Start reading at page 1081, and see why Stephen King is one sick man that should be run out of town. It's funny how everyone over looks what really happens here! They're kids Stephen! You PEDOPHILE!
i am getting this book and i wanted to know if it was good my mom sold my dads copy and you made it sound very intresting and now i cant wait to get it now i personally love stephen kings writing
@HomeSlice3601 I'm glad you're willing to give the book a shot. Really hope you enjoy it. You could find copies in paperback for less than ten dollars at most book stores. Let me know what you thought of it when you finish it.
@racheybaby99 Most people confuse the movie with the television series that was later released in home video. :) An official motion picture hasn't been made yet.
@RullyisJRM there are indeed official It films, one for when they're young and one for when they're adults. I've seen them both and i assure you they're real.
@zulok1337 I think you're getting the film adaption confused with the tv mini-series which was later released on DVD. There hasn't been a theatrical adaption of IT as of yet. This is a fact.
brilliant review man ive finished this book twice and agree IT is a masterpeice in every way and pennywise is such an intriuging enemy tenfold in how he is mentioned/referened in other king novals.
@evernight4ever Holy crap. Lol. I've read a book that quick before, but never one near the size of IT. Reading 1000+ pages in 2 days is very impressive.
@bjs1300 I was going to say I'm not sure but I'll try, however I just found the spoiler review I wrote like, a year ago! Haha. So yes, all I have to do is do a voice recording and find a few images and slap it together. It should be up by the end of the week at the latest.
@M0VIES4U2 Lol. Sorry 'bout that. I never ended up doing one. Honestly, I didn't even think people cared. But if people want me to, I'll go ahead and make one soon. I haven't done any Youtube videos for a looong time, but I plan to get to it soon.
@IsaacNolan I have not read it yet. In fact, I can't seem to find it! Lol. I'd love to read it. I've seen the film though and loved it (but it's definitely more of an 'art film' than a piece of entertainment). However, I've heard the movie is very different from the book (perhaps one of the reasons Stephen King doesn't like the film adaption). There are some Steven King books I found hard to get into (The Talisman is one that pops into my mind -- haven't finished it).
Have seen bits of the movie with Tim Curry here and there but after watching this would much prefer to read the book before I finish it..... Good review :)
The only thing that I am not a fan of is that the text is so tiny :/ I just finished Pet Sematary and it was amazing. I love all of his books. It's not necessarily the stories or the characters but its his sense of being close to you throughout each and every one of his novels. He doesn't hold back and he's not afraid to say what he means. That's what I love.
@TrollingTNT I totally should have mentioned the tiny text! Lol. I definitely noticed that as well. And I LOOOVED Pet Sematary -- definitely one of my favorite King novels. I want to read it again and hopefully get a review of it up soon. I've been wanting to post more reviews, but I just get too lazy and procrastinate, lol. I think I'll do one after posting one for Salem's Lot. Thanks for your comment.
@RullyisJRM I'm putting down IT because I'm just not feeling it right now. haha! I'm gonna start reading Misery though. I've seen the movie and loved it but I heard that the book is way more graphic. Or I'll start the Dark Tower. Hmm.
@theotherstevo That's unfortunate that you feel that way. Everyone I know that has read it loved it. Perhaps it's just not your type of book. I can't tell you to continue or not as I don't know much about your reading habits and such. But if a book doesn't grab me once I'm at least 100 pgs in, I usually put it aside and try again next time when I want to give it another shot.
Thinking of facing my fears and reading the book. Saw part of the movie when I was a kid and it terrified me for years. Now that I'm 21, I'm thinking of giving the book a try.
excellent book...this book brought out so many emotions.I saw the tv movie before the I read the book. The book really brought me back to childhood and wishing I had friends like the characters in the book....
The sex scene is just stupid. It's not a spoiler since you mentioned sex scenes in King's novels. Well...the one particular sex scene in this book is so silly and adds nothing to the story. If I recall, there's two sex scenes, and one was okay and understandable, the other is blah blah what's the point? Was this yet another creation by King while he was under the influence? LOL! And the ending...when it attempted to explain where IT came from...was worse. Probably Dark Tower inspired, for sure.
@NbaTheGreatest It depends on what scares you and whether or not reading scares you. It's definitely a thrill to read, but I don't think it'll give you nightmares. Lol. It's an intense book, though.
@RullyisJRM king is a great write so if this is your first king book and you aren't used to his style i think you should go for something else like read different seasons or cujo well cujo is pretty weird to, but go for another stephen king book then go for this one
Damn good job man, you've got a talent for reviewing books, I just bought the Dark Tower series boxset and Under the Dome, neither of which I've started yet but after this review I've got to pick up IT.
I'd love to read The Dark Tower books! It's my understanding that there's numerous connections with many of Stephen King's novels and short stories, so I want to read as many of the novels as I can before I jump into The Dark Tower series. I definitely want to finish that series before Ron Howard's 3-part movie/3-season television series adaption. I've read Under the Dome; I wasn't as impressed with that book, but it's still enjoyable & interesting
@ohdezflores Word is it's supposed to release this year. I'm not so sure now however, being that casting hasn't even been done or anything. As far as I know, the script was still being written a few months ago. Hopefully it'll release this year, but now I'm thinking we'll be seeing it in 2012.
This is a very good review of what is my favourite book. The TV show was little more than a comedy. How anyone got scared by it is a miracle (although they do have a right to their own opinions). There's a good reason for the disconnect with Stan (as is implied here). I guess I'm reviewing the review here, so I'll finish with a question. King appears to be more famous for things like the Shawshank Redemption (which was a great story), but this should really be regarded as his signature work
@jeffhegarty Thanks for your comment. I'd love to know your thoughts on why there's a disconnect with Stan. The role he plays is pretty influential, yet I couldn't feel his character like the others. Glad you love the book.
. I'm glad you like "IT". I read the book well over ten years ago, I didnt find it scarey at all but I did find it an amazing and superb read. The characters were so real to me.
I found myself feeling slightly jealous of the friendship of the "Losers" Some of it was explicit but all the better for it. Very good review and I agree, its a "must read"
@Ianstrox Lol. Yeah, I apologize for that. I didn't even realize until I uploaded it. Doesn't help that some parts were suddenly cut out. Oh well, live and learn, lol.
Finished reading the book 2 days ago and it was definately worth reading and one of the best novels i've ever read. It's a 1000+ pages and because of that some might not go near it, but Stephen King definately likes to build intensity and that's why it's so long.
IT is for sure gonna be a movie last I heard. Bag of Bones has been going back and forth from movie to TV series. Not sure where it's gonna end up, but that's my personal favorite book so I'd love to see a theatrical release. :)
Lol. I haven't read The Stand but I will before I begin reading Dark Tower III: The Wastelands, which hopefully won't be too far off. I'm currently reading The Talisman. :)
