My childhood Hockey Hero and he's back! WOOOHOOO! This video makes me miss the Old Cap Centre, games there were great! Especially with Hunter and Iafrate on the ice! GO CAPS!
LOL i know its kinda old but and its playoff OT but damn, they didnt call that hook in the beginning? lmao thats like as much as you can possibly hook.
Dale screwed Caps for last 23 years when he used word "chokers" because that is exactly what they would return to being in very next round losing to NJ in Game 7 on home ice. Future HoFers soon departed (Murphy and Gartner a year later, Stevens in 1990, Langway in 1993). Peeters also left in 1989. Stevens and Murphy won several Cups in NJ, Pitt, and Detroit (eliminating Caps in playoffs many times). Only Hunter, Pivonka, and Miller would remain to be swept in 1998 Final by Wings. Cruel fate.
@industrialsun The Caps have only twice gotten past the second round in their franchise history and I don't expect their luck to change this season either.Never has a Stanley Cup contender been such an underdog quite like the Capitals.
@CharmCityDefense92 Yep, Smokin Al did color commentary. Mike Fornes was the play by play guy. I wish Fornes was still here in Washington- "A shot...AND A GOAL!" was signature line.
nice goal prettie good

Caps gave Quebec 1st pick in draft to get Hunter in 1987. That pick would be Joe Sakic. Yikes!

@danshee- I would put it second behind the 98 game 6 winner that has given them their only conference title.

Quite the defense Hatcher, Langway, Murphy and Stevens...you would be hard pressed to fined a better top 4 in NHL history

@RoyalsKingdomRadio It's the same size as every other ice surface today..200'x85'. It was dark though, and I won't miss it either.

I was there at the game. The camera which captured that shot was right behind my head.

Without a doubt, the greatest goal in Caps history - and the much maligned (by Caps fans) Larry Murphy set it up
Not surprisingly, Mike Gartner hit the crossbar on a 3 on 1 earlier in OT
