  • AWESOMENESS!!!

thank you for sharing this with us...

    Namaste

    Kensho

  • Sweet Joni all those years ago touching on our disrespect for mother earth. such beautiful wording deserves to be listened to fully and acted upon.

  • INCREIBLE, ojala elola quieres a llegar a El Salvador a tocar un cancion para mis pescadores/as que lindo este mujer[ mi ve i

    n 1976, Duke U.]

  • Diane Rovell still looking fab and sounding great Hey wait a minute........ LOL

  • She borrowed from Amy Grant!! Thats good.

  • Love Joni !!!!

  • jANET jACKSON'S OLD COVER SONG ON VELVET ROPE ALBUM!!!

  • Love her guitar sound - she's amazing

  • This is fantastic. What style. Some mighty lucky people were there to see this.

  • joni b good :)

  • Nice guitar.... Gotta love a Parker :)

  • Love the song. Didn't like that they put up a Mormon advertisement with mine. They claim diversity,But if your not a poligimast they stifle it. As when they poured money into defeating prop 8 in California.

  • This is just bad (and boring, as the previous commenter stated). And I really like this song. Her voice, the lyrics and the melody are what makes this song great and in this performance you can't hear any of it.

  • Fack, this is boring..

  • to find a queen without the king, she play guitar and cry and sing, cantavano i Led zeppelin per Joni, quanto mai appropriato

  • Not sure about that guitar, but she is such a great guitarist. Very understated, some of the work of blue is virtuoso. Same said about Joan Baez, two great examples of excellent female guitarists

  • @hiddeninromance

Female guitarists , check out "Heart" one big effin outstanding and I'm a misogynist hah!

    Peace out .

    Cheesy.

  • she is amazing!!!

  • Diane Rovell looks beautiful as always oh wait this is Joni Mitchell my bad LOL they're both beautiful

  • We need more like Joni....a total legend

  • me too Kenwayne96. I fell in love with her long ago. I agree, she really has a very beautiful smile

  • @Maori4LyfeNZ Are you outta your mind, she defined this song.

  • @Maori4LyfeNZ GACK! NO! They changed the words for no reason. There was no gender issues at play, it was just a lyric change that still puzzles me. Joni does it best all the time.

  • Is she a smoker?

  • A song in which Joni complains they 'Paved paradise to put up a parking lot', a measure which actually would have alleviated traffic congestion on the outskirts of paradise, something which Joni singularly fails to point out, perhaps because it doesn't quite fit in with her blinkered view of the world. Nevertheless, nice song.

  • @Durbot999 It's good that you make people think. Keep it up! If you keep at it they will think.

  • @Durbot999 It's good that you make people think. Keep it up! If you keep at it they will think. Even me ,and I hate to think. arrgh. It's happening again. Curse you Durbot

  • Love Love Joni Mitchell

  • she's got such a beautiful smile. I think I'm in love with her.

  • What an awsome performance - complete with a Bob Dylan impersonation. You go Joni.

  • @kenwayne96 Fuck, she's amazing!!! :D

  • what an awsome performance. Joni Mitchell is one of the greatest female recording artist.

  • She looks pretty great, i gotta say, but she hasn't really taken much care of the voice, smoking a billion cigarettes a day type deal. you can hear it, cause it has the wheezy quality, but yet she still manages to figure out how to put the song across

  • @kryptonitesf you need to watch Joni's apperance on Tavis Smiley she explains why she's smoked since she was 9

  • She is awesome!

  • Could you imagine if her younger self went on x factor. She would probably get 3 no's. The problem is the big producers look for perfection, but perfection comes and goes, its ppl like Joni & Alanis and those with the unique voices that perhaps are not 'pitch' perfect that live on! I love this and her River song :D

  • @PuritanTV

    Yeh!

    Game on.

No individuality anymore , everyone sounds and looks the same , no real talents left , if there are they're kept from the massas , shame.

    Keep cool.

    Cheesy.

  • @ooohcheese -- well, Massa doesn't need any talents in his Big House. Let the masses have 'em instead.

  • @OldDunc

    Wow!

My grammer corrected by an American, I'm impressed ;0p

Red wine incident I'm afraid, it will not happen again Hah!

In the words of Eric Cartman "Day's never ending massa got me working,

    someday massa set me free."

    Cheesy.

  • We will always love you Joni noone sings with Passion like you do and noone has your cheeky smile !!!

  • look at whitney houston she can't sing no more and britany spears mimes in her concerts ....and people have a hide to critisise talent like this too young to know i say

  • Kmck What a fantastic woman- I will always love her music and personality!

  • @RINGVIDA ME TOO! =)

  • if you insult Joni Mitchel you're an insecure piece of shit get over your self and enjoy the beautiful music that she gave us

  • What a great performance. Can you imagine performing this song 5,000 times and somehow making it sound fresh and exciting? That is a performer!

  • Sounds better than ever!!!

  • People who have plastic surgery for vanity reasons are boring and shallow

  • What happened to great music like this? All we have now is cRAP and canned poppy shit.

  • @bharo9 I agree. this is music, not the stuff that on the radio now... it's so sad =(

  • She's so fit. I love her.

  • Tarja Merivirta also sings Big Yellow Taxi!

  • mitica joni, bella voce!

  • @vatelapesca1 first .you don't sing chords you sing the melody and second I wish I had the talent she coughed up while smoking

  • Mitchell's a genius indeed. Her only trouble is having chainsmoked for so many years. I think she did it originally to lower her voice, which was too shrill on her first couple albums, but later the smoking seems to have damaged her cords, as it did Aretha's. And Whitney's (though Whitney's been smoking more thasn cigarettes)

  • She's not ready for surgery. What has it come to. Buy the album.

  • timeless hit !!!

  • The majority of music and performances now are produced to perfection.... to be played on perfect systems to be enjoyed by perfect little ears....in a perfect little plastic environment. That is the difference now. Soul...feeling and the human touch is processed out. Its not about the highest vocal range or the most perfect blended harmony.. or the fastest thrashed guitar.... its about heart felt performances..and being there and if you dont understand that I feel sorry for you !

  • @patnod156...Why you wanna go and do that, ah n ahh...

  • patnod156 You obviously didn't read the last half of your post.. you said modern music was MUCH better. I doubt anyone will be listening to any of those people you mentioned in even 5 years

  • She seems very beautiful to me.

  • Joni still makes it work! But patnod156 you are way off about "modern musicians having the most amazing ranges" Have you heard joni when she was in her prime? Her range was incredible and her pitch is impeccable. Nowadays there is software that can correct off key singing. and believe me without it half the people you hear now wouldn't get played because they can't sing on key. Joni is absolutely one of the all time greats. And there are many other joni songs better than this but its good

  • Comment removed

  • @patnod156

Your precious "Modern Music" wouldn't exist without the pioneers like Joni Mitchell.

Just because you prefer modern music it doesn't mean it's "better".

Also, vocal range alone doesn't determine the greatness of a musician.

    Learn to appreciate.

  • @M3devac you are too right at least er voice has not been kind of botoxed !!!she is real timeless and with even more power !!!!!! go joni you ruie

  • @patnod156

    I tried what you suggest - pat...shake

  • @patnod156

Though good job if you are trying to wind everyone up

  • @patnod156 You're kidding about Vanna, right? Or are you actually disappointed that Joni 'would never be able to sing like that'? Do you really think that a Beelzebub impersonation would be suitable for every type of song?

  • I wonder what she would look like if she never smoked.

  • I love the Bob Dylan impression. Question for anyone who plays guitar: how's Joni tuned for this song?

  • thumbs up if counting crows version is beter

  • Never saw her do this electric .

    Acoustic she's cooool.

    Electric she's sexxxxy.

    MWaa!

    Peace out .

    Cheesy.

  • LOVE the guitar!!!!!

  • Yes, when I met her around 1988, she was completely chain-smoking. If she hasn't quite recently, I hope she quits right now! And you might not have known, but George Harrison only quit smoking when he was diagnosed with lung cancer. Doesn't go with his mystic image, but George was addicted to cigarettes and they killed him. He and Joni, who were close in age, probably both started around 1959-1960. By the end of the 60's, most people knew the deal, if they were paying any attention.

  • Her dyaln impression is pretty spot on! lol

  • I said singer-songwriter. In fact, a) Robert Plant is a huge Joni fan, hear Zeppelin's "California" for a specific tribute to Joni. & b) he is a gifted lyricist but most of Zep's melodies were written by Page and/or JP Jones. 2) Waters wrote some great songs for his band, but Mr. Gilmore did too, and sings better.Waters rarely sang without lots of accompanying harmony to fill. And how many great covers are there of his songs? 3) Interesting artist, but how many of his tunes are in songbooks?

  • @marinman39 you said a, 2, 3...

  • Joni may be THE great singer-songwriter of the past 50 years, period. And just to cut the arguments, you have Dylan, Lennon, McCartney, Jagger-Richards,. Neil Young, maybe Paul Simon, who else you got?, Joni is right there and she may be the very best. But as to her present voice, anyone who has ever met her knows those awful cigarettes are her true crutch, and have done more damage to her voice than the 66 or so years.

  • @marinman39 Thats a bold statement and I respectfully disagree. Robert Plant, Roger Waters, Maynard James Keenan are just three off of the top of my head that are WAY better than Joni. The only reason i viewed this video is because a friend of mine was singing it and it made me laugh so i had to check it out

  • @marinman39 - So true. Cigarettes have ruined many a singer's voice and even proved deadly; i.e. Timi Yuro, Mary Wells. Not just lung cancer but cancer of the throat and vocal chords as well. But back in the '60s, who knew? It was "cool" to smoke.

Hopefully Joni will be around for a long, long time!

  • @Cissy2cute True but lets not just blame smoking. Age is a huge factor, singers who never, or hardly smoked, but are now past middle age, often have their voices impaired

  • @mongoliancarrot Elton John's got lower with age; he used to be a tenor, and now he's a baritone. Art Garfunkel's voice has barely changed and he's a smoker... go figure haha

  • im a huge fan of joni mitchelle... u r right @mikeadksn she's 60 plus right now but she's still sexy and hot... love her....

  • I just love the whole band...their sound is just above anything else...

  • I wish I was an poet.. then I could have left some nice words here..

  • Her voice got a lot deeper. She is still awesome though.

Hope she tours again, I'd love to see her live.

  • does anyone know what her song is called it like...'and i am driving driving driving driving driving'please i cant find it

  • @eilishhixxy sorry, I don't know...:(

  • @eilishhixxy

The song is called "Car on a hill" from the album "court and spark"

  • does anyone know what guitar she is using? is that an electric?

  • @lucyuen she's using an electroacoustic guitar

  • @lucyuen The guitar is a Parker Fly

  • @lucyuen It's a Parker Fly

  • I agree with MrLuckarm - whats with these ads ?

joni has always been a bit of a silly cow. She justifies smoking cigaretts, but now is paying the price with her skin looking old and her voice going. imo

  • Commercials suck!!!

  • it's really about mentality.she's got a real idea about life and she's had it for lots of years.

  • Awsome, what can I say Joni? Effortless, as per usual. You're of the Gods.

  • She wrote this song, dude.

  • @smartalec84

I know, I thought it was bad then too. I heard it recently at work and the accent has been stuck in my head, makes me angry.

  • @theweebandninja

I'll bet you have a small penis

  • @rubbersole79

    i do, you could it's non-existent. I am a woman after all.

  • Class will out. Always does. I love you Joni. Feic! I sound like a Yank!. But its true. Best female singer-songwriter of her generation. Spawned so many others. Most of em are crap. But, at least she left a legacy of perfection to follow. Someone will take up the mantle. Wont they?

  • This is a sexy version. <3 Joni.

  • Cool version........seen her in Sydney back in the early 90's.

  • Whaahhah

That last move she makes XD

I like how she enjoys to perform for her audience!

    Nicee song!

  • parker guitars FTW

  • she's still amazing. <3

  • bigjeffrulz im only joking but are you on crystal methe bro?Look at what yiu wrte counting crows twice. i was right. and to me its still PARKING LOT to millions and the recent 2003 version is fsr superior &memorable, but thanks for the e mail my friend. next time ty angel dust or drink battery acide like i did in the 60s lol ha ha god bless. TOMKES doo wop/rocknroll historian

  • lol.... Bob Dylan wrote this verse

  • Bob Dylan covered it 3 years after Joni Mitchell released it.

  • @SuperColossal33 I was laughing at her "Bob Dylan" impersonation of course when she stated, "Bob Dylan wrote this verse". That was hilarious. Joni is awesome :)

  • Joni is stil pretty.I have always liked her stuff. Two of my favorite albums by her are coyote and Mingus.I love that beautiful fair skin tone she has

  • She's still got presence, and she's someone I'd love to share a beer with. A great messenger.

  • I think she looks pretty hot in this video. She had throat cancer too ya know. She was on Tavis Smiley recently and didn't look so well. But I love her in any form i find her.

  • Great sound from the Parker -she's an original guitar stylist as well as a great witer.

  • I really prefer the 1st version,this was disappointing:-/

  • Want to play guitar accompanyment?

    STUDY THIS!

    Exemplorary!

  • its counting crows not "counting crows"

  • your point being what exactly?

  • lol wut

  • I have always loved Joni and after hearing a newer version of - Richard - with her deeper jazzy voice, it's like getting two singers for the price of one ! Great stuff and ta for the upload. :o)o:

  • she sing a whole lot different. She lost all her range. I like her bluesy voice now.

    But its different.

  • Joni is 66 years old. She's probably been singing for 60 of those! You expect her to sound like she's 20? What will you look and sound like when you're 66? She still looks great and can jam with the best of them! She is a living legand!

  • give me Joni and Joan for company and I will be a very happy man forever

  • @mikeadksn I agree, plus she is hot........mmmmm I'm 26

  • @mikeadksn

Here, here! She's absolutely wonderful! Like wine, better with age!

  • @mikeadksn well smoking didn't help but sure she doesn't sound like her old self but she still is AMAZING but in a new diffrent way!

  • I listened to the Crow version. It sucks! So does Adam what's his name.

  • I don't care what anyone says i'm still in lov!

  • Cool Version, but what the hell happened to her face?!

  • nothing has happened. She doesnt like plastic surgeons and its ok .get older with the law of nature. the voice is still the same

  • @skalpel56 you got that right =)

  • @skalpel56" the voice is still the same", i think you may have an ear infection,

  • The version she did when she was young and her voice was better is the definative and best version.

  • She's using what she's got and that's a lot! Maybe go listen to the record if that's what you want. . .

  • this is the original version.any body who likes the black crows should go back to playing beer pong and watchjn friends.its like metallica fans who dont know who deep purple, black sabbath,or zz top are.go back and listen to more hootie and the blowfish or watch an episode of friends and expand your horizons

  • in english who is gonna f.... can tell me houw this gitar is tuned?? a po polsku jak jest natrojona gitara joni?????

  • I believe it's just "open D"

  • Crows suck ape dick. Remember they are copying her. Unoriginal hacks. Yuck! Joni Fucking Mitchell! F.T.W.

  • your an idiot, how can you say that the original writer doesnt do a better job.......

  • Sing it, Joni! And all you former flower children boomers who are now tearing down trees with bulldozers to make room for your monster retirement homes -- "Why d'ya wanna go and do that?". Go back to your roots and really listen!

  • Well said

  • you want them to live in the trees. fucking hippies.... get real

  • I appreciate this for being the original and Lyrics are great. However, the Crows version is much more musically pleasing. Props to her for a great tune though.

  • the original is always the best! thats the way it's suppose to sound!! i don't like this version but it's still a great tune!

  • prefer the crows version.

  • My god smoking has destroyed her voice.

  • janet jackson, q-tip ending there

  • Great remake of a great song... very entertaining, although I like the original version better.

Speaking of entertaining :), I've seen a cover of the original version of this song performed by mydogsingstoo, you can see it at: watch?v=Bb1CGJPE15s

I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I bet 25 bucks on that... no no maybe a dollar and a half, just to see it :)

Now seriously, I really think is great... so have a peek, if you want to.

  • Uh, you are aware of the fact that this one IS the original, right?

    Anyway, I prefer Counting Crows

  • She will always be yummy to me :)

  • love her, she's so talented...

    =D

  • i like the accoustic version better. the guitar sounds trippy. Still an amazing performer and artist

  • It's hard to like artist's like Joni or Frank Zappa, but this lady is master her lyrics are great and she is a multi instrument player wich makes her a true musician: But to like Joni's work you have to understand the essence and the message of her songs. Now the crows version it's good but just shows that they can't write songs like this Lady. Listen to her Shine, Court and Spark, Dog eat dog and For the roses albums.

  • just because the crows covered this song, doesn't mean that they can't write songs, they have plenty of originals.

and just because she wrote the song doens't mean that she plays it better, sure she gets credit for writing it, but i find the crows version much more enjoyable to listen to.

  • Hey retards wise up and realise that other people wrote some of the stuff you listen to! Get real there isn't any "better or worse" music is all good. Get rid of the bull and enjoy listening or just carry on in your own we world.

  • My friend Jake Walden, who is a musician, introduced me to Joni Mitchell and I am captivated....Jake Walden recently did a stunning version of "A Case of You"...simply put you will love it!

  • Jaytyan,You have no idea what r u talking about. I can see that u barely know about music.

  • Comment removed

  • that is correct she wrote it but i always thought that the crows do it better

  • This is the original. I like the cover better.

  • you should watch the clip called "big yellow taxi - joni mitchell in concert 1970"

she's played the song a million times at this point. in many ways the performance is just as good or better than her in '70 depending on how you look at it.

  • she wrote that song over thirty years ago

i hope you're joking or just mis-worded that sentence

i agree with your premise though. nothing beats the original.

  • Sorry to inform you, but the Counting Crows is the cover version. Joni did the original.

  • your kidding right!!!! You know she wrote this and she's the original singer

  • counting crows wasn't the original you idiot
