  • Why make a record attempt at a small venue in Belgium, with only pacesetters and no competition ? A great day for american distance running ? Really ? This run is Webb in a nutshell.. Excellent times when there's nothing on the line. Webb's been a no show at the World's and at the Olympics, The American 1500/miler that can run heats and medal( 3rd at the 2011 WC, in hot/humid weather), the stud to look for in London, is Matt Centrowitz !

  • "Alan Webb 3:53 in high school"

    FUCK

  • I wanna race this dude my mile time was 4:12.

  • @guillenforever You would lose.... terribly

  • "He did it all by himself"?!?!?!?

  • Poor Steve Scott!!! His ghost will never find any peace now!

  • Do NOT bust a nut over an AR. Especially if you're the commentator.

  • I met Steve Scott at a track camp in california

  • I met Scott this summer. My XC/Track Coach was Steve's coach at Arizona State

  • If they have pacers can it still be a legitamite record?

  • @artkellner every record is paced

  • I wouldnt say the American record sucks balls. However, it can definitely be improved. The bottom line is that the mile is not run very often. I think anyone who has run under 3:30 in the 1500 can run under 3:46 for the mile. Sydnee Maree, Seb Coe, and Steve Cram could have definitely run much faster to name a few for their mile PR's. Its never easy though setting up the perfect conditions and pacing for the mile. Cheers to Alan Webb for raising the bar here!! He was a beast in his prime!!

  • You've gotta admit, the american record sucks balls. We're still over 3 full seconds away from the world record.

  • Steve Scott is a ghost!!!!! call Ghostbusters!!!!

  • Alan Webb annihilated Steve Scott into oblivion!!!

  • Poor Steve Scott!!!

  • This is the type of thing that makes all the hairs on your body stand on end :)

  • The commentators voice gets so damn squeaky at the end.

  • Impresive but still just an American record. He just can't compete with the big names though. His career is a bit of a wate of talent. Bad coaching and injury prone.

  • @JahRastafariLives 3 seconds off WR. He can compete with the best.

  • Will the real Alan Webb please stand up? He's been in hiding these couple of years.

  • Poor Steve Scott, so tragic he died.

  • @Zaxxen69 He's still alive he is currently 55 years old check wikipedia or google it lol

  • @zephead1969 i think that Zaxxen69 was thinking of Steve Prefontaine instead lol

  • @44514boy could be haha well he did say "ghost of steve scott" a lot in the video so it might have been misleading but he was only talking about the pace steve scott ran when he set the American record not that steve scott was actually dead

  • @zephead1969 he's 28

  • @saxplayer579 alan webb is 28 but we were talking about steve scott who is 55 someone had thought that he had died

  • @zephead1969 55? hes 29 years old

  • @ChrisF1337 i think they're talkin bout steve scott.. lol

  • @ChrisF1337 we were talking about steve scott not alan

  • I totally agree that this was the perfect time for Alan Webb to break the American Record for the mile. The mile is one of the only recognized "non-metric" distance races. I think Alan Webb's coach claimed that other track meets were not wanting to run the mile, only the 1500 meters. It was good that they were able to set up a small meet of their own. In fact, a lot of world records are run at low key meets and not like the Olympics or other big meets.

  • 6:50 IGNORED

  • what a retard! why would anyone set an american mile record abroad with zero audience! Epic Fail

  • @soggysausage Yeah for real. What a dummy

  • @soggysausage no pressure though

  • @turniptod12 lol

  • @soggysausage no drug testing at that little meet perhaps? lol

  • weird seeing so few people in the crowd for an event like this

  • @Augmen1 actually it's pretty normal ;)

  • Not a bad way to do it. Small meet, out of the media glare. Two good rabbits out in front, and run your guts out.

  • This is just amazing.
