If you spent enough money to HAVE HDMI support on your TV or Laptop you probably know what they are, and likely know how to connect the two. In any case, it works basically the same, just carries the audio as well.

Also they leave out the audio from the VGA part, though it should be the same as SVideo.

Just use a HDMI that is the best thing to any other. (If your computer has a HDMI port)

because the output from your mac is purely for video. If you're lucky you can get a component cable (the white and red connectors to tv and standard 3.5mm to laptop). however, since hdmi was designed to carry both video and sound, being able to use both connectors at the same time is very unusual.
