Personally, I just think the beat doesn't exactly match up with the tempo of the original song. Slow it down a bit, perhaps slip a bit more of the original instrumentals in the song. It just seems so fast for such a slick song.

The song is powerful with Nina Simone's voice because her voice has a certain blues, soulful characteristic attached. It's as if she's full of regret about her past, but it's a new dawn, a new day, a new life...for her.

The sad part is you are failing to see that any sort of interpretation of a song and introduce so many to a great performer. Found this Nina Simone mix this morning and loved it. Interesting visual rhythm woven & wrapped up with the pulse of the music - without overshadowing the beautiful Nina Simone herself. The only thing it could do without is the scenes with the couple dancing together - these add an unfortunate bit of cliche feeling and detract from the emotional complexity of the rendition. Thanks. there seems to be a trend to this style. mishal moore does similar work. i am a bit of a traditionalist. but people who like the cotton eye joe remix might not care for nina's. this is evolution of music. who is to say where it will go. long live freedom of expression!

I LOVE house music...I like music with a beat, but I have to say that this version is not the best.
The song is powerful with Nina Simone's voice because her voice has a certain blues, soulful characteristic attached. It's as if she's full of regret about her past, but it's a new dawn, a new day, a new life...for her.
What happened to this version is that it destroyed the soulfulness of the song. It took away the essense of the song away.

The song was already great as the words are uplifting. The impressive video is wonderful for the eyes. All the detail and colour got my attention. Its amazing that this song continues to be 'borrowed' and remixed in 2008. Its an homage to Nina. Including it into the modern cultural world of music means that the recreators of this song are really listening. Thanks I love it.

The sad part is you are failing to see that any sort of interpretation of a song and introduce so many to a great performer. This could lead to a whole legion of people appreciating such a prolific performer/artist by this one person's interpretation of a song. Ease up a bit and open your mind to the big picture. There have actually been a few very good remixes of this song that have kept the intergrity of this song and of Ms. Simone. Verve has done a great one. Peace.

Found this Nina Simone mix this morning and loved it. Interesting visual rhythm woven & wrapped up with the pulse of the music - without overshadowing the beautiful Nina Simone herself. The only thing it could do without is the scenes with the couple dancing together - these add an unfortunate bit of cliche feeling and detract from the emotional complexity of the rendition. Thanks. I thought this was awful, worse than awful, I'd like to find a way to ban it from my computer so I don't even accidentally ever hear it again. I wanted to like it, don't get me wrong. I listened to the whole terrible thing hoping to find some redeeming value. Barf. I'm hoping this is the FIRST try of somebody VERY YOUNG.
