I would have to disagree… There is a big difference between singers and vocalists. Singers are those who sound good when they sing; they mimic what they hear. But what WH was saying is that when you really know how to sing (i.e. a true vocalist) it doesn’t matter what ur singing, your able to take any song and make it sound like angels singing from the heavens b/c ur voice is that good (e.g. look up Patti sings the alphabet on Sesame St or WH singing I Will Always Love you).

@maleficentdiva well I think the idea is, a good singer can sing any song in some fashion. for example, Whitney took an old country song by Dolly Parton and turned it into the most famous R&B/pop ballad of all time. She can take melody and a bit of vamping and slap it onto any song and it would sound good.

Notice when she sang Guide Me oh Thy Great Jehovah on Aresenio's show first, she ran all over the place b/c she knew his primarily black audience would go crazy.
