i looked into kurt's method of writing lyrics long ago when i tried to make meanings of his songs. i think this is one of the most unique ways of making a song. what he would do is take bits and pieces of poems and put them together. i can't find any other artist who takes the same approach.

For the Come As You Are video, he had his face blurred out throughout the entire video because the lyrics made him feel like a hypocrite and a fake. He left Smells Like Teen Spirit off Unplugged, and only did Come as You Are because he couldnt exclude his 2 biggest hits.

i looked into kurt's method of writing lyrics long ago when i tried to make meanings of his songs. i think this is one of the most unique ways of making a song. what he would do is take bits and pieces of poems and put them together. i can't find any other artist who takes the same approach.

He didn't want to do it , got shit-faced drunk the day of the shoot, and almost walked off set a couple of times. For the Come As You Are video, he had his face blurred out throughout the entire video because the lyrics made him feel like a hypocrite and a fake. He left Smells Like Teen Spirit off Unplugged, and only did Come as You Are because he couldnt exclude his 2 biggest hits.

it is not a 'terribly put together story', its the fucking truth, and if you were older than 14 you'd have learned to tell fact from fiction without some 'authority' or some publisher having to hold your hand. Read the material, the guy is being as straightforward and decent as possible, and a bunch of immature unbalanced losers are flipping out on him because they assume he's lying about a dead man. Its fucking ridiculous. He has nothing to gain from lying. He is telling the truth.

So you dont believe wikipedia or the liner notes of the Nirvana albums themselves, you believe some story posted on the net.... got it..
however that isn't proof of anything, and unless that guy has some original writings at the time, there is no way to prove those are his lyrics (by carbon dating I mean)

the guys story pans out as authentic, and if he can prove Cobain was in Banff that night, he has a pretty complete and convincing story in my opinion. How can people call Cobain a genius, when he was stupid enough to marry Courtney Love> he was no genius. He didn't write the lyrics to his two biggest hits either.

the guy is still trying to find proof. he has been emailing people who played the Calgary gig with Cobain as roadie to try to get more information, etc. What he HAS posted is very thorough and plausible. Read the thread, and you will see what sort of idol-worshipping idiots it draws out of the woodwork.

There are people who literally worship the image of Cobain as some sort of savior figure and get so FURIOUS at the thought that he lied about his two biggest songs, because their Cobain poster never ages, never says anything to disparage itself, never fucks up, so they consider their Cobain poster to be god. Its fucking ridiculous. Cobain did not write the lyrics to those songs and hated them for the same reason. Fans almost shit their pants before even finishing the first paragraph. Wake up.

Cobain did not write the lyrics to Smells Like Teen Spirit or to Come As You Are. The real writer has come forward.

Cobain hated both those songs, parodied them, and left both songs off the DVD 'Live Tonight Sold Out!' because he considered himself a sellout for having recorded stuff he didn't write.

don't be disappointed, Cobain had the class to appreciate good lyrics, record them, tour, and make something great out of something that would never have gone anywhere without him.
He didn't tell the truth about the lyrics , but he also hated getting too much credit and tried to do everything he could to tone it down. He was a victim of marketing hype that he didn't like. He was a great musician.

@synthetickat: People have said Kurt wrote spontaneously, for instance that he wrote "Dumb" in 5 minutes. But he may have been thinking about lyrics, we don't really know.

every thing that I read could have been taken directly from cobain/nirvana biography's...
no one witnessed him writing this poem, he's to shy to show himself, and it turns out to be the biggest coincidence of all time that his poem turns out to be the biggest song of the 90's
