Perfectly fine to touch the barrel in NBHA competition. It just tends to slow things down.

@MagenEfron I think you're allowed to do that... or maybe it's pole bending, I'm not sure. Could be both, though. Of course, every competition organizer may change it in some way so I could be mistaken.

@TheHorseluvah Idk but in 4-H we get disqualified if we even try to attempt to touch the barrel or pole so it depends

i think she wouldve finished in like 3D b/c some of those girls run a 14 and then 15s then 16s
