Jean Carne is incomparable. As a young girl, my dad exposed me to the whole Norman Connors family of artists of which she, Phyllis Hyman, Michael Henderson and other greats were a part of. Knowing music like this, it's hard to listen to what's put out in today's market. If you like this song, you've got to hear her collaboration with Norman Connors entitled "Butterfly". It will blow you away.
From the overlooked classic "Trust Me" lp, this Jean Carn classic collection is still not released on CD...this heavenly gem is awesome! Bravo Jean and you are incredibly great!!!
iriear !!! EXPONENTIAL THANK YOU for this post....I have always loved minnie's "Come To My Garden" LP....(LP?...yes, i'm over 40)...Didn't know the great Jean Carne covered this...you taught me something, & I'm grateful !
Both ladies versions are exceptional! Minnie's version was done in what can be called a pop/opera mode (I guess Minnie precedes Sarah Brightman as popera queen), while Jean is done in a jazz/funky mode. There4 both are for different audience at different times. Both versions are GREAT!!!
This song is one of my favorites from Jean, I've been looking for it. Produced by the renown musician Norman Connors, it dislays Jean's awesome vocal talents, so smooth, classy, and sophisticated, her singing style epitomizes ellegance of the highest form. She definitely has never received the acclaim she so richly deserves, but I know her peers in music appreciate the depths of her endless talent, just a brilliant song from a brilliant songstress, even Thomas wouldn't doubt that fact!!
HELL YEAH!!

You are most welcome. You know Jean is into quality and this song is of such that she had to cover it on her only Motown album 'Trust Me.'

This comment has received too many negative votes show
this version lacks the innocence of minnies version and her voice is not as pure, but it's still ok i guess

Love Jean, but Minnie was a natural. Her flow just seemed so pure. Jean is still good though.
