  • Mission Accomplished.

  • iM SORRY BUT THIS IS INCREDIBLY SMALL SCALE COMPARED TO COMMON PRACTICE.

  • what are these creatures? tuna comes in a can

  • And this is why soon, there will be no more tuna to eat or even in the sea..

  • Interesting. But isn't that fishing them too much?

  • Why is National Geographic glorifying the eradication or a near-extinct species? This is really disappointing.

  • Wow. Tuna may be delicious, but this is such an unfair way to catch them. Certain ways of fishing should be illegal.

  • I love tuna

  • MISION ACOMPLISHED? what is your mision to destroy bluefin tune species??

  • ummm ... all day !!! u tree huggers

  • These guys are just continuing their fishing tradition. Nothing wrong with that! Its the illegal Japanese tuna vessels that are really killing the species....

  • What if you see Will Ferrel swimmin In there.

  • Fisheries are collasping worldwide and blue fin tuna is critically endangered. why humans have to exploit their survival chance without any sympathy?

  • alot of protein, i eat to gain muscles :) gr8 food

  • Critically Endangered fish

  • They're are PLENTY of Tuna left, we just Overfish them, thats why I respect the old Native Americans, they took only what they needed from the enviornment to survive and nothing more.......we should learn from that.

  • Tuna is delicious!!!

  • Fucken trek

  • Tuna vs Lion Tuna wins that battle, Tuna wins that battle 9 outta 10 times.

  • @Oroorel lmfao i love this movie

  • Bluefin Tuna are critically endangered under the IUCN red list. It's shameful that National Geographic is portraying this as anything other than a tragedy.

  • italians were not so brave on the battlefield in ww2........

  • im eating tuna right now...

  • If God didn't want us to eat blue-fin tuna he shouldn't have made them sooooo YUMMY!!!!

  • tuna are endangered? what??!! You ignorant slob..lol Get a clue and an education before you make proclamations about something. dumbass;)

  • depends the kind of tuna. some spieces are endengered some other they are abundant like the flies. the problem is that there's not a way to seperate the spieces of tuna while catch them. btw impressive fishing technique that i had never seen before.

  • @kewlJaz234 Me too. (:

  • i f*cking LOVE tuna! lol

  • next person to go fishings gonna get dragged underwater until they feel the same amount of drastically large amounts of pain as it feels to half way close ur eyes and have an extremely good feeling taste in ur mouth to the taste of blood which is the same amount of pain as you inflict onto a fish while fishing since you kill the fish yes youll die also

  • i dont know why people are upset its not like they do this every day besides the Japanese do it worse by dragging poor dolphins across the land cause they believe it tenderizes the meat

  • I FEEL SOOO BAD FOR THE TUNA. /watch?v=rAhAOAZgcwU

  • @NamuTheOrca Not threatened.. Just in suicidal-thought-inducing agony. They're very abundant. :) No threat.

  • awesome

  • im eating tuna... right now

  • Tuna is f*cking instincting because of this?!?!?!?!

  • i didnt climb to the top of the food chain to eat carrots...

  • @samscreed Best comment ever.

  • All that tuna was then sold for £20

  • Stop fish them, they are endangared

  • haha I'll stick to my 110foot longliner...

  • This is ridiculous.... commercial tuna fishing in the USA is a max 3 fish over 73 inches per boat per day and these sand nigs can catch all of the fish that we have to release and sell them and pay their deck hands practically nothing. Its so stupid that the world cant come to some standard to protect this resource which has been somewhat renewable up to this point. There needs to be a stop put to this. This is third world in many ways

  • ‎"OK, first off: a lion, swimming in the ocean. Lions don't like water. If you placed it near a river or some sort of fresh water source, that makes sense. But you find yourself in the ocean, 20 foot wave, I'm assuming off the coast of South Africa, coming up against a full-grown, 800-pound tuna with his 20 or 30 friends, you lose that battle, you lose that battle nine times out of 10."

  • @opodee1 We don't have lions in any coastal areas around South Africa. 'Southern Africa', yes, but those would be further up along the east and west coasts. Check wikipedia for a distribution map. Anyway, I don't get what you were getting at at all D:

  • DON'T LIKE !!!!!!!!!

  • Never understand why people think fish don't have a chance to reproduce. They have been fishing tuna in these very same waters in the same way for thousands of years. And just like with any animal, if these tuna were so endangered you wouldn't even have the opportunity to watch this video because thw tuna would be protected and these fishermen would be breaking the law.

  • In order to be "healthy" you must eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, and meats and dairy are optional. If you only eat lettuce your whole life, you wont b healthy, if you only eat met you wont be healthy. The key is VARIETY. eat fast food one night, chicken caeser salad the next, salmon after that, ratatouille, egg omlet etc... Environmentally and ecologically, eating some meats is bad, such as buefin tuna, or maybe some people just dont like the morale of killing things for meat.

  • After they catch all the tuna, Vocaloid Luka steals all of it and eats it for the next 5 months.

  • 'The men are exhausted'

Yes, and the Tuna are bleeding, suffering, dying or already dead. And critically threatened too.

  • @NamuTheOrca hey! we are top of the food chain either run(swim in this case) or get eaten by us!

  • @litojonny never to the point of extinction.

  • @litojonny A person can't physically compete with a bear or a lion, but with some simple tools we are capable of killing almost any animal on the planet. So it indeed is true that we have great power but with it comes great responsibility. Killing a few animals to feed ourself is one thing, though when we add industry to the mix and also pollute or break down the homes of the animals we don't eat, the result can possibly be disastrous. And I'd love to hear how a tuna could swim away while caught

  • @NamuTheOrca There's a big difference between a small fishing town that essentially has one such haul for their entire season versus an industry that goes out to sea to trawl vast quantities of the fish. These men aren't responsible for the fish being critically endangered, and I'm sure that if they had their way, the major companies trawling the fish wouldn't be allowed to do so, as those very same companies damage these men's livelihood. Ignorance is bliss, and makes you look stupid.

  • @SibSpi Indeed, there is, and I was in no way suggesting that it was their fault the Tuna were endangered, The onyl thing I was pointing out was how the voice over was feeling for the men who simply had to work hard, while not paying attention to the Tuna that were dying and suffering. On top of that comes the fact they are endangered and even though these fishermen didn't cause that, they could still take responsibility.

  • @NamuTheOrca They shouldn't have to take responsibility since, with their 'historical' method of fishing these tuna, they were likely making virtually no impact on the population. These tuna may also be 'suffering', but in what way would you propose these men catch the tuna instead? Worse, what of the fact that these tuna are carnivorous predators that will often only manage to bite a part off of their prey during their first attack? What of the suffering of the tuna's food? Nature is violent.

  • @SibSpi You need to chill out mate. Don' take everything soooo seriously.

  • @pennthebaker I don't think so. When people go around spreading their biased, false opinions based on 'facts' borne of nothing but stupidity, those people manage to influence other, equally stupid people, and before long you have a whole bunch of stupid people believing the same crap, trying to shove it down the throats of people that know better. Numa may not be one such stupid person, but they still believe people who were not originally to blame for something should now take blame

  • @SibSpi where these men are simply doing what they've been doing for longer than electricity has existed, for longer than the motorized trawler has existed, for longer than ships large enough and equipped well enough to go out and trawl the quantities that would be necessary to endanger these fish, have existed. They are doing what they'd always done, which never made such an impact on Tune populations as to cause them to decline, and now they 'must take responsibility'? That's selfish bullshit.

  • @SibSpi Woah easy tiger. Chill out. We're gonna run out of fish soon anyway whoever's to blame and unless everyone stops eating eat then there's nothing we can do about it. Oh and your comparison between our inhumanity towards tuna and the suffering of tunas prey is ridiculous at best. It's the equivelent of an omnivore trying to be clever to a vegetarian and saying..... Well what about the plants feelings, they're living things too. We don't hunt as nature intended any more.

  • @pennthebaker You're right, I'm sorry, I should have taken the time to consider that we don't go about trying to bludgeon animals to death with blunt instruments because nobody fashioned a spear to stab them with repeatedly in non-vital areas. I also forgot we don't use fell-traps that we simply check for an animal with broken bones, bleeding to death at the bottom of a pit anymore. I also forgot we don't (except for 'sports huntsmen') use bows to shoot animals in non-vital areas anymore.

  • @SibSpi We may not hunt animals the way we used to anymore, but have you taken into consideration the implications of trying to kill dozens, when not hundreds of tuna at once in as 'humane' a fashion as possible so that they shouldn't suffer? Just imagine all the wasted resources that would go into every spear-gun that needs to be fired to do so, all the extra, wasted human energy that would need to be replenished by eating even more.

  • @SibSpi Tuna are almost exclusively not farmed because they don't grow past a certain age in captivity yet; if tuna farms could be successful I'm sure there'd a) a reduced issue with regards to their extinction and b) they could be killed in a far more 'humane' fashion to please those that can't deal with the fact that some animals kill other animals in order to eat them. Nature's a bitch; if you don't like how Nature works, then go complain to it, not to other animals.

  • @SibSpi What? That sounds like you're agreeing with me but don't realise you're doing it. I'm saying the way we as humans go about things is inhumane. You can't say that a tuna is inhumane for the way it attacks its prey because it's doing it out of necessity, we do it violently, without remorse and on an epic scale due to greed.

  • @pennthebaker Then I may have misunderstood you; in the context with which I was addressing Orca I was disagreeing with their sentiment that humans are 'catching' these tuna in an inhumane (read: barbaric/savage) manner, and it sounded to me like you were agreeing with them and that you don't like the way humans do it, specifically when you referred to my analogy of how many species of tuna catch their own prey.

  • @NamuTheOrca Well they are guna die. Were guna eat them haha

  • Comment removed

  • @NamuTheOrca i donot care

  • @carpfisherman25 then stfu

  • @kur0za fuckyou . earth bitch

  • @carpfisherman25 u mad bro? lol

  • some people are very ignorant not knowing that a bluefin tuna is nearly endengered and could face extinction soon if we don't take actions

    stupid homo sapiens

  • @tennis89insomniac I enjoy fishing

  • @tennis89insomniac We don't meet bluefin tuna on the street everyday so we wont miss it.

  • @tennis89insomniac

True, although it's actually very endangered, not nearly endangered.

  • @tennis89insomniac yes you really seem very stupid.

  • TUNA

  • FUCKING ADVERTISEMENT

  • this is pointless iv seen boats with automatic crains that pick up the nets

  • Those are only juvenile, the mature weight above 500lbs...very sad they kill the young one and fish can't be able to reproduce fast enough to recover

  • Tuna is actually one of the worse fish to eat due to accumulating toxin in its system. Sort of like alcohol, poison taste good :)

  • Veg*ns don't "just eat grass" -- largely because humans aren't ruminants and can't digest grass. We do eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, etc. If you eat a variety of foods, you can be healthy as a veg*n.

I've never claimed that meat is unhealthy; I don't know why you even brought that up. Likewise, I've made no claims about preparing meat -- I don't know why you're obsessed with it.

Could you provide a citation for your EUPHA claim?

And again, stop with the personal slurs.

  • man this is sad.... there's no way they are doing this in a way that allows the fish to reproduce

  • Stupid fish, all theyve gota do is swim down

  • a lion going up against a full grown 800 pound tuna with his 20 or 30 friends.. you lose that battle...you lose that battle 9 times outta 10

  • @eggsdabomb I just watched "The Other Guys" earlier today. Crazy I saw this comment...

  • this is a shit way to fish, its coz of fuckwits like this that there are less fish for everyone else to catch

  • who would have thought tunas would be so interesting.? 60 mph dats pretty impressive

  • I FUCKING LOVE TUNAS

  • thats why theres no more fucking tuna

  • Fantastico! grande la Sardegna grandi i Sardi!!!!

  • THIS is how large scale fishing should be done. Not the indiscriminate mile wide nets or bottom destroying dredges.

  • This traditional kind of fishing is more efficient and environment friendly than those deep-sea trawlers that catch the fish when they are still strong and their bycatch includes animals from sharks to puffer fish.

  • I really love tuna.I eat it everyday :)

  • @EricFabian123 watch out for quick silver..

  • Backward ass people, very inefficient fishing method.

  • lõl_âñýÒNÈ_wäÑNâ_chÄt_wÏth_mÊ_Í_féèl_sÔ_lÖÑÉlY_tøÐåy♬

  • TAZER TEH TUNA!~!!

  • How did i come here?

  • @rene0042 i know how you feel...

  • i hope that dick falls off the boat and the fishes fuck him up hard....

  • @piklweezl

The demand is slowing in some areas where sustainable seafood is demanded, especially in areas like San Francisco and Monterey, CA. The demand actually CAN eventually go away if only the public was better informed. You're just overly pessimistic. Also, I don't know exactly how many tons of fish parts are discarded from harbors daily, but based on the impression I have from your snide remarks, neither do you! Also-- what's wrong with hippies? I am not a hippie anyway.

  • makes me hungry..

  • i cried so hard.

  • fish smells awful, no way I would eat that...sucks the fish have to suffocate to death, not a nice way to go

  • Very, very nice Video

  • barbarian

  • tuna iz yummy.

  • you can't pay me enough to do that. i feel so bad for those tuna. maybe i shouldnt of had tuna for lunch..,

  • thats sad, soon there will be no fish left at all, how about i round up your family in a big net and ram a hook through your childs throat and see how you like it? fuckin cunts!

  • savages

  • @907Pike All I noticed in that comment was "Homer" and "doe"

  • This is nature, Man has to eat, no one said its gonna be pretty!

  • mmmmmmmm im starving think ill go fishing for some tuna today

  • Commercial fishing is more important than sport fishing tuna. It keeps foods in our fridges and pantries.

  • @AssaultCrusader Yes, because we all have to eat shit tons of fish every day, or else we will all starve. Bad leaders killed Rome, ignorance will kill the U.S.

  • anyone else get here cos of a zelda vid?

  • Commercial fishing destroys fishing for everyone all the time because the government wants to sell off everything for a dollar even though it belongs to all of us, The same with hunting, if D.C. gets it's way we will all be exploited.

  • @907Pike it is what it is man

  • TUNA !!!!!! you have many clones haha

  • i wanna tuna sandwich now!

  • WoW I never image how big these fishes are!

  • Dear Animals, I make fire, steel, rope, and boats. You don't. You are inferior creatures on this planet and I WILL always eat you. Sorry about your luck. Now hold still...

    Sincerely,

    Man

  • @captaindanneskjold if "man" dont got the knowledge that animals suffer, and dont has other food sources, i would call him for example wolve, but now i call him sick bastard.

  • adding comments saying "stop the fishing" doesnt do shit.

go jump in the ocean and lie in front of those fishing nets if u wanna stop the fishing.

  • Pooooossss ahhhh i TUNA!!!!!!! and all that trifle, have to eat it if you want to get big and strong, just like me main man mr wakey used to say. Tuna what ye want to eat when your bulking up

  • "No man can hand-fish blue fin tuna alone"... i do it with a speargun all the time

  • This is so wrong :/

  • Good to know were saving some food on this planet for our children's children. Unless global change takes place, we have a very bleak future.

  • im eating tuna as i watch this. no joke.

  • killers!!!!! killers,killers

    γαμημένοι

  • Stop killing tuna!!! * eats tuna sushi in th background *

  • yeah stupid tuna

  • Well..Tuna is good....

  • sorry charlie.

  • talk about a fish fry

  • Kazuma Kiryu is the only man that has hand-fished a blue fin tuna!

  • @ChinazHOHO Yakuza 3 reference? ;D

  • The disappearance of species for Money

  • Yea. thats not too bad.. it looks like alot of fish but actually for the time it takes them to set that up and the amount of fish they get, it's not bad for the tuna population. thats actually not too many tuna and they' didnt look huge . around 50 - 100 pounders.

  • This is sickening. Bluefin tuna are critically endangered. It was extremely irresponsible for NG to to report that.

Also, why is NG celebrating this disgusting, violent practice? It's not at all necessary to kill tuna.

  • @cajal6 so your suggestion would be what exactly? stop eating tuna altogether? this way of fishing doesn't seem to yield a huge amount of fish, and i don't think would endanger the species.

also, is there really a 'nice' and non violent way of killing an animal for food?

  • @icedbannanas Well, yes, one could always stop eating tuna.

Bluefin tuna are endangered. For years, ICCAT has ignored the advice of its scientific advisory committee, and set the catch limits far too high. The impact of these policies are well documented.

There is good evidence that many species of fish experience pain. Humane slaughter laws should be amended to include fish. Alternatively, one could stop eating animals.

  • @cajal6 tuna arent endangered, and if they were, you wouldnt be allowed to catch them at all so wuit trying to act smart you little shit head

  • @mrkanker1 The Northern Bluefin Tuna is endangered and the Southern Bluefun Tuna is critically endangered. Both are on the IUCN redlist.

  • @cajal6 Cry all you want. Animal consumption isn't stopping.

  • @letsgetthisoverwith No one is "crying." The earlier commenter made incorrect claims.

One doesn't have to kill sentient animals to live a healthy, happy, productive life. And by driving certain species, like bluefin tuna, to near extinction, we endanger marine ecosystems, which we depend on.

  • @cajal6 Indeed one must. We are omnivores and, as such, are required to eat both meat and vegetables in order to sustain a healthy body, though it is true that the amount of meat we eat nowadays is atrocious and needs to be desperately cut down.

  • @letsgetthisoverwith Actually, that's not the case. Omnivore means that humans can eat meat and plants, not that we have a requirement to do so. It is possible not to eat meat and still be healthy. The ADA has publicly stated this for years.

  • @cajal6 That's funny 'cause I've a liver problem due to genetic predisposition that pretty much requires me to eat healthy and natural. One of such requirements is that I CANNOT go without eating at least 100g of red meat or 300g of white meat twice a day at lunch and dinner. Should I not eat it, I'd have to distribute meat consumption throughout the day to match the daily requirement. Meat is indeed required for a healthy diet, not eating it requires supplement, which isn't for everyone.

  • @letsgetthisoverwith I can only respond that every major medical body has stated the opposite - that it is not necessary to consume meat. Many of the essential ingredients in meat can be found in other foods (beans, nuts, grains, etc). It might be necessary to take a multi vitamin or some other supplement to correct a nutrient deficiency, but that's hardly an onerous burden.

  • @cajal6 Well those medical bodies can kiss my liver. Yes a human can survive without meat, however, it's not really recommended by nutritionists.

  • @letsgetthisoverwith That's a telling comment -- when presented with evidence that refutes your claims, you just ignore it. The health benefits of reducing and eliminating meat intake are well documented. I often hear that people "have to" eat meat, but these claims are rarely based in fact.

  • @cajal6 whatever mate.

  • @cajal6 I agree, we can survive without meat however on an evolutionary basis we would not have developed our brain capacity without having the high protein meat diet. That said, we are where we are now and we have the ability to draw the nutrients we need from crop foods etc. I am a die hard recreational fisherman but I would support a worldwide moratorium and ban on all commercial fishing for 10 years. fish stocks would soar in just 10 years easily,it would be amazing

  • @cajal6 Humans have to eat meat to be healthy that is a fact. If you want to have energy, strength bla bla bla you need to eat meat. You can be "gay" and eat grass.

  • @mayesticOne Humans do not have to eat meat for health. According to the American Dietetic Association, "appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diets, are healthful [and] nutritionally adequate. Well-planned vegetarian diets are appropriate for individuals during all stages of the life-cycle including pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood and adolescence and for athletes.”

  • @cajal6 Oke first of all i stoped reading when you wrote "American" Dietetic Association since its American i know know they are stupid and have no idea what they are talking about. And also its America you guys have no

clue what healthy eating is you have the most overweight population on the planet. You eat deep fried meats in fast food restaurants that has been chemically enhanced bla bla bla. That's your problem you need to eat all types of meat and know how to prepare it.

  • @cajal6 Humans are not ment to be vegetarians. You can be a retarded person or a homosexual and only eat grass but you are doing this planet more damage than people who slaugh
