I think what makes "Zhila" an interesting piece to the Persian ear is the fact that it is actually very European with an eastern touch. It is written in Aeolian mode which kind of sounds like the Persian modes Abu Atta or Nava. The large skips also make it less persian and bring a sense of novelty.

Maybe in some piano books, but I recommend using your ears and trying to find the notes yourself. That's how I learnt it.
