  • @Skuldrox Glee will never be beytiful they are auto tunned pieces of shit and if you like music listen to the original

  • Great song & fantastic movie.

  • First movie i ever watched late at night when i was in jr high

  • CLASSIC MOVIE! The song always made me cry..

  • thank you for posting this clip from the movie!

  • Aw I love this movie, I'm so glad the clip was posted :)

  • Fantastic movie, & Song,

  • I love Glee, but I saw this movie LONG before Glee was even an idea. Woohoo. =)

  • @SingingDivaLR Yes, but Glee clubs were around LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG before this movie was ever around...

  • ta mate LueybeaBEAST is a yank that explains everything

  • this film is so utterly far fetched and the east london accents suck @xandy1959 you were right

  • Didnt she marry one of the BeeGees?

  • @poortogee77

She was married to Maurice from 69-73.

  • this is gonna be our graduation song :’)

  • My love of British films and Sidney Poitier. TO SIR WITH LOVE.

  • 0:06 looks like Penny Marshall

  • @alayna729 It absolutely does not. They have great vocal talent and the music is much prettier. You can't say this sounds better.

  • FUCK GLEE...this is the real shit!

  • @elsoda Unless you heard the glee version you can't say that. the vocals are way better, and so are the acoustics.

  • It is obvious to me that God placed His favorite children on the earth in 1953.

  • This is one of my all time favourite films its a magic trip and is full of laughs and emotions takes me back to my school days. but for me the way LULU sings and phrases the song hits me right where it turns on the strings love it and Mr poitiere is a class actor good film

  • The book on which this was based was 100 times better. The kids were much younger than they're portrayed in the film. They were under 15 years old. The story also takes place in 1948. Many of the kids had lost relatives in WWII.

The book also goes into more detail about his personal life, and his relationship with the teacher in this scene.

  • The glee version is amazing. I don't even like glee, but I heard it and LOVED it. This just sounds like shat.

  • @ichbineincoolcat

Haha actually the Glee version sounds like "Shat".

  • De los momentos memorables, éste es uno de ellos, primero la película a los 15 años de edad, después, visitar estos lugares 35 años después. y del Museo Británico, ni que decir: uno de los más importantes del mundo y sobre todo, la entrada es gratuita. Felicidades

  • Going to the museum was very transforming for the students.

  • 3:19 the girl in the middle, the redhead, is the one singing this song :)

  • Im glad I heard this on Glee and looked this up, this lady can sing scores better than Lea Michelle-she's got great soul!

  • @randomlyfresh23 Gtfo lea michelles vocal talent is ridiculous. This lady is a basic singer.

  • Perfect. I love this song and this one seemed more complete. I love this movie. They need to make movies like this one. This a classic and it is powerful and life changing. Well done. I wish the movies made today were like this. I am not going to see the movies at the movie theater, because they are mulgero. The music fits this movie so... perfectly. I love art, museums, and beauty. I spent most of my life in church, with family, school, the library, gardens, home, work, praying, and museums.

  • this is lulu from the sixties love her more xxxxxx what the fuck is glee/????some kind of american orgasam???? that wont take long????????

  • You know, if it weren't for covers of old songs like this, who in the future would find these songs and enjoy them? It would be a generation lost forever.

  • class song my daddy always played it :)

  • England, before they were invaded by Paki's and Arabs.

  • @sixtiesforever1966 Your racist garbage is offensive. By "the early 1960s" you mean a time when only the straight, white, middle and upper class man had rights.

  • Comment removed

  • @sixtiesforever1966 What a jerk. Maybe you think they should have replaced Sidney Poitier with some white guy.

  • @mikebenda Did I say black men or woman? I said illegal aliens from third world countries

  • @thunderlips350 Are we the only people that think we are being invaded by aliens from third world countries? mikebenda above thinks our comments are racist, look at his picture on his home page

  • great moovie!

  • when did this movie actually come out?

  • @arubajo - Released in 1967.

  • This song is so tender. I tear up everytime I hear it. My dad took me to the drive-in to see this movie when it came out. It was a groundbreaker in so many ways. Sidney Poitier was brillant. Love it!

  • @Jewels1573 It would have been better to show the scene in the movie where this was actually sung...

  • Beautiful song! I listened to Glees version and wanted to hear the original. I see a lot of people are getting pissed at Glee fans and I don't get why. Maybe we found out about the song from glee, but don't you think it's great that Glee is introducing us younger generations to the classics that we'd never pay attention to otherwise? I do, please don't get mad at us, most of us aren't even insulting the original we're just stating that both Glees and the originals are beautiful.

  • @Skuldrox I'm not even remotely interested in Glee, but I am inclined to agree with you. Sometimes classics have to be repackaged in a more contemporary way, at risk of being lost forever otherwise. I'd much rather have people know this song through Glee and go on to watch the movie (one of my favorites, no less) than have this classic mouldering away in a film tin in some back shelf.

  • @Skuldrox I'm 60, and I think Glee is terrific. Just as you say, it introduces many generations to songs they otherwise would never hear, and I'm all for it. Don't pay any attention to those old fuddy duds!

  • my favourite movie song (& one of my favourite movies) !!!

  • a truly dreadful film bad accents far fetched plot.this clip somes it up working class kids looking forward to visting a museum give me a brake

  • @xandy1959 ye know, when movies were good, they didn't need teen pregnancy or reality tv to keep people interested. this is about real people, in the 60s. times were different and WAY more respectful. in my opinion music was better, and as were movies. like you've never had fun at a school trip to a museum? please, give ME a brake

  • @LueybeaBEAST Yes, I was among five other girls in high school and all of them were having sex, except me. Because I was brought up believing you should not have sex until marriage. That did not matter, because you should chose your own way any how.

  • @1961gj that doesn't pertain to our comment conversation..i don't care if you have sex or not

  • @LueybeaBEAST do you realize this movie dealt with pregnancy, racism, gutter logic, burning used mentrual pads in the burning oven? did you actually watch this movie?

  • @siobhansdaughter of course I watched the movie, and of course i know this. But was that the MAIN point? no. It was love for the teacher. That was the main message. That they loved this man by the end and hated him at the beginning. that this man changed their lives and they're better people for that.

  • @xandy1959 *break. a brake is something that stops a car. #SMH

  • @xandy1959 We can all tell that you are a person of culture and a connoisseur of fine movies with your insight. You must have had NASCAR on your mind, where they only turn one way and don’t brake. Please give us a break and critique only the movies that you know something about - like Talladega Nights.

  • should have won an Oscar but 1967 was a tough year lot of competition for best movie it was nominated but didn't win I think it was up against The Graduate,Bullitt, and I forget the other two

  • @MissMelanie2006 if i could vote it would be SO close to The Graduate! i love them both!

  • 1:51 Ginger Beer: queer. Hahaha! They could tell it like it is back in the Free 1960's, before Political Correctness. Laughter at the ridiculous, and unrestrained...

  • @Dracopol Thanks! You are so right about the free 60's I can see this by some of the comments here because people complain about their countries being invaded by illegals from third world countries, and others call them racist

  • @LetItBeFormerlyX WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

THIS IS COMMENTS TO THE MOVIE "TO SIR WITH LOVE!"

  • this is such a lovely song

  • All modesty aside I think I caused the visitation curve to steepen lately.

I've proposed the word queer is irrelevant now but must never never be

    used again.

I've proposed we just try relying on reason with your children so as to help them grow, for they are your equals. They're in fact growing faster than you did (if you're my age.) I've proposed why that is.

For me, a former atheist, transformation means growing scientifically, morally and

historically. Evolution w/o survival of fittest

  • i can't believe anyone would have issues with Lulu's voice. the 1st time i saw this & heard her voice i was blown away, even to this day. beautiful voice & rendition of a sentimental, lovely song. ~infinity thumbs up~

  • I watched this film with my mum when I was about 7,I still watch it whenever it's on now,20 years later, ageless classic, and Eric pollards in it!

  • Perhaps one of the greatest black actors of his time and all time. Sidney Poitier really gave a performance of a lifetime with this movie. This song really compliments Mr. Poitier's talent on stage. Bravo sir.

  • This is a lovely song. Yes, I heard it with Glee first and I think they did a wonderful job. In the context of the show it was so emotional and it made me cry. I wanted to hear the originally version. It's even better. I'm sure with the context of the movie it must have made people cry as well. It's a very very beautiful song. It's not really the voices that I even love, it's the meaning behind it.

This song made me think of my dad. Thank you. To sir, with love~

  • I love this movie. And the song. It's so good. I love the version Glee did too, because it meant something in that show too. It's really nice..

  • The best movie of all times!!!

  • Thank you for this!!! One of The Best Movies...Ever!!!

  • eric pollard?

  • this was done when there was no electronic hype or lip sync , try that now

  • Why must Glee continue to tarnish the reputation of quality songs by causing teeny-boppers to post that they just found out about them BECAUSE of the damn show? I know that was a long sentence, but I meant every word. You guys really need to stop.

  • Has always been a cool song!

  • What movie is this?!

  • @Sclobbi umm to "sir with love" haha

  • I wonder if we have to grow up and transform ourselves.

  • My friends and I sang this to our homeroom teacher on Graduation the other day. My heart broke when he cried.

  • @taylor13loveswift I think you've been watching too many movies

  • @taylor13loveswift You've been watching too much of that glee crap you liar

  • @paulallan1000 I can't vouch for this person, but glee was in NO way original in singing this song to their teacher at a time like that. To Sir With Love has been sung/played or whatever to, like, EVERY beloved teacher to ever retire or see a class to graduation since it was released. Me and my sister sang it four years before glee to one of ours and I am 100% positive we weren't the only ones to beat glee to the punch. If it wasn't such a beautiful damn song, it'd be trite, it's so popular.

  • @paulallan1000 Why the hell would I lie? Bitch.

  • great song, and boy, were suzy kendall and judy geeson a couple of fly ladies.

  • the original will always be the best!

  • Love this movie, and this scene was magical --quite revolutionary in its time.

  • @ilovezoe98 THIS MOVIE SHOWS WHAT HAPPENDS WHEN TEACHERS TAKE TIME TO REALLY TRY AND UNDERSTAND STUDENTS-I HAD TEACHERS LIKE THAT WHEN I WAS GROWING UP-EXCELLANT MOVIE-SIDNEY POITIER IS A GREAT ACTOR

  • classic

  • Wot de hell is glee?Didnt know much about this film til i heard it recently on bbc radio two.Great story.Pity Poitier didnt have more of West Indian accent tho.in orignal hes supposed to come from Guyana. And for you Americans that that is in de Carribean!

  • i like the glee cover better, sorry

  • I loved this movie so much but forgot about it until I saw that Glee episode. :)

  • "To Sir With Love" is a brilliant song and the movie was great...It's one of the best songs I've ever heard...I bet this song is a favourite with many teachers as well, particularly the male ones...They should do a remake of this movie, with Denzel as the lead character and with Kylie Minogue singing "To Sir With Love".

  • The word queer is used but is irrelevant now. But it must never never be used again. The fear of being wrongly ferreted out as gay is the fear of fascism. • super glee fan here! And this song made my mom one too! She saw me watching glee and heard this song and she could not believe it. Now she's more of a gleek than me!

  • This was a very well-done film by James Clavell (who also wrote most of "The Great Escape") because it covers this school subject without once getting corny. And it takes skill to do that.

  • Note how the students heads/faces often look like the faces of the statues.

  • good memories

  • boas lembranças

  • cattle trucked, means fucked, thats geordie slang

  • What a great song!

  • I'll be darn, it's Cockney slang 1:32 they used it in the kids show "The Bugaloos" too.

  • One of the gr8est movies, and love this song

  • My Math teacher has just passed... He was the closest person I had to a grandfather. =(

  • My Math teacher has just passed... He was the closest person I had to a grandfather. =(

  • can someone upload the whole movie. i would love to watch it :)

  • I grew up in this era and this movie pretty closely resembles what life was like. However, in the US, my school was the opposite. All black with a few whites.

  • oh pls...its not the actors that matter in glee silly...its the songs...im not crazy about the cast that much im telling you that...and yes we should be gratefull that these songs have been sang by the new generations becuz it means that the music that was so long ago loved by so many is now loved by the new ones who never got the chance to hear them...like this song...side from endle love etc...there are other songs in glee that were forgotten by many...

  • This is my mums favourite movie, used to watch it on tape when i was a kid. I've never even seen glee.

  • Horrible movie. Fantastic song.

  • Don't get me wrong, I love Glee, but NOTHING beats the original version of this song, sung by Lulu. This movie is a classic.

  • Nothing to do with glee, for me, but there's this one riff in the theme from "Little Bear", the cartoon that always triggers this song to play in my head.

  • To: All In The U.K.

If you grew up in the city of New York or in the suburbs of Long Island, Westchester etc. in the mid 1960s, we were more plugged into England than the U.S. That era is sadly long gone; another civilization "Gone With the Wind"

  • I came here because I used to watch this movie with my grandparents.

  • The cat who wears the shades all the the time is rock singer Michael Des Barres...he replaced Robert Palmer in Power station and was asked to replace Mercury in Queen...I also believe he was considered for the lead singer spot in the Doors

  • I've been trying to figure out who the Welsh singer "Duffy" looks like and I finally placed it by watching this video. She looks like Judy Geeson who plays "Pamela"...the blond girl. I used to LOVE this movie when I was growing up. So glad my mom introduced me to it! Love the song too...so beautiful and great voice, Lulu!!

  • I came here because of Boy Meets World. Hoorray 90s!

  • This is a very nice song. I would love to learn the words to this and sing it to a beloved teacher of mine

  • oh, glee did this song? I came here because I saw the movie and enjoyed it -_-

  • @KokoroMizu Here here!

  • @KokoroMizu In all fairness, Glee didn't do the song. They fucking butchered it, making it sound like a crappy Kids Bop CD.

  • I think that this song..and the message in the movie relates to all students..,,it doest matter what time period..It shows that a teacher can touch the lives of anyone.. whether it be a class..or just one person.....Its a beautiful song..& movie...my graduating class sang this to our music teacher in 1979...

  • im here because of boy meets world....the graduation episode im graduating this year i hope this is our song!

  • glee is gaaaay,

  • @coconutpower18 no, you're gaaaay.

  • FUCK GLEE...LULU RULES....

  • why do the british look more classy here than now!

  • Comment removed

  • This is such a good film. It brings hope for everyone who watches it.

  • what is this 'glee you all speak of?

  • @jonaahthan youtube.com/watch?v=ma-KFnpekP8

    it's actually pretty nice.

  • I'm here because of Glee! I love Gleeeee

  • I agree, this is the best version. Nobody can sing it like Lulu!

  • I came here because I always listen to this when I need a pick-me-up. GO ERIC MATTHEWS! What do you kids know about Boy Meets World? :P

  • @Lucebby YEAH! boy meets world!! :)

  • Glee is for fags

  • New teachers should be required to watch this classic.

  • @jdmitchell2

    yes they should!

  • This was a great song (and movie) way before Glee existed and will still be a great song long after Glee is gone

  • actually i came because of Glee but i love this version more :)

    Guys please don't fight

  • 3:39 lol :3
