I'm not going to dispute that Hotomi won fairly, but it just seems to me her win wasn't handled as well. She's holding her own until she gets blinded..Then dominates with Wing Chun despite the handicap that she can't see. You'd think once she realised the wasn't going to win up close, Tifa would back away from Hitomi, but she keeps trying the same thing, while Hitomi steals more of her materia. Also, how does she know how to use materia or see it?
I think Wing Chun targets specific pressure points in the body that injure the muscles and causes them to contract, and I think from Monty's perspective this action would push the Materia from her body. And you can master Wing chun without seeing. Also, how I think Materia works is when you equip it, using the magic becomes sort of second nature. Like breathing, you don't really think about how your lungs contract and enflate they do it on their own. But you can activate it.
Also, Tifa's a monk class fighter. It wouldn't be her to use magic to defeat her opponent, she's going to beat them to a pulp with her fighting skills.. it just so happen in this circumstance her opponent was using a style of martial arts built on turning offensive fighting styles in on themselves and lost..
@Katnipkity That's all fine and good, you'd just think being blind would reduce Hitomi's ability to use Wing Chun effectively, and still doesn't explain how she knew where the materia was when she hit it out of Tifa, or how she knows how to use it. It's not the outcome that bothered me, but the way it was done.

Does anyone notice that in the music, where Hitomi takes Tifa's first materia, the green one, you can hear: "...pure green leaf..." which pretty much has to do with nature which has to do with earth and hence the earth shifting materia. Possible connection?

Tifa just owned up about 40 ninjas in part 5 ;) took some arrows to the chest, got stabbed, rose up and cut and killed some more hahaha. a 100 LV Tifa is strong without materia anyways. She trained w/ VII"s supposedly strongest martial arts master Zangan too

not really, in DF 1 the DoA girls kicked ass. in DF II it was mixed, but mostly FF near the end. now it's back to DoA. We can onlyl tell from the upcoming matches who he's favoring. I think the Rinoa vs. RAcheal and Rikku vs. Ayane match will help us decide who he's favoring, but I think there's a bigger evil out there that will end the FF vs. DoA and create a huger conflict for part 6 & 7
Actually, in DF 1, when the characters were evened out, FF won. They only started losing when DOA got another girl on their side. FF totally kicked ass in DF2. DF3/5; Hitomi won... DF4: Yuna/Cloud won.
Nah, watch again bud. Most of the video Yuna is getting beaten up in the begining and middle. Rikku didn't own up much either. I'd say Ayane and Hitomi kicked the most ass in DF1. In Part 2, Tifa and Rinoa had the most power I agree. Since 3 and 5 aren't out yet we can't say for sure, seeing as Monty had said part III was going to be super long, I'm guessing he only showed a little clip. but I'd agree Hitomi was the star of the previews but Tifa stole the show being out numbered and near dead.
Actually, when Rikku and Yuna fought Kasumi and Ayane in a fair fight, they began to kick their asses. It was only until it was uneven again, when Hitomi entered that Yuna and Rikku started to get their asses handed to them. I think he's going to just add the second half of Dead Fantasy 3 to the first half and make it "Dead Fantasy 3." He said he was only adding SOME scenes to the videos, though.

Actually my guess is that Kasumi is going to fight Cloud in DFVI, much like Tifa fought Hayate's ninjas in V.
But that's just me. They probably might be able to reunite when you think about Kasumi's ability to teleport. Or Yuna could summon them like she summoned Cloud (or at least, I think she summoned him...).

Tifa just owned up about 40 ninjas in part 5 ;) took some arrows to the chest, got stabbed, rose up and cut and killed some more hahaha. a 100 LV Tifa is strong without materia anyways. She trained w/ VII"s supposedly strongest martial arts master Zangan too

i dunno...I still think that Tifa has a chance to beat her. After all, it's pretty obvious that Monty favors FF over DoA, and i'm sure alot of people would be shocked if Tifa didn't win. After all, she's TIFA!

not really, in DF 1 the DoA girls kicked ass. in DF II it was mixed, but mostly FF near the end. now it's back to DoA. We can onlyl tell from the upcoming matches who he's favoring. I think the Rinoa vs. RAcheal and Rikku vs. Ayane match will help us decide who he's favoring, but I think there's a bigger evil out there that will end the FF vs. DoA and create a huger conflict for part 6 & 7

Actually, in DF 1, when the characters were evened out, FF won. They only started losing when DOA got another girl on their side. FF totally kicked ass in DF2. DF3/5; Hitomi won... DF4: Yuna/Cloud won.

Nah, watch again bud. Most of the video Yuna is getting beaten up in the begining and middle. Rikku didn't own up much either. I'd say Ayane and Hitomi kicked the most ass in DF1. In Part 2, Tifa and Rinoa had the most power I agree. Since 3 and 5 aren't out yet we can't say for sure, seeing as Monty had said part III was going to be super long, I'm guessing he only showed a little clip. but I'd agree Hitomi was the star of the previews but Tifa stole the show being out numbered and near dead.

Actually, when Rikku and Yuna fought Kasumi and Ayane in a fair fight, they began to kick their asses. It was only until it was uneven again, when Hitomi entered that Yuna and Rikku started to get their asses handed to them. I think he's going to just add the second half of Dead Fantasy 3 to the first half and make it "Dead Fantasy 3." He said he was only adding SOME scenes to the videos, though.

idk wat all happen in this discussion. i just wanted to say they are both good fighters although i like hitomi better. and that she didnt bleed it was some blinding spelling and it dropped. So since she couldn't see clearly, she started using a style called wing- chun. mostly known for striking fast rather thn hitting hard. she also used pressure points.

Yes, you're right, I'm sorry about the bleeding part.
But what I meant about it is - it was even at first, then Tifa first came through with something. After that Hitomi changed fighting styles and out of nowhere she was clearly stronger. That's some kind of often used technic in fights I generally dislike.
Besides that, I'm a FF and DOA-Fan, so for examlpe I like Tifa more than Hitomi, but Ayane more than RIkku...

Actually my guess is that Kasumi is going to fight Cloud in DFVI, much like Tifa fought Hayate's ninjas in V.
But that's just me. They probably might be able to reunite when you think about Kasumi's ability to teleport. Or Yuna could summon them like she summoned Cloud (or at least, I think she summoned him...).
