I´m not in favour of Rios Montt for ideologic differences, nevertheless you have to think about the other side of the story. For those who don´t know many villages and towns where the majority of people are indigenous as well, created paramilitary armies so that they could fight the guerrilla. The guerrilla would burn entire villages, and even place bombs in buildings to terrify society. Rios Montt´s methods were not the most human, but effective in stopping the terrorism.

A statement like that denotes lack of knowledge on your behalf. Please inform yourself from some reliable sources that can potentially open your perspective.
