You do not strip the wire, it defeats the whole purpose of the insulated connector, with those (what we english call "scotch locks") you leave the insulation on the wire, and squeeze the metal spade down onto both wires creating one connection, by stripping the wire like you did, you run the risk of shorting out on any surrounding metal...dumbass.
