And the doc contrasts nuanced independent sources including the Times. But it did get me thinking and I'm more skeptical that it needs to be in our water.

I am a nursing student, and recently we have read and reviewed several studies with Flouride. The amount in the water is not dangerous, if you look at the statistics it has actually improved dental health in the population since being added.
This is why I suggest always questioning your education. It has been scientifically proven that fluoride in water does absolutely nothing to help teeth. This has been proven on many occasions. Also a wide comparison of records across the world shows that fluoridated areas has the same if not better records than fluoridated areas.

@jacqhill Just to add on to what you mentioned. My dad is a dentist -I asked him why he and my grandmother (also a dentist) had crowns and fillings on most/all of their back teeth. He said it was because he didn't have fluoride in the water like we do where he grew up, and this contrast in dental health was not due to lack of personal hygiene or resources as they were well off. I see the difference in dental health with my family here in Canada and my family in countries w/out fluoride in water

@pgnraw1922 thats scary they taught this. the 'york report' which is the only reliable report funded by the Department of Health researched 100's of world wide studies. They found it inconclusive to add fluoride due to the poor quality of evidence on both sides and real problems with over exposure. Fluoride is an accumulative poison so after years of exposure can cause problems. Seeing as it's in the tea, various food and toothpaste I would rather it wasn't in the water as well.
@pgnraw1922 You need to look into the work of Dr. Phyllis Mullenix, lead neurotoxicologist at Forsyth Dental Center that came out to the public with her studies on fluoride damage to the brain & body as well as generational damage. She was then fired after she came out with what she found because they had new directors at Forsyth & did not want to fund for further research because they were then being funded by Colgate, so they ditched her to keep her from further spreading the knowledge.

I think people have this idea that if substance X is toxic at dose A then it is still somewhat toxic at dose 0.001A. This is true of heavy elements like mercury and lead which accumulate in the body over time. But many other so called "toxins" like arsenic, cyanide and chlorine are *perfectly* safe at lower doses.

When quoting tooth decay rates, you said that mainland Europe had lower rates than North America or something... but, you imply that only relating to flouride. When many other factors come into play such as lifestyle and foods.

There is shit loads of evidence showing fluoride is safe and effective for preventing tooth decay. Sure fluoride is a poison blah blah blah, anything and everything is a poison at high doses. Well the level of fluoride in the drinking water is not toxic, furthermore, since the introduction of fluoride into our drinking water, tooth decay has gone down significantly. I don't believe the government would put fluoride in drinking water for any negative reason.
@CEvolutionTV Well, I though this documentary was poorly made due to the uses of Scare words such as 'toxic', And one present one side of the story. This documentary lacked different opinions(handpicking people at start). Also, these is data saying that fluoride is beneficial, but at certain amounts, it didn't talk about any of these. Furthermore fluoride is disadvantageous above a certain concentration (and safe below). The point near the end about fluoride used for mind control is just folly.
I would reccomend doing your research very carefully. While your opinions on whether u think this doc is good or not is up to you, the information about fluoride is what you have to be careful when looking at. The word toxic is used because, the chemical compounds that make up the substance we use in fluoride are toxic, very very toxic. I would welcome additional peer-reviewed scientific studies that will add to the body of knowledge on the use and effects of fluoride.(there were only a handful of studies[most were from the same types of websites{fluoridealert etc..} found only relating to High fluoride exposure and mental problems in children).

everyone up in arms about fluoridated water, most people aren't aware that tea contains FAR more fluoride than water. anybody trying to raise awareness of the dangers of drinking tea? i know tea is not forced upon you by government but many of us brits drink up to 10 cups a day. i bet there are even people out there who have expensive water filters to eliminate the fluoride, then go and make a cup of tea with it.
When asked how flouride prevents caries in my dental hygiene class & posed the same question to my chemistry teacher (whose wife is a RDH) no one could answer. The ironic part is, I grew up in a non flouridated area and at the age of 31, no cavities, no fillings and gums in the condition that makes any hygentist jump for joy.

Unfortunately no. Boiling the water does not remove the fluoride. It only concentrates the fluoride into salts. The only way you could remove it involving boiling is if you were trapping the evaporation from the boiling process and then condensing it. This process is distilling water. You can buy distilled water from grocery stores.

What this video forgets to mention is that our bodies absorb the fluoride in the shower, and even more disturbingly our bodies seem to be amazing at absorbing flouride from the shower (you don't have to even get wet, absorb via vapour) rather than tap water. If memory serves correctly, we analyzed a case study of this in our environmental engineering class... not like we can do anything about it! The CDC says "For many years, panels of experts from different health and scientific fields have provided strong evidence that water fluoridation is safe and effective. Additional information on the NRC and its reports can be found on National Academy of Sciences (NAS) on Fluoride in Drinking Water." And the doc contrasts nuanced independent sources including the Times. But it did get me thinking and I'm more skeptical that it needs to be in our water.

I am a dental student on my last year. Have not seen any tooth decay from fluoride. I have seen alot of tooth decay from NOT using fluoride. I feel strongly that u have missunderstood the whole point. Ur "documentary" is totally free from statistics. we are talking ppm (parts per million) in drinkingwater and is of no risk. do u know toxic dose and proably lethal dose for F-?? guesse not. I am a nursing student, and recently we have read and reviewed several studies with Flouride. The amount in the water is not dangerous, if you look at the statistics it has actually improved dental health in the population since being added.

@jacqhill Just to add on to what you mentioned. My dad is a dentist -I asked him why he and my grandmother (also a dentist) had crowns and fillings on most/all of their back teeth. He said it was because he didn't have fluoride in the water like we do where he grew up, and this contrast in dental health was not due to lack of personal hygiene or resources as they were well off. I see the difference in dental health with my family here in Canada and my family in countries w/out fluoride in water

@pgnraw1922 thats scary they taught this. the 'york report' which is the only reliable report funded by the Department of Health researched 100's of world wide studies. They found it inconclusive to add fluoride due to the poor quality of evidence on both sides and real problems with over exposure. Fluoride is an accumulative poison so after years of exposure can cause problems. Seeing as it's in the tea, various food and toothpaste I would rather it wasn't in the water as well.

She was then fired after she came out with what she found because they had new directors at Forsyth & did not want to fund for further research because they were then being funded by Colgate, so they ditched her to keep her from further spreading the knowledge.

I think people have this idea that if substance X is toxic at dose A then it is still somewhat toxic at dose 0.001A. This is true of heavy elements like mercury and lead which accumulate in the body over time. But many other so called "toxins" like arsenic, cyanide and chlorine are *perfectly* safe at lower doses.
Studies show that consuming over 4mg of fluoride per day increases the risk of bone fractures. However, the amount of fluoride in tap water is usually only 0.5-1 mg/L.

Well the level of fluoride in the drinking water is not toxic, furthermore, since the introduction of fluoride into our drinking water, tooth decay has gone down significantly. I don't believe the government would put fluoride in drinking water for any negative reason.

@CEvolutionTV Well, I though this documentary was poorly made due to the uses of Scare words such as 'toxic', And one present one side of the story. This documentary lacked different opinions(handpicking people at start). Also, these is data saying that fluoride is beneficial, but at certain amounts, it didn't talk about any of these. Furthermore fluoride is disadvantageous above a certain concentration (and safe below). The point near the end about fluoride used for mind control is just folly.

I would reccomend doing your research very carefully. While your opinions on whether u think this doc is good or not is up to you, the information about fluoride is what you have to be careful when looking at. The word toxic is used because, the chemical compounds that make up the substance we use in fluoride are toxic, very very toxic. The data you find showing fluoride is beneficial at certain amounts is ONLY with calcium fluoride, totally different chemical compound. And if..

...you look carefully you will find that the benefits are actual just a lie. The more you research the more you will find that there is a hell of a lot more data showing fluoride damages your teeth than it does help them. Also, not covered in this doc, the amount of health related issues that are directly linked to fluoride is unbelievable. So we use fluoride for MAYBE a tiny benefit and damage the rest of our body? Makes no sense. Finally, the part with mind control, again...

@CEvolutionTV Support for fluoridation is based on studies(which have been going on for decades), thousands of studies, and the experience of hundreds of thousands of people. I would welcome additional peer-reviewed scientific studies that will add to the body of knowledge on the use and effects of fluoride.(there were only a handful of studies[most were from the same types of websites{fluoridealert etc..} found only relating to High fluoride exposure and mental problems in children).

.. do your research carefully, there is tons of studies and data showing what this does to the brain. Its a neurotoxin. If your not familiar with that, it means it attacks the neurons in the brain and damages them. This isn't a theory either,just do the research. Also check out the effects it has on the pineal gland, the thyroid and the hypothalemus. For one to even think for a moment that this stuff is ok for us just baffles me. But again that's what we have been fed to believe.

I'd be very interested to read the studies that prove that in typical usage situations it's more harmful than helpful, as well as it's effects on the brain (again, at typical usage levels). I believe this documentary was made for the weak minded(The ending was just so idiotic. Words cannot explain how silly that idea was.[seriously, I couldn't find any data relating mind-control and fluoride.{the idea is also quite outlandish.}] Who could've fallen for that?)

All Canada needs for these domino's to fall is to tip over Toronto. Send this video to any T.O residents -explain that the reason their hockey team never makes the playoffs is because of fluoridated water.

everyone up in arms about fluoridated water, most people aren't aware that tea contains FAR more fluoride than water. anybody trying to raise awareness of the dangers of drinking tea? i know tea is not forced upon you by government but many of us brits drink up to 10 cups a day. i bet there are even people out there who have expensive water filters to eliminate the fluoride, then go and make a cup of tea with it.

When asked how flouride prevents caries in my dental hygiene class & posed the same question to my chemistry teacher (whose wife is a RDH) no one could answer. The ironic part is, I grew up in a non flouridated area and at the age of 31, no cavities, no fillings and gums in the condition that makes any hygentist jump for joy.

Hey,
Unfortunately no. Boiling the water does not remove the fluoride. It only concentrates the fluoride into salts. The only way you could remove it involving boiling is if you were trapping the evaporation from the boiling process and then condensing it. This process is distilling water. You can buy distilled water from grocery stores.

The effects of Fluoride are in fact reversible - there is nothing inside the human brain that is not reversible -
Any one that is currently taking fluoride -
1. floss your teeth (10x better than brushing)
2. brush with bi-carb soda or goats milk soap - only
3. "Pureau" brand water for drinking.
i was exposed to fluoride (periodically) , it had no or little effect on me .
I have great teeth and can think critically

What this video forgets to mention is that our bodies absorb the fluoride in the shower, and even more disturbingly our bodies seem to be amazing at absorbing flouride from the shower (you don't have to even get wet, absorb via vapour) rather than tap water. If memory serves correctly, we analyzed a case study of this in our environmental engineering class... not like we can do anything about it! We can stop this if enough of us cared, protest just like in egypt.

In the industry they call fluoroisilic acid.. fluoride.. they call sodium silicofluroide .. fluoride.... and they call sodium fluoride... fluoride. That's what we use. They call the pollution created from the industries.. airbornes fluorides. They are all different mixes of compounds mainly containing fluoride.

No, they don't. They call fluorosilicic acid... fluorosilicic acid. They call sodium fluoride... sodium fluoride. They are completely different molecules. FLUORIDE (F-) is the only portion relevant to dental health, which is why we say "fluoridated water".

Yes, the fluoride is the common in all of these makeups. The fact is, plain old F- is 1000 times less toxic than the substances they use in our products. And yes, when they say "fluoride is in the water" they don't say "we put fluoriosilic acid int he water" they stick to just "fluoride.

Ionic bonds usually form to connect with fluorine (element 9) because of its seven outer electrons--a nearly full octet set of p-orbitals. It also tends to form molecules that are very electrically polar in behavior.
Oxidation happens when a molecule loses an electron, & that is exactly what fluorine tends to do when it comes in proximity to any molecules. Oxidative stress is in effect premature cellular aging.
