  • Nice. This is exactly what I do as an apprentice engineer whenever I'm in Andernach (Germany) and we're switching out cars at the local steel coil mill or conflats from the harbor. Four-way intersection, same procedure, same PPE, amost the same-looking guys I work with too :D Only we don't use Geeps to do the job...

  • LAWL

  • what a dream to have an appartment on the second floor of the house with the trains passing right in your bedroom. Fun. Obviously all the traffic lights turn RED when the train moved on the street.

  • People have enough common sense to avoid being in a turn lane while the train is there.

  • lol! I can hear my and my little guy, saying CHO CHO!!! ahahah I remember seeing you that day recording !!!

  • @Heavenly0Leilani Are you in the video?

  • @fawqme2 Not technically, you cant hear the people across the street, saying Cho Cho!! We were watching the train go by!!

  • live very close to that areat

  • that is very close to the buildings

  • Hey, do you remember about three years ago a motorcyclist got hit by a train and died on that intersection?

  • They did it so they can go for donuts.

  • i can't believe this actually operates

  • I drive down this street when I go to my granddaughters house. The question of ..Do they use this track.. Has been answered. Thanks

  • WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great Video! Glad to see street railways still in use.I would've love to see the days when Brantford had the TH&B and the CN line from Fort Erie intersect with the CN main near the station!

  • LOL. I still hate this corner. When a train comes through, it takes forever to pass.

  • If you go by there today, You'll see a "Motorcyclists Use Caution" sign, I saw a motorcyclist fall off his bike there.

  • Thank you for this. I moved from Brantford a year ago (Where I was born and raised and live for 27 years) I live in the States now with my husband. I was missing home tonight and looked up Brantford. Thank you, you brought home to me just a little bit.

  • great catch. Love seeing trains run through the streets. Really nice sounding horn on that GP9 too :)

  • Thats awesome! Ive never seen a freight train going through the streets like that! Nice video

  • Wow, me neither! Except for grade crossings, I've always seen freight trains running in their own ROW.

  • How do the cars stay out of thw way? it goes right through the turning lane.

  • see the guy getting off the train? he's using a key to turn on and off the intersection lights.

  • @MackenzieClare when the trains come the lights turn red/green to give the train a clear path

  • so very cool

  • i love walking the tracks.

  • this is some of the oldest railway in brantford.this spur also is combined with what is remaining of the TH&B waterford sub and the old LE&N line to cambridge area-lot of history here, but mostly an inconvience for the uninformed!

  • your right i live in brantford. there is a ton of history here and also in st.thomas

  • short answer is no. long answer is no too.

  • do VIA or GO trains use this track ?

  • CP had a transfer yard for 40ft boxcars that went north to the stamping plant. It was neat the CP boxcars had a yellow herald on them that said For GM Oshawa Service Only.

  • that's F*&$#@G AWESOME !!!!!

train street running in Canada, I had no Idea !

  • LOL Here in Oshawa where I live we had tracks running right the centre of Simcoe st. GM used to have a North Staming plant here and CN would come off the main and head north on the spur cross CP's main and pick up whatever CP had going north and take their train about 3 miles north to the GM plant. They had a yard and a shop up there as well. They used to deliver lumber to Millwork Home centre's at one time as well. This all ended about 10 years ago.

  • yea, in like the old days there was this trolley thing you could take around town. Before I was born

  • That is local CN #587 from Brantford yard off the Dundas Sub.

  • It still JCT off the CN Dundas Sub from Brantford, but only goes to Burford is the end of the line.

  • The line used to JCT from Brantford off the CN Dundas Sub and than to the CN Cayuga Subdivision before the 1972 or 1973. After the the early 1970's the line has much like it does today.

  • At least the train made a daylight appearance. Can you imagine what it is like at night?

  • Do you see any other power besides GP9r's?

  • no thats the only time i have ever seen anything on that line.

  • Ft Collins Colorado has street running on South Mason Street its owned by the BNSF its ex-C&S tracks

  • this is the exact spot my 10 speed bikes tires slipped between the tracks and i broke my wrist...and trains barely ever use that track anymore...so the risk of some kid getting killed is minimal.

  • very dangerous as a railway one day a child will die because of it!!!

  • those tracks have been there for over 100 years. the train isn't the problem, the child you speak of is.

  • How is the train any more dangerous than the vehicles on the same roadway? If the kid is stupid enough not to get out of the way of a train, then they should win a darwin award. Or if they are in a car, it's the moron driving who is the safety risk.

It's not like we can swerve out of the way.

  • yah and if you think the trains going rallllyslow so the chances of him hitting someone is very VERY minimal.

  • lol i hitched i ride on the thing a few times

  • i almost got hit by that train once..... darn ipod :D

  • How will this train turn around? The way the line looks, it doesn't look like there is a place for it to turn around. Thats close clearance for you. This is only a spur and no main line.

  • This is the CN Burford Spur. I hope some dont think the line is a trolley line. I laughed when the train rides on the sidewalk, never seen that done before anywhere.

  • street-running and sidewalk-running. LOL Never seen a train drive on a sidewalk.

  • Railroad crossing preempt cool. I love CN! I just never seen it done manually.

  • Whoah...I live here and I didnt even know these existed...? You could just hop right onto it?! Thats intensly amazing...

    <3 parkour

  • It's not fare, why do other cities get all the luck with street running? Out here in San Diego we don't have any street tracks. There were 2 places in a town not far from where I live that did street running, but they're not in use anymore, uuuuuhhhhh, lol!! This is still cool:)

  • Sure, you have heard of Oakland? Jack London Square still has their mainline street running.

  • Well yeah I have heard of Jack London Square and I'd like to go there sometime but I don't live there or anywhere close to there because I live about an 8 hour car drive away.

  • nice thrash but needs a 2 tone horn

  • they do it every weekend, usually early afternoon. it goes towards the casino then a couple of hours later, it comes back. i used to live nearby and i'd see it every weelend. heck i used to work at the place where that train's going, those rail cars are full of some kind of powder, can't remember what it was called though

  • what the hell lol

i didn't even think that track was still operational

  • lol me either. i thought they abandonned it like everything else..fucking CN..lol

  • finally I see a train going down there, in the middle of Brantford. I never thought I'd see it on youtube though

  • lol nice dont usualy see them stop much and jump off nice picture on the cam but not that exciting though train goes through my back yard on clarence

  • iv onley senn it go by there once in my life time and im 23 and it was onley a small one

  • I'm 22 and have only seen the train go down Clarence Street 1 time.

  • wtf i missed this?! I've waited my whole life to see a train go down clarence..... FARK!

  • Is that you in the blue shirt?

  • yes, and my train-nut daughter is in the light blue tank top.

  • That's cool, that you have a daughter that likes trains! not too many girls like trains.

  • Super catch! CN GP9 street running!

  • Wow!!! You'd never see that everyday!!! Trains actually waited for cars! Hehe...

  • WOW!! thats some rare stuff! nice catch!

  • Street running in Ontario???, the only one i know of is the PCHR

  • i have only seen one other, a remnant of the CNoR in oshawa in 1991...long gone now. this was an icredible stroke of luck to have caught this. now i wish i had some top notch video equippment

  • wow! what street is this on?

  • clarence street at colborne street

  • the trains run daily across it

  • accross that track?? i duno if they do anymore..

  • awsome!

  • Key activated stop lights?

  • yes, i wasn't expecting that, so it's an added bonus to the street scene.

  • Nice!
