I'm not Jewish nor am I eastern European/Russian. Yet this movie had me doubling over in laughter and then crying a river. The book had the same effect on me. It's a film/novel that just rings out so many truths about life and love, no matter our ethnicity. I wish that more people knew of this amazing movie.

This is one of the most wonderful and important films EVER made...! But then, I love the Ukraine, and Russia...and Poland..ALL of the beautiful Slavic countries.... The Moldau river...lovely and alive, like the music...fabulous and spirited people..

This is the most beautiful song l have heard. It reminds me of when l was in russia, out in the country picking wild strawberries with my grandmother in the beautiful sun shining through the tall thick trees.

I cannot believe this movie received so little recognition - if not for my school I would have never known about it; it is one of the better movies I have ever seen, I loved it, absolutely loved it.... Especially if you're from that region, aka Ukraine, Poland, Russia, etc. this movie really gets to you...I'm from Poland, it did to me...

They really should do...but this production is too small!...they prefer giving oscars to mediocre films like "Avatar" but they don't notice this masterpiece!!
