I seem to remember you had a second video up, same visual material different song with a woman on vocals that was atleast more fitting, what was the song if you remember?
I remember hearing this back in 2007 when it had the original song and at 0:21 where Carl Anderson is reaching out really brought tears to my eyes, Ryan Adams was singing "Close your eyes, close your mouth."
So sorry they forced you to take out the original sound. Those people "protecting" music copyright are some pretty gross soul sucking slugs. Ended up muting this one and playing the original song from another YouTube video *sigh*
Can you tell me the name of the song you used and the artist as well please, before you changed it to this current one? I really grew accustomed to it.
It's strange how they included Ray Charles, whom I don't think was in any movies......yet this year's tribute did not include Michael Jackson. This year's also didn't include Ed McMahon, & I know I've seen him in a movie.
I said the the same thing, but Ray Charles was in the Blues Brothers in1980. They could've included Micheal Jackson too because he was in the Wiz and in Men In Black 2.
You were in a hurry, but it was very important to not only watch this video, but also comment on it. You must be quite a multi-tasker...but you're right, it takes a long time to type "in the 2009 one", instead of "too", which everyone should have automatically known meant the exact same thing. From now on, I'll assume people know everything that they don't happen to mention.
Ray was in The Blues Brothers which is considered a classic. I don't know about MJ or Ed because they are more closely associated with television, hence the emmy tribute.
Well, too bad they didn't let you keep Ryan Adams.... he's a brilliant artist and I can't imagine he would've been upset at his work being used here. Especially since there's no money being made from it...
The Fay Wray clip (2.5-2.55) is unforgettable-on the last frame of her she moves her head slightly giving the impression she is looking right and you and then smirks!
Well I'm glad it survived all these years-thanks for the info. Are you a member of Golden Age of Hollywood web site? Have a look-nice people and tons of interesting old photos, blogs etc.
It is sad that they got rid of the orginal, I will fully never undersetand the artists or youtube for this. It would be one thing if we were trying to sell our videos or something, then yeah there some problems but the fact we are getting their songs out there...completely and utterly stupid by the artists part.
Thank you anyways though schatze78 for putting these beautiful videos up that TCM does, they should be shared!
@CCA03 - It's not the artists. It is the RIAA, that is, the lawyers who own the corporations who own the record companies who own the artists. The artists don't have much if any say over how their material is used.
Didn't see this one before. Alas, the music is rather inappropiate for a memorial reel but I realize you had to put something in it's place. Did the original musician have it pulled here? I really didn't like TCM's film this time either, too "film noir" not poignant at all. Honestly, think it's the worst TCM memorial film with or without the original music but many thanks for putting it on youtube anyway.
The music choices they gave me were horrific. I can see why they give them out for free. They were either incredibly upbeat, dance music, big band, metal, or hard rock. Nothing remotely heartfelt. I also didnt have the option of putting outside music either. I hope whoever complained is happy. 2 years I had this up without problem. Youd think since it was unaltered from the original piece it would be ok since it was never for sale and the visual is acceptable. What can you do?
read the side bar. That got this whole segment deleted by youtube for copyright infringement. Someone reported it. If the original song goes back, they will delete the entire account, and no more TCM Remembers will be available.
can you tell me where can i find a TCM commercial aired maybe 2 years ago. there was many cuts from well-known movies and a lector saying things like - get ready, get mad, bet everything you have, loose all you got etc. (cant remember the words but it was cool)
This is the most beautiful tribute TCM ever made, IMO. I love Ryan Adams, and I thought the Christopher Reeve segment from "Remains of the Day" was so perfect.
It's sad that these great stars are gone, but it's also more than awkward that their clips are intercut with shots of sad slacks at a bar. What, is TCM sponsored by Budweiser?
It's interesting how they rarely show the very typical clips of people. Like Reeves as Superman, or expecting to see Fay Wray atop the Empire State Building. Glad they ended on Brando. He was so fantastic.

Did I say MJ died in 2004?
No I didn't.

You're right about Ed McMahon. He played George Segal's boss in the original "Fun with Dick & Jane".

Even though this isn't the original song for this commercial, I was wondering if this is Rebecca St. James singing. It sure sounds a lot like her.

That is just a matter of time. It took them about 2 years from when I put this up until they "silenced" the piece.

I for one think this song goes very nicely with the video-it grows on you big time. I particularly like the Alan King and the Ann Miller sequences.
