Since I only have a very small tattoo done by machine, I can't really compare it to my three hand made ones. It's a weird feeling getting this style. He doesn't just poke you like a machine, once the needle is in he pulls it out sideways, flicking it off. So the skin is lifted up. Stings a bit, but not as bad as my arm (also here on youtube).
Lg !
@MissAyela It refers to the design. You find stone carvings like this here in Sweden from that age. It's not impossible though that tattoos were made during that time using thorns from bushes or flint stones.
@hampussamuelsson Thanks for your reply, I'm doing an MA in early bronze age Irish ornamentation and body ornamentation (tattoos), hence my interest. Small metal awls or bone points were most likely used for tattooing here. I don't know much about the Swedish bronze age, sounds very interesting. Thanks again.
delighted to find this video! I have a fair bit of work done by Kai - Torc, full back wings, and work on my arm.. know him through reenactment (I'm also a viking reenactor), had the pleasure of visiting and staying with him and the loverly Rebekka twice in Germany. Kai is a wonderful artist, and a great bloke. His work is TOP notch!
Cool you liked it. I'm heading down to see him this weekend at ink festival. We'll do a viking showfight on Saturday. And I'll be there filming as much as I can.
my larger one was a surgical bone cutting plate, which i filed down a bit and screwed to the end of a shaft of hardwood, the smaller lighter one, just some tattoo needles, wrapped in cotton thread, and bound to a smaller piece of wood, then nail varnished to seal tight !
have to know whats the pain like with a tattoo done like that ? as i love this style of tattoo and would love to get one

Really nice finished tattoo, but can I ask is it the tattoo itself or the technique that is bronze age in style?
