black cop agreed with the white cop. What we fail to realize is the message regardless of the color of the skin, a group of people will always stick together. That cop doesn't give a damn about whether Gates was wrongfully arrested or not, he is only thinking of himself and his job, so he is not going to go against his fellow officer whether wrong or right..
lovie2000 2 years ago
The Police shouldn't apologize because they were doing their job. If you were a cop, and you had a call about a possible break-in, and when you got their there was a man trying to get in who refused to show you identification, would you arrest him, or let a potential thief break into someones house!? Based on the information they had, they did the right thing. Gates should have showed ID.
Regardless of who asked, if Obama did not know enough about the incident, he should have just said so.
DoomHippie 2 years ago
He did show his ID, where are some of you getting your information, Crowley said on tape that "it's his house but keep the cars coming, and send harvard campus securityas well.
After verifying it was his home regardless of race, I would have said sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused have a good day, and left, but like I said before, Crowley kept adding fuel to an already raging fire (Gates) instead of leaving after he verified it was indeed his home
lovie2000 2 years ago
Why is it Crowley's fault? Why not the other officers that were there?
DoomHippie 2 years ago
It is no one person's fault, they all were at fault, Gates for losing his temper, Crowley for losing his and arresting him, the other officers, for standing around supporting a false arrest, and that old lady for not knowing her neighbor and having a woman on the streets, call the police on a man, trying to unjam the door to his own home.
lovie2000 2 years ago
The police were screwed. Obama aside. I think he made a stupid remark, but thats another story these cops were damned either way. If they dont investigate the house, its, "So you not going to take care of the Black Man's house!" They didnt beat him, all they did was ask for I.D. and he refused! Why would you refuse unless it WASNT your house. If it was a white president calling a black police officer stupid, the world would have gone nuts!
Thanks for posting the video!
CoachFogg 2 years ago
It was unfortunate, and not very smart, to make known an opinion before knowing all the facts. The President is NOT a stupid man, and its disappointing to see him act this way. Yes, he should appologize.
I do believe a racist was there, but it wasnt Sgt Crowley.
gotgank 2 years ago
whether he said is stupid, or acted stupidly is beside the point. the word "stupid" or anything even close to it should not have been said ESPECIALLY, after statements from two police officers of two different ethnic groups clearly pointed out that mr. gates was way out of line. Now, I say again, Obama should apologize to the whole dam police department for talkin trash about two good cops, just to try playin the race game to boost his ratings, which are falling pretty low, less than 50% now.
XoCONNIEALWAYSXo 2 years ago
No, it's not beside the point, it is exactly the point, because it is the main focus of why some of you say he should apologize. And because two different officers of two different ethnic groups said he was out of line, doesn't mean the officer wasn't out of line as well. Nobody knows what went on or what was said inside that house but Gates and Crowley.
So who's to say that the officer didn't say something to him to stir the mans emotions up?

Why is it that no attention is paid to the other police officer that was there who plainly stated that officer Crowley was not wrong in his actions, and the he did his job. I think Obama should apologize to both officers, as well as the entire department for say ing they were stupid, after statements by at least 2 police officers, one white AND, one black, and then sit back and let it turn into a huge racial deal!

You Whites are too busy tryna dig up dirt on us but completely overlook your own dirt. Which is a steaming pile of horse shit.

Lovie,
In light of the released 911 tapes can you now see that the neighbor was truly trying to do a good service for her neighbor (Mr. Gates) and that the police officer acted in a very professional manner? President Obama should have never commented on the situation especially with the paucity of facts. Not to mention that he is a lawyer and should know better.
President Obama practiced racial profiling against a white police officer and should apologize.
TomSnakebite 2 years ago
In light of the 911 tapes it answers my question of did she not what the neighbor looked like, and the answer is she is not a neighbor, she just worked in the neighborhood. Secondly, it shows that the police report is full of lies, he said he talked to the woman and that she told him that it was two black men, and the lady never talked to the officer, so who's lying now, yep the officer, just as I thought all along.
lovie2000 2 years ago
Lovie,
Not only are you misinformed about the incident, but you are also misinformed about police protocol. The police officer's summary of the incident is accurate. Unfortunately your response shows that you not only have a prejudice against white people but also a prejudice against the police.
How do you explain the fact that black and hispanic police officers stand by officer Crowley? All of whom are...WERE... Obama supporters.
Gates and Obama are the racists here...and you.
Peace out.
TomSnakebite 2 years ago
No I am not misinformed, nor am I racist, nor have I displayed a prejudice towrds police, my cousin is a sheriff and he is a white man. And the officers report is not accurate he did not talk to that lady at the scene, she did not tell anyone that it was 2 black men, but he put it in the report that he talked to her and she this, when this did not happenjust that part alone makes the report not true, nor accurate. And listen to the recording of him reporting to the station........))))))))))))<

Exactly what did Obama or Gates do that was racist?
lovie2000 2 years ago
Professor Gates yelled racial ephitets at officer Crowley. He pre-judged the officer's motives for no reason other than his skin color.
President Obama maligned the officer and took the side of his friend, which is both racism and cronyism, before he knew the facts of the case. The President also ASSUMED what the officer's motives were based on past prejudices.
And you, Lovie, have yet to explain the fact that ALL of the police officers - white, black and latinos - stand by officer Crowley.
TomSnakebite 2 years ago
Pres."Obama maligned the officer and took the side of his friend, which is both racism and cronyism," he didn't take the side of his friend, he stated that they both overeacted, but like everyone else, all you and the other people heard was "they acted stupidly" which doesn't mean they are stupid.
As for the other officers, they all stand by each other whether they are wrong are right and they were not inside the house with crowley, they only know what they saw when he got him to come outside
lovie2000 2 years ago
Lovie,
Your ignorance and prejudice has shown through.
TomSnakebite 2 years ago
Gates was arrested, and rightfully so, for disorderly conduct when he insisted on following the officer outside and continuing to yell racial ephitets at the officer and even make childish comments regarding the officer's mother
TomSnakebite 2 years ago
Now I must say that you are the one that is misinformed,
He did not insist on following the officer outside.
Crowley kept demanding Gates to come outside, Gates refused and after Crowley kept pressing him to go outside, that is when Gates started to get more upset, and made the remark about his mother.. And once he got him outside that is when he arrested him, for disorderly conduct in a public setting.
As for me u can call me what you want, but it doesn't make it true.
lovie2000 2 years ago
Wrong again Lovie.
TomSnakebite 2 years ago
No I am not wrong, Crowley said in an interview and in his police report that he asked Gates to come outside.
Gates did not follow him, he was asked by Crowley more than once to come outside.
lovie2000 2 years ago
So, Obama stating that they both overreacted and the officer acted stupidly in arresting Gates in his own home, is not racist, yes he may have displayed cronyism by partially favoring Gates, but racist, no. And I didn't hear anything in his answer to LYNN, that showed he assumed the officer was prejudice or racist. he simply stated that, the arrest was taken as racial profiling by some, once the media got whole of it. I listened to the whole press conference live, not a replay of a snippet

They automatically assumed the WHITE cop was racist. Perhaps not a racist act, but not too far away from being one.

& note that of approx. 15 police cars outside Mr. Gates home, approx. 10 were CAMPUS po-po --from the very campus where he is a Professor. THEY didn't know??
Yet another of those obvious situations where people like crowley & his klan will escape penalty & likely be rewarded.
Each time he brings up things like him being in charge of "sensitivity training" in the past, & calling on his "black" affiliates 4confirmation,
it sounds an awful lot like
"I'm not a racist. I have black friends" smh,lmAo

hawtchiq, you have no point because, the proffessor showed his id to the cops before he was handcuffed but, he still got arrested. this has nothing to do with the neighbors calling the cops that was actually a good thing they have done. we are talking about the cops arresting a man in his own house when he showed them the proper documents stating that it was his house.

I agree with a neighbor doing a good deed and doing the neighborhood watch thing, but come on, do they not know what their neighbor looks like.

the proffessor's lawyer said he showed the cops his id, and other credentials to prove it was his house before getting put in handcuffs, why did he still get arrested? if that was a white person who broke into thier house, and the cops showed up the incident would have went very different even if the white person lost thier cool.

MariaFeliza3 2 years ago
the transcript for the Judge Cofield - Officer Washington exchange is easily searchable on the internet. and is titled "an example of black on black racism" from blackchristiannews (dot) com. and anonymous blogger posted "this woman is crazy as hell. but this is the problem with black people. we don't respect each other. so why should the white people respect us"
MariaFeliza3 2 years ago
I just bet thaT blackchristiannews(dot)com is not really a put up job by the Christian Far right wing of the Republican Party, disguising their disgust for Black Professional persons of all genders with equal responsibility for the RAGE they INTEND to create this year as they divide Blacks and Whites and attempt to Conquer the White House, a job they failed so miserably at LAST Summer that I was able to get some needed sleep on Election Night, November 4, after working hard for Obama since 2004.
MARKETEX 2 years ago
To reiterate: Obama and Gates must apologize, because they are MEN, and that is the MANLY thing to do, regardless or race, profession, stature, etc.
2nd lesson: don't provoke a cop. Whether they are right or wrong, they can fuck with you, they will fuck with you, they are underpaid, underappreciated and under a lot of stress, and they will right a report and make you look guilty. Are the charges going to stick? Hell no! But now you got a public mugshot and embarassment. That's your punishment
MariaFeliza3 2 years ago
I don't understand your comment. they should apologize because the constitution does not apply when the police decide it does not? he was arrested for talking in his own home, I thought this was protected by the 1st amendment. the disorderly conduct charge was a joke!
carhac66 2 years ago
So, since Judge Cofield is Black and Obama is Black and Gates is Black they somehow should be FORCED to KNEEL to you and APOLOGIZE for the fact of your BRUTAL treatment of them just as in the days when failure to do so meant the death of a Slave?
I suggest you should maybe buy a calendar from THIS century.
Now, I sell a great one, and its called PowerCal, a computer program I wrote from 1989-1996 when it was copyrighted,
Maybe if you purchased ANYTHING from ANY Black person's manufacture.....
MARKETEX 2 years ago
Cofield wronged another black person. Obama is 1/2 white. His father is an African immigrant (a descendant of American slavery he is not). A white neighbor & a white officer were trying to protect a black man's property. So what point are you trying to make by saying "forced to kneel," "brutal treatment," & "death of a slave?"
By Gates own words (admission), his door was jammed and he was trying to force it open (easily mistaken for an attempted break in)
To MariaFeliza3: I see your point

Hawtchiq, this part (A white neighbor & a white officer were trying to protect a black man's property.) of your comment makes absolutely no sense. You say they were trying to protect a Black mans property, but she called the police on the Black man that owns the property, he is their neighbor. If she was trying to protect the black mans property, don't you think she should have recognized the owner when she was looking at him forcing his own door open with his luggage visible.

AidanNagolxxx 2 years ago
He identified himself as the proper occupant of the house, which he rents, and he was accompanied by a liveried chauffeur and bags just unloaded from a Limo with the Limo still present and you want HIM to apologize?
Apparently you have never taken an exhausting trip out of town on business or otherwise and returned home with little patience left for a cop who wants to harrass and arrest you in your own living room.
Not identifying with this situation marks you as xenophobic.
MARKETEX 2 years ago
xenophobic?, I don't think so.
AidanNagolxxx 2 years ago
......that's the same thing they said of Rodney King when he wouldn't meekly submit to the beating or subject himself to same by lying quietly dead while being killed.
MARKETEX 2 years ago
He was only beaten because he wouldn't submit to being arrested. They would of done the same if Rodney King was white. I don't think they had tazers back then, if they had it would of prevented a riot.
AidanNagolxxx 2 years ago
Aidan, they told about the Chauffeur in the news on the first release of the incident.
But when they found out that it was indeed his home, instead of adding fuel to the fire, they should have said "sorry for the misunderstanding Mr. Gates have a nice day"
When a person is already agitated (we don't know what this man had already experience prior to this incident) treating him like a criminal in his own house, doesn't calm him down
lovie2000 2 years ago
This incident is only about race because Gates has made it out to be. I'm sure the officer would of apologised and left after finally getting him to show some I.D but Gates was loud and abusive. He is a professor of "African American Studies", so it sounds like he has a huge chip on his shoulder when it comes to white police officers. If it was a real break and enter happening I'm sure he would of been very happy for this same police officer to arrive.
AidanNagolxxx 2 years ago
Marketex, not to mention, why did the neighbor call the police should be question #1, do they not know what their neighbor looks like, which I am sure they do.
lovie2000 2 years ago
I think that subject matter is adequately covered in the movie "Amos and Andrew".....since this incident very closely replicates the plot details in that movie.
Whether they knew what their neighbor actually looked like or not ( or whether they LIKE the way their neighbor looks like) a guy unpacking luggage from a Limo is hardly the first guy I would suspect of being a burglar.
MARKETEX 2 years ago
i don't know what my neighbors look like, i live in a complex with many neighbors. Not all neighbors HAVE to know what the other looks like, nor do they have to be the typical neighbors we see in tv shows where they all get along and have barbecues, etc.
Minyadagniriel 2 years ago
Well, this isn't an apartment complex, it is house in a suburban area, with a Black man living in it next to a white woman. She knows what he looks like and if she didn't she should have.
Now the complex thing, if you have a person living directly across or beside you, coming in and out everday, u will eventually see them, there is no way u can say that if you walked out your door and saw them forcing the door because its stuck that u wouldn't know they live there, don't forget, with luggage
lovie2000 2 years ago
i disagree, you don't have to know and how would we know to begin with if the lady knew what he looked like. Personally if someone thought a person was breaking into my house, I'll love them for sending a cop to my home to check on me.
Minyadagniriel 2 years ago
........and you can't FORCE anyone to "APOLOGISE" since the word is spelled "A-P-O-L-O-G-I-Z-E" (proving once again that you are so fearful that you avoid the letter "z" thinking that it initiates the word "xenophobic"!
And just how would you manage the process of "force" required by you to bring about any apology, since apologies are, by their very nature VOLUNTARY?
MARKETEX 2 years ago

AidanNagolxxx 2 years ago
Apologize is the American spelling! This may come as a shock to you but other countries do use YouTube as well.
The rest of the English speaking world spells it as A-P-O-L-O-G-I-S-E.
AidanNagolxxx 2 years ago
I thought you would get stuck on the spelling portion of the comment totally avoiding the real concept you have of trying to force anyone to do anything including apologize (the American Spelling about an incident in America, where you wish to force the President of the United States of America or Professor Gates to totally forget the Constitution of the United States of America as they yeild to the force of some person like you who thinks they can be forced to do what is a voluntary act.)

Now which is it, he didn't show his ID, he did show his ID.
The CPD said he showed his ID, but they arrested him for disorderly conduct (he was raising hell, for how they were speaking/treating him)
And Obama is dealing with a stressful and dangerous job everday as well.
What should be said about this situation is the fact that the reporter should have never asked him that question.
Why do we as people continue to let these reporters get away with starting the fire.
lovie2000 2 years ago

AidanNagolxxx 2 years ago
Firstly, Affirmative Action and Racial Profiling the way it was used in this situation, do not qualify as being the same! One is used to try to end a horrible situation in the US (TO SOME EXTENT) and the other keeps a horrible situation going! Secondly, who said I support Affirmative Action? ...LOL! For my undergraduate studies I was on full scholarship because of my intelligence not Affirmative Action! I was Valedictorian of my class with a 1550, out of 1600 at the time, SAT score!
EASings 2 years ago
All the schools I got a full scholarship from, and most of them were Ivy League, was because of my hard work and determination not because of Affirmative Action! I didn't even check the box to let them know my race! I also received a full school to all of my choices for graduate school! So, before you bring up Affirmative Action, which was never mentioned in my argument, know the facts! And BTW...you don't owe me an apology for that!
EASings 2 years ago
Thats right! I don't owe you an apology. And I only mentioned affirmative action because you mentioned profiling. AidanNagolxxx 2 years ago
