  • gives me goosebumps never dies this music

  • was thinking about poor old molly falling off the ladder,, and this song came to mind.. classic.

  • he was born in 1949? I find that hard to believe he was 20 years than me!! 80's song,,, I was in my late teens, I find it hard to believe he was late 30's!

  • So sad about Steve's death. If memory serves me right, his crashed car lay undiscovered for a few days, hidden down a bank, out of sight from passing motorists.

  • The greatest rock band New Zealand ever produced...............

  • @EoNzHD So true. Great song. Listening to words, the lead singer clearly understands about this issue and had the gutz to bring it to the public forum. Gratz to him.

  • I agrea with Craego. This was one of the best bands flowing thru the world at the time. The UK had PLENTY of bands, but we had some REAL quality kicking on, and you could see them at your bigger locals and RSL's.

  • i love this

  • Have always enjoyed this song, it is a pity that Steve Gilpin is no longer with us.

  • I grew up on this and Computer Games.....such great memories.

  • Only 18 but I love Mi-Sex, have all their albums :) My dad was a fan of them when he was a teenager in the late 70s/early 80s, he won Graffiti Crimes in a pub quiz he took part in

  • My what feeling Steve expresses in his singing. His voice always just oozed emotion no matter what he was singing. The whole band actually, ALL played and sang straight from the heart and it made their live act just something jaw-dropping to behold. Truly one of the greatest NZ and/or world bands ever. They were equal to or better than any act in the world at the time IMHO.

Remembering seeing them performing just sends chills up my spine again.

    RIP Steve,

    You are sorely missed mate.

  • This song is so powerful. Love Mi-sex .

  • Beautiful song. That's it. Grew up on it. LOVE IT FOR EVER!!

  • only a cockhead would dislike this song!!!!!

  • Its actually about a fight a band member had with his wife. And there're still together!!

And it wasn't written by the lead singer. Fact.

  • Beautiful song, their stand-out for me. Timeless. Met Steve an he was a lovely guy.

  • Computer Games a great song. This song is the one that shows what a band can produce other than mainstream. This shit rocks

  • Love this song has to be one of my favourite Mi-Sex songs. I'm Steve's sister and for the last couple of months I've been trying to get in contact with MrMaca1987 via his email on utube but wih no luck - if anyone knows him please let him know I am trying to contact him - LENMAN2011 we most likely know each other also.

  • @CathyGilpin your brother is a true legend, his music lives in me and so many others, this song makes me feel so much better after a hard day.

  • @CathyGilpin R.I.P for your brother Steve. I've always been a Mi-sex fan eversince they released computer games.Seen the band so many times in Melbourne, have all their albums. I currently live in Greece at the moment, and I've played their albums to alot of friends up here and I've converted alot of them to Mi-sex and they can't get enough. He had a unique voice that really stood out.Love every thing about this band.

My favourite song would have to be 'But you don't care', Take care Cathy.

  • Greatest song ever. Yes they had mullets and dressed daggy but they could sing, and no bloody auto tune!

  • classic song!!!

  • MI-SEX playing in Melbourne April 24th '2011 CHRISTCHURCH QUAKE RELIEF CONCERT'

  • thanks brah. Memories last.

  • Things are not arranged the way they should be..how true about life...what a great song to console oneself with..

  • RIP: Steve Gilpin

  • It' a nice song

But too bad that the singer.. at least.. is a satanist

    @ 2:06

  • @StiGisSim0 hes not you god bothering moron, the devil horns sign is the internatonal sign of rock and roll, steve gilpin is now in heaven where god intended him to be, he didnt go to hell because he didnt go to church every sunday and confess his sins just to go and commit them again like most of you brainwashed lapdogs do. show the man some respect.

  • @preludefan You know where he's gone.. and what God intends.. and how not go to hell... !?

I'm gonna get down on my knees for he's idolatrous.. fanatic.. satanist.. international stupidness.. just to find some oxygen because of laughing so much [...]

  • @StiGisSim0 yeah, whatever buddy, hes not a satanist, infact, hes as much a satanist as you are a good person just because you go to church

  • @preludefan Now somehow.. you know that I go to church...

    As I was saying...

  • What an awsome song from a great band.

This is my fav song of all time, its a moving song with timing changes and haunting key changes.with a nice catchy melody.

    RIP Steve Gilpin.

  • My mum dated Steve Gilpin in the mid 70s. She meet him in Palmerston North. I was about 3 or 4 years old. They meet at The Hotel Majestic. This was before Mi Sex became well knowen, Tanyia.

  • @mrmaca1987, sorry to hear about your father, a great man, great band, and will always be legends both here in Oz and in NZ. Have you tried past band managers, band members, record companies? Or the media? How about getting in contact with 'Molly'? Hope you find what you are looking for.

  • Some of the earliest lyrics about depression and mental illness, plus a great tune! Thanks Steve Gilpin

  • the sound is really low, can u put it on loud then paste it

  • g,day i am not sure if anyone has any information about steve gilpin's family where abouts, I would like to get in contact with them. I am steve's son born in 1987 in melbourne. I am not after anything besides just a bit more personal background about my father. if any information that can help please comment back thank you.

  • @mrmaca1987

2nd messageThis may be a start .My family knew his sister in a North Shore suburb of Auckland in the late 70s early 80s /She was i think married at the time .I was in my late teens. I may be able to find out where she headed after that.I hope that offers some possibility . Your father hosted a great nz band who wrote classic songs .I will make an inquiry and update .If you see this let me know and I can find a way to send her first name and maybe other data?? by private email

  • @danko1969 That is just honestly, the best thing I have read today xxxxx Awesome.

  • 1986 - Luna Park in Sydney. A dark and rainy day......year 12 trip to unwind. Catherine Powell and all the teenage angst I could handle. God I loved her and this song.

  • Lead singer: Steve Gilpin - BORN 1949 - DIED: January 6, 1992

In November 1991, while driving from a gig at Coolangatta, Gilpin was involved in a car accident, sustaining serious head injuries that left him in a coma. He never recovered, and died in Southport Hospital on Queenland's Gold Coast on 6 January 1992, aged 42.

    R.I.P. Steve

  • @emily555a I shed a tear reading this. Join my memorial site on face book

  • Excellent song!!! I love it- RIP Steve Gilpen, a tragic loss:)

  • "where do they go". You do not get albums like that anymore. Every song literally a hit. Sound so clear and concise. Way ahead of it's time and yet it lacks the recognition it truly deserves. Time to re release and introduce a whole new generation to a work of art.

  • Wow!

Must be a buzz to have a former rocker star as a teacher.

    Awesome band!

    Long live the 80s!

  • Steve Gilpin remained in Australia and worked with a number of bands including Under Rapz. In November 1991, Steve was involved in a car accident in Australia, while returning to his home after a gig in Coolangatta. He lapsed into a coma from which he never recovered. He died in Southport Hospital on 6th January 1992.

  • I remember seeing Mi-Sex last concert, I was there. On radio it said Steve died in car accident.

  • THIS SONG MAKES ME FEEL LIKE GASSING MYSELF IN MY CAR !

  • @MbootwoKcoonie thats grim mate

  • @MbootwoKcoonie Well...you are an idiot because you don't get it!!

  • @57Mssunshine leave him alone the song has that effect on you if i had a pistol now i'd blow my brains out fcking lifes shit .

  • @aussiebluemax Hope you don't get a pistol then. Steve is saying that it is a blue DAY....he's trying to shake it off so trying to thinking positive. At least you have a life,he doesn't! We all have those times......tomorrow can be better.

  • @bellanita Ho i miei giorni buoni e giorni brutti ma migliaia theres come me che vivono con una sorta di depressione

  • Brings back memories :-)

  • brilliant song mi sex !!! love it

  • extremely underrated band, one of the great songs

  • Some days are good but some are summed up in this song

  • Comment removed

  • "its hard to make believe every day, things are not always the way they should be"- so true- rip steve

  • Love this band

  • They used to do a ripper version of "Get a Grip on Yourself" live, pitty it never made it to vinyl..... but great memories at the Civic,Stagedoor & Royal Anter among many others....

  • I still remember the day he died in that car accident i was living at Kirra it was a rainy day on the North Coast and i thought what great loss those Barstards have got him!

  • Wow did not realise this was a kiwi song

  • Thinking about it last night, there was also another guitarist right at the end . Colin Bailey (? not sure if I have gotten the right surname). I cant remember if he replaced Kevin or was an add on.

  • Also show me the proof there was ever a Robert Taylor in the band. Keyboard player was always Murray Burns. Steve Gilpin, Don Martin Kevin Stanton, Murray Burns the only change I remember was the drummer. Richard Hodgkinson I think was the first then he was replaced by Paul Dunningham(?). I followed them like a love sick teenager, I would have heard that name at least once I would have thought.

  • I miss them. Was so in love with the band. Met them a few times, did a car chase after a concert but lost them. Went to the servo to fil up and they were at the bowser next to me, was funny!! 80s were great could go to the local pub and see a top 10 charting aussie band for $10. Nowadays you have to pay $100+ to sit in a massive stadium and watch flies on a stage miles away! We had it good and had great bands to choose from. Though Mi-Sex was by far the best in my books!

  • what can you say! fantastic! this was the era when music meant something. glad i grew up in that time. joffa58

  • sweet song

  • love this song

I think the singer died in a car accident in the early 90's

  • Weren't MiSex Kiwis? Still a good band.

  • i was sixteen and in love , i have never seen her again she stays wit me

  • omg, the drummer (paul dunningham)

    is my drum teacher xD

  • "Shanghaied, Computer Games, Down The Line and on Countdown "But you don't care" Robert Walter Taylor was in videos with Mi Sex from 79-81as the piano player and the keyboard player. Later went to the us of a and was the DJ for WUFF Radio "The Aussie"

  • Am confused here. I love the music, saw the band in Melb & Syd several times. I did a search for Robert W Taylor and no one came up. Checked the Mi-Sex website and am sorry no mention of Robert Taylor. Am no idiot but the guy doesn't get a mention on the band website.

Folks this needs to be sorted mistaken ID happens its a part of life. So is he alive and kicking or not??

  • See Wikipedia.

The man in the videos 79-81 is Robert Walter Taylor. When the current events stories were done, Murrey Burns was the song writer and keyboard player noted. Steve Gilpin MiSex: 1978-1984. So "The Aussie" former sound engineer, former DJ at WUFF Georgia & at Big Bear Colorado and former piano keyboard player for MiSex 79-81 died Jan 2010.

  • No sorry... Murray Burns

  • Sorry dubbo, but wrong Robert Taylor, You Robert Taylor is with The Dragons and Murrey Burns was not the only keyboard player for MiSex. The studio band did the instrumentals for the CD; but if you check for keyword searches of Murrey Burns photos, he does not match the video and live countdown performances of the piano and keyboard player...see youtube

  • Murray Burns with an "A". I guess it doesn't matter though.. It was awesome music hey...

  • How did this not make the news?? RIP Robert.... one my my fav all time tunes, I spent 3 years looking for this mp3 a long time ago - such a timeless classic.

  • Thanks MiSexThe AussieFan.

  • Brings back some great memories and great times.

  • How did Robert Taylor die?Great song thanks for posting.

  • Hilux1968 Robert fell while working and broke some ribs, injured his kidney and lung, he was recovering, had a heart attack the day he was to be released. I was told a valve had died and half his heart was dead, amazing he worked so hard in that shape. A doctor would not know it was a broken heart.

  • Sorry but the Keyboard player in Mi-Sex is alive and kicking. His name is Murray Burns the one and only keyboard player. Robert Taylor was in a band called Dragon and is also alive...

  • Far better music than the trash on the radio these days....

  • RIP Robert Taylor, passed away 16th Jan 2010. The keyboard player from Mi-Sex.

  • Wow. Thankyou for sharing. This reminds me of my dad. He loved Mi-Sex.

Crazy how a song I haven't heard since I was a little girl can bring me to tears.

    Thanks again.

  • cant get over how much this sounds like david gilmour

  • cool

  • top tune a thumbs up...

  • I remember when this song came out.. loved it then, love it now.. they were THE BEST times.. miss them heaps ..

  • A big thanks for uploading this clip.

  • I can remember walking to school singing this song in my head. It's a great song.

  • i loved mis-sex

  • he was my brothers best mate..........

  • This is also my favorite Mi-Sex song. They were a great band. Thanks for posting.

  • this is my fave mi sex song

  • yes steve died in a crash coming home from a party in bundaberg...my home town

  • @bradr61 - St eve Gilpin died in a car accident on the way home from a gig at Coolangatta, not bundaberg

  • Another interesting fact about Steve Gilpin is that he was a folk artist before Mi-Sex.

I bet not many NZers or Aussies knew that.

  • thanks for info on steve

  • You're welcome bondsee. :)

  • your an honey woodrat !!!

  • If you say so, bondsee LOL.

  • anytime doll !!!

  • I appreciate at 2.07 he does the metal sign \m/...

Came back from work feeling sick and listening to this makes me feel just that much better. I grew up in Oz during this time and it definitely was a magical era when great bands were coming out of the woodwork and Mi Sex were definitely one of them.

  • Their Guitarist Kevin Stanton taught at the music division of Tafe in South Brisbane back in the middle 90's. He was/is a very nice man.

  • Classic! Rock On...

    Good bye pork pie...

  • LOVE this song!!!

So we lost Steve so early :-(

  • yep good song!!!

  • Lead vocalist:

    Steve Gilpin (1949January 6, 1992)

    RIP

  • I sit at my desk over looking darling harbour - today like many days i have my mp3 player in my ears and listen to Mi-Sex - i used to watch them live at Selinas at Coogee Bay pub early 80's - a great band and Steves departure from this world was far too soon - rock n roll everyone

  • @smithpf1 Hey Mate, couldn't agree more...I grew up in Maroubra (Hannan St just off Snape Park) and then moved to Moverly Rd just off Maroubra High and saw great bands at Selinas, the Choirboys to Roxus. Mi Sex were in the limelight, not really HUGE but nonetheless, made an impact. Sad that Steve passed away so suddenly.

Now living in London with my family and listening to this track, it brings back fond memories.

  • A very deep and sad song of how life can get someone down and difficult for those around them to understand or get through.

Reading wikipedia, Steve was in a horrible car accident, lapsed into a coma and died.

So sad, I'm an Aussie from Maroubra, NSW and grew up with them. Now living in London with my family, the 80s were a magical of bands continuously churning out one better hit after the other.

    Thanks for posting the video.

  • @5150VanAlien

Wikipedia is wrong. Steve Gilpin of Mi-Sex died in a car accident in 1994. Wikipedia has made a lot mistake on Australian singers. They were wrong about Billy Thorpe.

  • @5150VanAlien Wow- is also from Maroubra went to South Sydney High-saw a few bands at Selinas - I had no idea that happened-very sad indeed

  • @kell0069 Hey there, I went to Maroubra Junction infants then primary. Finished 6th class in 82. Then went over to Bondi to a Catholic boys school. I grew up near Snape Park then we moved near to Maroubra Junction High (now a French school I believe). I live in the UK now and miss Oz. When Mi-Sex wrote this, I really enjoyed it. I was fortunate to grow up in the 80s. Magical times. Thanks, take care.

  • @5150VanAlien i thought they were kiwis.........but you steal heaps of our stuff,Russel Crowe,Phar Lap,and Dragon the list goes on....

  • @dopeke20 When did I say they were from Oz? And why turn this into a 'you stole from us' debate. Everyone knows they were from NZ. The fact is that their music hit the Oz shores and were celebrating a time of great memories, youth and innocence. So relax!

  • @5150VanAlien Yeah; I agree - sometimes Kiwi horses, actors and musos have to race/act/play/record here to get noticed; but that's only because NZ has a small population. Just like I left Newcastle for more culture and choice in Sydney; though everyone I've known calls me a Novocastrian. Any mildly intelligent Aussie recognises this; and backs the Kiwis knowingly and accordingly.

  • @stuartk319 Not really, their music spread to several countries because they wrote and performed quality material. I mention Oz only because I grew up there so I'm sharing my experiences of a great band during a great era that I was fortunate enough to experience. Can we stop turning this into a NZ and (or -v-) OZ discussion and just enjoy their music and mourn the loss of their lead singer.

  • @5150VanAlien Of course. I did forget to mention how good they were, as well.

  • ya can keep russ, but stop claiming our kiwi bands aye ockers

  • @jaymenkelvy1 Hey stop knocking the ockers...

    They can't help stealing stuff..

They were a colony of crims.. It's in their blood.. ☺

  • my brother was mates with Steve, when my brother died Steve told me that a lot of this song influenced by my brother.. Steve was such a lovely man.. such a sad loss for the music industry... RIP Jeffrey and Steve together again...

  • yeah they were a good kiwi band i love this song, any idea what happened to the rest of the band

  • don is my boss lol

  • how did the lead singer die ???

  • In a car crash, unfortunately.

  • @bondsee Steve was coming home from a gig in Tweed Heads, went off the road on a curve crashed into a tree. Was taken to Southport (Qld.) Hospital were he was on life support for 7 weeks, he died Jan. 6, he was not yet 42, born 28 4 50 not 1949.
