So either this guy has a mod loaded or they changed how far you can jump. The first jump to get the crate and the one from the doorway to the moving platform stand seem no longer possible.

The moving platform itself is slightly higher than the doorway, so it is possible to jump back once you use your 4th portal to get the cube.

The first 10 seconds was the solution to the achievement

That doesn't seem to be possible any longer, at least not in PC.

The jump is much shorter, and if you manage to grab the crate, it is released as soon as you touch the ground, not matter how fast you move the mouse to bring it down.

Most of these old videos use glitches that no longer work.

Changes in the engine probably fixed that.

I JUST DID IT ON THE 360! almost gave up. its real, its possible. just takes dedication. you wont do it jumping flatfooted, try a running start at the button and try to get the button to give you an actual boost AS you jump

I managed all of this quite easily except fot the first crate grab. You can still get gold with 4 portals. The jump-crouch thing is a good tip.

NVm that last post, by chance I grabbed it. Very difficult, and my PC is strong. You just have to time it right. Don't worry about dropping it before you get it off the shelf it seems to push away from the wall for me and was easier to grab the second time round.

Man, I found this video pretty hard to watch with all the pausing and looking around at the wall behind you and generally being silly.

Getting onto the first platform isn't a big production, you just shoot a portal on the snake eye right above it, and drop down from a wall portal in your starting room. Not hard.

Neither is getting onto the second platform - you don't need to crouch jump. Makes it easier.

Which is not to say there aren't good tips in here; I didn't think to do a cube bounce.

The key to jumping on the last platform (2nd cube) is to crouch at the moment you are about to land on it. It takes some practice.

@Gennady100 actually you can on the counsole version. just move to the side of the button slowly until you are barely on it. it should register you as not on the button and the button will rise up giving you more height.

How do you make the jump off of the grate to the moving platform beam!? I've tried it about 50 times and keep coming up short. Looks like you're running a little faster or something...is there a run key on the keyboard I'm somehow woefully unaware of?

The trick is to jump, and right after press and hold crouch. What you probably do wrong is that you jump too early. You just have to do it over and over again to learn it, but after that it gets pretty easy :)

This is the PC version. The XBox 360 version doesn't provide the same level of control so tricks like the initial box grab or the jump to the conveyor belt aren't possible on the console. Not sure about the PS3 version though.

I just did it myself, you just have to watch the floor as you jump to know when you are truely at the furthest point on the metal link floor. I agree though, console games offer much less control and precision. +1'ed

Most people use the button to jump off of to get extra height, just makes sure you're trying to grab the part of the box sticking sticking out the most (top left I believe).
