HI I THINK YOUR TUTORIALS ARE EXTREMELY HELPFUL, BUT COULD SOMEONE JUST ANSWER A SIMPLE QUESTION, WHAT DO THE LITTLE HAIRS MEAN WHEN YOU START GROWING VEGETABLES? IS THAT NATURAL?ISTARTED SOME COLLARD GREENS, IM JUST CURIOUS AS TO WHAT THE LITTLE HAIRS ARE THAT FORM FIRST?
Is there a way of ensuring that you get more branches as opposed to having a single long stem? If I need to clip something, exactly where should I clip?
I'm so glad I discovered your videos! I want to start container gardening and have been trying to decide between using peat pots or peat pellets to start the seeds. I'll probably use peat pots after watching this video. However, it is a curiosity that a lot of plants from retail stores are in plastic containers. At least when you pop out a purchased plant, all the roots are exposed. Do you ever recommend using plastic containers to start seeds? Thanks.
@GwenKellerman ...I've tried plastic several times and I always end up watering too much. If that happens with the peat pots they dry out pretty fast so it's not a problem......Donald
how long can the tomatos stay in the Container. we live in the desert and i want to have a veg garden but i cant grow any thing in this hard clay sand we got here. so i thought Container or pots would work but i dont know what would grow best and be fruitful in a pot/Container. any ideas or tips on what i can grow? i wanted to grow onions, garlic, tomaots, herbs, bell peppers and lettuces. would any of those grow in a pot/Container?
@browneyegirl0508 ... those who grow in "containers only" have told me to use at least 5 gal. pots. You can grow all the vegetables you mentioned just keep an eye on the moisture. Pots will dry out a lot quicker than when planted in the soil....... Donald
If starting seeds in peat pots then 6-8 weeks before you plan on planting in the garden. If you asking about planting / growing in containers then wait till all danger of frost has passed........... Donald
LOL, "it's early in the year and I'm gettin anxious and gotta do somethin even if it is wrong"... Wow, sounds like me, except I have never been honest enough to admit it. Love it!!! I learned a lot on this one, about myself, and about pinching off the bottom of the pot. Thanks Donald. -Tom
Some vegetables don't seem to have a problem with their roots coming through the peat pots but I think some do. In fact you'll see that when pulling some plants up at the end of the season. Their roots never make it very far out the pots. I could be totally wrong but that's my experience........ Donald

Thanks for video. I am happy to see you have added two more recently. I too am getting antsy about getting started, but here in Atlanta it is still very cold (we had snow this morning). I have my seed potatoes ready to go and will be planting tomatos as well.

Hi Donald. Another informative video! I have a question, approximately how big is your garden in terms of acres?
Thanks!
Cashis4life 1 year ago
@Cashis4life ... it varies with the season but I'd say anywhere from 1/4 to 1 1/2 acres. Mid summer is when most of it is planted........Donald
