Instead of just naming the song after a girl (like most artists undoubtedly would), the band adds its own twist, as they always do. This is what makes the Decemberists the unique band they are.

As far as the sotry line for the video goes,the directors cut gives you the full version-basically he confides in the one guy and asks him for help so that he can escape town with the boss' daughter. The guy instead betrays him, leading the boss' daughter to be killed by the boss-turns out she was using collin's character and was only interested in stealing money from her father. In the end,both collin and the man who betrayed him die as well

I'm afraid the American indie scene doesn't even compare to its Brittish counterpart. The Apples in Stereo, Grandaddy, the Decemberists, they all fit the profile, yes. But Oasis and Stellastarr and Interpol did this ten to fifteen years ago. Still, it's a good effort. I like the Decemberists. An indie rock fan from Greece.

Plus, this is 2008, remember? So yes, they've all been around for ten years or more (and I don't care what Wikipedia says). AAAaaanyway, this type of "folk" indie is not my favorite. Interpol, the Editors, the Bravery, now that's better!
