Nice. This is exactly what I do as an apprentice engineer whenever I'm in Andernach (Germany) and we're switching out cars at the local steel coil mill or conflats from the harbor. Four-way intersection, same procedure, same PPE, amost the same-looking guys I work with too :D Only we don't use Geeps to do the job...
what a dream to have an appartment on the second floor of the house with the trains passing right in your bedroom. Fun. Obviously all the traffic lights turn RED when the train moved on the street.
Great Video! Glad to see street railways still in use.I would've love to see the days when Brantford had the TH&B and the CN line from Fort Erie intersect with the CN main near the station!
Thank you for this. I moved from Brantford a year ago (Where I was born and raised and live for 27 years) I live in the States now with my husband. I was missing home tonight and looked up Brantford. Thank you, you brought home to me just a little bit.
this is some of the oldest railway in brantford.this spur also is combined with what is remaining of the TH&B waterford sub and the old LE&N line to cambridge area-lot of history here, but mostly an inconvience for the uninformed!
CP had a transfer yard for 40ft boxcars that went north to the stamping plant. It was neat the CP boxcars had a yellow herald on them that said For GM Oshawa Service Only.
LOL Here in Oshawa where I live we had tracks running right the centre of Simcoe st. GM used to have a North Staming plant here and CN would come off the main and head north on the spur cross CP's main and pick up whatever CP had going north and take their train about 3 miles north to the GM plant. They had a yard and a shop up there as well. They used to deliver lumber to Millwork Home centre's at one time as well. This all ended about 10 years ago.
The line used to JCT from Brantford off the CN Dundas Sub and than to the CN Cayuga Subdivision before the 1972 or 1973. After the the early 1970's the line has much like it does today.
this is the exact spot my 10 speed bikes tires slipped between the tracks and i broke my wrist...and trains barely ever use that track anymore...so the risk of some kid getting killed is minimal.
How is the train any more dangerous than the vehicles on the same roadway? If the kid is stupid enough not to get out of the way of a train, then they should win a darwin award. Or if they are in a car, it's the moron driving who is the safety risk.
How will this train turn around? The way the line looks, it doesn't look like there is a place for it to turn around. Thats close clearance for you. This is only a spur and no main line.
This is the CN Burford Spur. I hope some dont think the line is a trolley line. I laughed when the train rides on the sidewalk, never seen that done before anywhere.
It's not fare, why do other cities get all the luck with street running? Out here in San Diego we don't have any street tracks. There were 2 places in a town not far from where I live that did street running, but they're not in use anymore, uuuuuhhhhh, lol!! This is still cool:)
Well yeah I have heard of Jack London Square and I'd like to go there sometime but I don't live there or anywhere close to there because I live about an 8 hour car drive away.
they do it every weekend, usually early afternoon. it goes towards the casino then a couple of hours later, it comes back. i used to live nearby and i'd see it every weelend. heck i used to work at the place where that train's going, those rail cars are full of some kind of powder, can't remember what it was called though
i have only seen one other, a remnant of the CNoR in oshawa in 1991...long gone now. this was an icredible stroke of luck to have caught this. now i wish i had some top notch video equippment

People have enough common sense to avoid being in a turn lane while the train is there.

If you go by there today, You'll see a "Motorcyclists Use Caution" sign, I saw a motorcyclist fall off his bike there.
