Hey ModGod, love your videos. I'm thinking about making some changes to my PC rig as well, but I few questions.
What type of wire do you use to add extensions to the fans? What is your method of connecting the 2 wires together? And will extending the wires that connect to your motherboard decrease the voltage it receives significantly?
@EliteUnion I gave it on good authority that CyberDruid uses strands of hair from his ass to extend fan leads. I am pretty sure he tears little strips of tinfoil from his hat and wraps those around the extensions to connect them. His ass hair actually increases the voltage so it might be a good idea to put a resistor inline to avoid burning up the fans if you use CyberDruid Ass Hair on your extensions.
Or you could twist two wires the same gauge together and slip some heat shrink over it..
@TheDruidAbides I was asking what type of wire he used because I'd recently spliced around a psu to make it an accessible dc source. When I was splicing its wire I noticed that they didn't look like copper. Since the accuracy of my outputs wasn't a big concern I twisted them around a thin piece of copper wire, and dabbed a little solder onto the connection, then put heat shrink over it. I made an electromagnet using the same spool of wire, i tested the resistance, it was 12 Ohms.
@SaTiRCaL Simple answer is yes...but think about it for a minute. An SSD is about 1/4 the size of an HDD and needs no cooling. So why would you need to mount it like an HDD?
I talked with the client about how he wanted to arrange the parts it will stack like this top to bottom: Res, Space, Optical, HDD Caddy, Space, HDD Caddy
The spaces will allow for underlighting the 3-bay waterfall reservoir and for routing the HDD cabling.
loooooking goooood! 5Starz Quit posting so many vids so fast, I need to go work on my own build, but everytime I look up you have another post. your 4min vids causes me to sit in front of my computer for a least 1hr each time. LOL
Thanks guys. You gotta drill holes one way or the other and this way I preserve the exisitng formed threads in the caddy. Plus it's what the client wants so that's what I do...mostly ;)
tjharlow has flipped just the HD's on the 1200 on several builds. If you flip the whole rack , which I don't think will work anyway, the fan would then be intaking hot air from the inside of the case and blowing it over the HDD's.
O yeah you are rite lol I did not really think that through.. I thought I saw TJ do that but now that you say it.. it all makes sense thanks.. anyway, CD this is awesome

Only 3 HDDs going in the build

It looks like the the cables running through the side panel will block the next fan/HDD cage from being placed properly in the
case. Otherwise cool mod.

Dont forget about antec 902. :P Looks good CD, will the other drives crush the cables?
SeanDIDK 2 years ago
nope because I am leaving one space between the HDD caddies
