Amazing that after 3 years since this was uploaded, we know what a bills of goods we were forced to switch too...If there was ever a white elephant, DTV has to be it...More channels?..Hell no...Just a few subcarriers or ulticast...My area on antenna web is good for only one channel, but I do get a few more...But gone are more then half a dozen that are now so under powered...Can't say it's a better picture when there's no picture at all...What a damn shame!..
BBest Buy you nead to update your info. because ComCast is requiring a digital box no more straight coax in to Analog TV,VCR or DVDrecorder so if you have perfectly working analog equiptment TV,VCR or DVDR you will nead one of many types of digital tuner for each. YES a 2 tuners if you watch and record another channel at the same time. Or PAY more for dual tuner DVR. After about 6 months of equiptment rental Comcast makes a lot of money on you.
They say there are still about 3 million people who aren't ready for the transition.... so while watching basic cable channels for the 1st few months after the transition I should expect to see less commercials for retard helmets and the video professor.... hopefully
im GLAD for digital tv! those of us who can't' afford paid service can now enjoy more channels with a clear pic & no snow! my new widescreen & 30 yr old roof antenea is picking up the signals just fine - waaayyy better than analog.
The government OWNS the satellites and rights to use the air that the signals go through. they then rent the rights to use it to sell to companies for money. now we need more space to fit more information into. one easy way fo doing this is to convert to digital which is more efficient then analog space use wise.
what's the big fuss, worry about this change? how many household in this countrry uses antennae. i bet everybody knows the PLANNED CHANGE by now. stop all this annoying reminders.
Im only guessing, but if there are 200 million regular televisions in America to be converted into HD, then that $40 in government subsidy per TV × 200,000,000 = $8 billion.
Why is the government so anxious to spend 8 billion dollars on her citizens to improve the clarity of a TV picture? Or is the recently touted additional bandwidth cover story that supposedly is to be gained with the HD technology the only and genuine reason for spending so much taxpayer dollars on HD conversion?
Digital TV if fine in itself but when it is broadcasted though and received an antenna you get drop outs (like a skipping cd). That will be VERY annoying for most viewers. With analog transmition the picture just gets a little fuzzy but is still very watchable. Most poor people will probabaly not have tv because the signal will be too weak in some areas and there will be lots of signal dropouts even with a good anttena with amplifier boosters. I have already witnessed this. No more TV for me.
digital being better for wireless transmission is bullshit. my dad's old analog cellphone from the late 90's could get 5 bars on the subway, which is impossible for 2g and 3g digital phones.
i got my box with the coupon 2 months ago. First of all, i wanna say even though analog is all snowy, Analog BLOWS digital out of the water when it comes to reception. With digital i only get 1 station and it breaks up into squares. with analog i get over 15. In other words, unless you live across the street from the station your not gonna pick up anything.

So tell me, is BB gonna push one of those BS "extended service plans" on a $20 box (w/ the coupon)? Or tell me I need to buy "premium" (coax or composite) cables to make it, "work better?"
one of the biggest scams I have ever seen, now the government can tell you how to watch tv, what next how to dress, will all be wearing pin-stripes and track outfits soon lol come on

You wanna know what the DTV transition REALLY is?
a great big waste of time, money, and energy.
wilkes85 2 years ago
How does it waste energy? My DTV Converter Box uses only 8 watts of power.
EncoreEnterprisesLLC 2 years ago
I didn't mean it like that, I basically meant that it's a useless effort. I didn't mean it wastes electricity.

It's more like so if there is an emergency
(ie terrorist attack) the government has easy access to your TV so you know what to do to avoid danger.
They aren't dictating our lives, they're helping us stay safe. (-:
