There was some flattering lighting and cinematography to be sure, and the filmmakers dressed it up to look more 'period' for this scene. But that's pretty much what it looked like before the interior was unsympathetically stripped a few years later by the new owners.
Thank goodness for YouTube...the movie clips on here bring back so many wonderful memories of an awesome decade - the 80's..so many great films - this, the Indiana Jones films, Stand By Me, etc. .and we were still buyin' real records...simpler times for sure
@phantomlord54 True, true, good times. Saw this when it came out. Insane religious psychopaths weren't flying planes into city buildings back then, car bombs weren't exploding in innocent marketplaces - we've seen some bad bad changes in our time.
actually it was fixed up quite a bit.... most of it was closed down prior to filming. i thin kwhen they filmed, there were only a couple of buildings still open, with the central hub not being used... remember, passenger trains stopped using the terminal in 1979 (they opted for the Dick road station in Cheektowaga)...
I believe it was released in 84. There was a scene shot in the restaurant of a family friend which I remember, so it couldn't have been much earlier than that (I was 4 years old in 84)
